Side Sim: Transporter Room 2 - Electric Boogaloo (Roughly one week ago...)

Posted Jan. 2, 2022, 9:52 p.m. by Lieutenant Thoon Furood (Security Officer) (Shalon Hurlbert)

Thoon was standing out of the way of foot traffic, next to a large plant feature filled with several tall, broad leafed, fern like plants, each with a long yellow, central stalk terminating in a white, ovoid, spiky bulb that bobbed gently in the circulated air of the high ceilinged atrium. Cafes and shops lined the inner wall following the curve of the central spire of the starbase. It was relatively quiet at this hour, nearly 0800, and the few people seated at the sporadically placed tables spoke quietly or not at all. Most were base personnel about to start first shift, eating a quick breakfast, drinking a cup of whatever regional stimulant their species enjoyed, and moving on to whatever responsibilities they went about day to day.

Thoon had spent the last 8 months there refreshing his training as a combat lifesaver with the station’s medical crew and getting his certification as a trainer himself. This atrium had been one of his favorite places on the station. The Tellarite cafe near the leeward entrance was a special favorite of his and the three other trainees. He had stopped in most mornings since he arrived but today was different. Thoon had eaten in his quarters while he finished packing this morning.

A quiet chime sounded from his combadge and then repeated. He had asked the station computer to alert him at 0800. A reminder to and beam over and check in with the human resources officer on the Ogawa. The chime started to ring again but was cut off as he tapped the badge. =^=Lieutenant Thoon Furood to Ogawa, reporting in. Ready to board.=^=

=^=Understood lieutenant, prepare to beam out.=^=

Thoon shouldered his duffel bag and stood at attention. His vision blurred to blue static and then cleared. The atrium was gone, replaced by the interior of a ship’s transporter room and the two other people standing across from him. The bored looking transporter officer was looking down at his console tapping out the command to clear the buffer and reset the transport cycle, just in front of him was who he assumed was the human resources officer. As he stepped down from the platform, Thoon reached into an outer pocket of his bag and retrieved the padd carrying his transfer orders. “Lieutenant Thoon Furood reporting for duty.” He said and handed her the padd.
