“Well, congratulations!” He said, ducking slightly as the Caitan whipped his tail out of Charlie’s way. “If you ask me, nothing beats shipboard duty. At the very least, it will keep you busy.” He followed Charlie into the turbolift at the end of the corridor. The ride to the psychology deck was very short. A few seconds of awkward silence and then the doors swished open onto another nearly identical corridor. “Where do I go from here? I don’t want to keep you from the rest of your duties. I’m sure you have better things to do than lead a new officer around to places he could easily ask the computer for.”

-Lt. Thoon Furood (Sec)

Charlie continued to grin. “Not at all I’m more than happy to show officers around the ship. Just down the corridor here you’ll find the reception hologram and waiting area. I’ll come with you Ive been meaning to check in down here anyway.” She walked with him towards the desk where HARLEEN the reception hologram waited.

HARLEEN popped her holographic bubble gum and considered them “wotcha what can I do for ya both?” She asked.

Ens Charlie

Thoon was beginning to like this young human. She was quite gregarious and seemed to enjoy helping otheres. Her nature would fit in well on Ool. She had the open, helpful nature characteristic of the majority of Ool cultures, and almost universally among those Ool who join Starfleet. “I’m Lieutenant Furood. Reporting for my boarding eval. I believe I’m supposed to see Doctor Grayson.”

-Lt. Thoon Furood (Sec)

Standing at the desk sorting through PADDs she needed to review or had already reviewed, Grayson vaguely heard the holographic receptionist speak to some new arrivals. She was only peripherally paying attention so as not to disturb them or her own organizing efforts. In truth, she never knew whether to laugh at the hologram’s quirkiness or whether she should advocate for a more professional sounding hologram to be the face of the department. Ultimately, she got the impression most people didn’t mind the quirkiness and Grayson didn’t want to fix some thing that wasn’t broken, but she could only imagine what her professors would’ve said if they knew this was something she was facing on a medical vessel. Hearing her name called, she looked up and smiled. “Bless you, Lieutenant. You are saving me from administrative tasks. I would be happy to see you for your boarding evaluation. Welcome to the Ogawa.”

Thoon stretched to his tiptoes to get a better look at the person speaking from behind the counter, as she stood to full height, he smiled at her and dropped back to his heels. “Thank you, Doctor. I’m excited to be here.” He walked over to meet her at the end of the counter and, he assumed, the direction of her office. “I gave Charlie my personnel file when I boarded.” He turned slightly to look back to Charlie. When she looked up he gave her a friendly wave. He shifted his eyes back to Doctor Grayson. “You should be able to access my psychiatric history by now.” He extended his stout, four-fingered hand to her in the standard human greeting that had become ubiquitous throughout starfleet, the handshake.

<Bump>

OOC Lori: my apologies. I would love to continue the thread if you’re still up for?

Mariah accepted the handshake warmly and smiled, bending ever so slightly so as not to leave them feeling too uncomfortable stretching to her height. She hoped he wouldn’t be insulted by the gesture, but it was in her nature to automatically do what she could to make others comfortable. “Fantastic. Care to follow me to my office? We can have a get to know each other chat.” She would review the record quickly, but wouldn’t focus too much on it. She liked to get to know people on her own terms.
