She gave a sigh the a small smile. “Thanks Brad.” She was quiet a moment then pushed the palm of her hand roughly against her eyes and gave a laugh “Handsome, funny…a Doctor and a therapist to boot? Remind me again why we don’t set you up with any of those people battering your door down?”

“So Dr. Bonner doesn’t kill me for pushing even more of my work onto her?” Brad replied with a wry grin. “All the bright young things with dreams and ambitions of command don’t realize it’s not all seducing hot green women and dramatic posing, 80 percent of our jobs on the best days is paperwork.”

He pointed to the small mountain of PaDDs on one corner of his desk. “Case in point, my afternoon. Mostly reviewing charts of all the onboarding physicals, but there are a couple of active viral cases we’ve got among the newbies that came in on the same shuttle that I’m getting regular updates on, plus a couple of the new doctors are in a mentoring program with Medical that I’ve been drafted into supervising, so there’s a bunch of letters going back and forth between them, me, and San Francisco.”

Willow laughed and looked towards the pile. “Interesting…anything fun viral or run of the mill viral? And that sounds exciting. Oooh we could totally work as an placement if we were nearby a federation outpost a cadet could get to.” She said thoughtfully.

“Interesting viral,” Brad said. “I’m having a genetic analysis done on one of the patients, because the symptoms aren’t behaving like they should in a full human, which the patient ostensibly is. Should have the results on that by the time I actually get to the chart, sometime around 1500.”

Willow bit her lip. It wasn’t her job any longer to follow the medical health of the crew that closely. The systems and the skill of the medical crew would keep the ship safe of course Yet she couldn’t help herself. “Will you update me later?” She asked and gave Brad a sheepish sort of grin.

“Sure,” Brad replied. “Hopefully for a good reason, even.”

Looking around at the leftover mess from lunch she sighed. “I suppose we should get back to it shouldn’t we.” She said.

“I wouldn’t dare keep you from your riveting afternoon of Captain-y things,” Brad replied with a grin.

Willow stood and began Collecting the containers. She gave Brad a small playful shove. “Depending on how the report from Ens. Charlie goes later I may be back with a migraine.”

He frowned at that. “Do I need to schedule you for an eye exam?”

Chief of Staff

Willow laughed. “No but if you could hide me in a dark cupboard or something where HR ensigns aren’t allowed then that would do nicely.”

“She can’t get in if you lock the door,” Brad said. “There’s only two flesh-and-blood people on this ship that can unlock any and every door, and we’re both in this room.”

Willow pulled a face. “You’d think that. You really would.” She headed to the door. “You’re on lunch next time.” She said .

“Your office, or somewhere else?” Brad asked, already pulling up his calendar on a PaDD to schedule a reminder.
