Alexis thought it would be in bad taste to wish them luck so as they headed for the door she opted to forgo more attempts at chit chat. She finished the file and signed it. She set in on the desk for Lampkin. Alexis looked around and there were a lot of nervous people, anxious children. She saw Iven with a young girl, and even more people outside trying to decide whether or not to accept their aid. =/\=Bonner to GALEN. Bring Frigga to the transporter room and have her beamed to my location.=/\=

A moment later Frigga appeared in a swirl of transporter lights. The pup was slightly confused at the sudden change of location and her nose twitched at the new smells. Alexis was glad she’d put Frigga’s vest on before she left.

The Nulla and Pamek left, mother clutching the little girl’s hand as they navigated the crowds and eventually disappeared in them. Lampkin picked up the PaDD with the chart and plugged it into the consol as everything copied over, the device wiped and a new chart loaded on. This one a blind man who had been sitting near the door. The chart read that he had some sort of degenerative nerve condition and nothing that Romulan medical could do would stop the decline just prolong the inevitable. He was hear for a cough and a spot on his leg.

Lampkin sighed as she handed it over to Bonner. “The children are the worst, aren’t they? And the best. So full of hope that we are here to help and their parents are always so… sad almost.” She waved a hand, “Not my place to psychoanalyze but they all have that distrust and skepticism that makes treating them hard.”

Alexis nodded. She had never experienced anything similar, but she’d done plenty of relief missions like this. But always within the Federation boarders. The Hathaway wasn’t spec’ed for deeper space missions. Intellectually she understood their distrust, probably more so now with Kane having shared his experiences with her. She wished he’d been assigned to the medical team for this one. He might be a pain in the neck for most but he’d probably put more people at ease than they could. Or not? As Lampkin said it wasn’t their place to psycho analyze anyone. “No we best leave that to Ivan and Grayson. But at least the adults are starting to come in. The little girl was adorable though.” Alexis adored kids, maybe because she’d always wanted to related to them when she was a kid but couldn’t? “Brave too.” She looked at the new chart. “Frigga,” she made a gesture that told the dog the next person was blind, and then headed over to the man. She touched the back of his hand lightly. “Hello. I’m Dr. Bonner. If you’ll come with me I can see about helping you with that cough and your leg.” She kept her voice steady and assured, and loud enough to be heard over the noise, but not so loud she was shouting. The man was blind not deaf.

Frigga walked before them making sure to keep people out of the man’s way.

Bonner, AMO

The man turned his head ever so slightly towards Bonner when she spoke to him, a wry grin across his lips before going to rise, the cane, both an instrument of support and a tool to map out his way forward. “Well then lead the way,” he said as he reached out to stand. “Help me up please? My balance isn’t as good as it once was.”
