Thoon shouldered his duffel bag and stood at attention. His vision blurred to blue static and then cleared. The atrium was gone, replaced by the interior of a ship’s transporter room and the two other people standing across from him. The bored looking transporter officer was looking down at his console tapping out the command to clear the buffer and reset the transport cycle, just in front of him was who he assumed was the human resources officer. As he stepped down from the platform, Thoon reached into an outer pocket of his bag and retrieved the padd carrying his transfer orders. “Lieutenant Thoon Furood reporting for duty.” He said and handed her the padd.

The person in front of him was indeed the Human Resources officer. Ensign Charlie tossed her platinum hair over her shoulder and her chalky complexion and red cheeks burst into a huge grin showing her eye teeth. “Hi!!” She singsonged dancing her way closer. “Welcome to the Ogawa. I’m ensign Charlie I’m with HR I’m here to welcome you get you sorted with the system and with your check ins.” Her tone was exuberant as if she loved her job and everything about it.
Still grinning she offered a glowing blue PaDD panel to him. “I just need your hand scan to register you if you don’t mind.”

HRThoon placed his broad, short, four-fingered hand on the screen of the padd. He smiled back at her showing off a row of wide flat looking teeth. The padd chimed as it recognized his handprint and biosigns. “So where to first?”

Charlie grinned. “Thank you Lieutenant.” She said as the PaDD scanned. The PaDD meanwhile turned green a second and a softly spoken male computer voice said.
=^= Welcome Lieutenant Thoon, designation Security Officer. Pack number 4667. The system now recognizes staff entry. Voiceprint and bio signs downloaded from file. Welcome to the USS Ogawa Lieutenant, my name is GALEN please swap out your current comm badge for full interface experience.=^=
Charlie produced a Starfleet issue box with the number on it from nowhere and offered him a new badge. A slightly updated variation of the Starfleet comm badge he wore with a Caduceus engraved in the metal.
Thoon popped his current combadge off with a tug. He switched it out in the box with the shiny, new badge and took a close look at it. He chuckled to himself as he pressed it into place on his uniform. Thoon had yet to figure out why the medical profession on Earth was represented by winged snakes, let alone the entirety of the Federation. He adjusted it a tad, shifting it into position.
“Now, I’m authorized to take you to your quarters and help you find your way to check-ins if you require my assistance.” Charlie grinned

Thoon looked up from his fidgeting, readjusted his pack and gestured toward the door. “That would be great! Lead on.” He followed Charlie out into the corridor and joined her in the bustle of crew making their way to and fro.
