Kane was not happy.

And this wasn’t the typical ‘Kane isn’t happy’ the crew had come to expect from from the wild haired, tattooed CSO. This was… worse.

Making his way through the passageway to the Counseling Suites, Kane caused more than one figure to either turn around and go away from him… and even had a few throw themselves against the bulkhead to put as much distance between them and him as they could.

To himself, Kane muttered under his breath and cursed. He hated these appointments. No one else on the Ogawa had to do monthly check-ins. Granted, no one else had his background, either. But to Kane, that didn’t matter. This was, to him, just one more way they kept him on a leash.

And he hated them for it.

Reaching the reception desk, he growled at the receptionist “Kane. CSO. Here to see the Psych Chief.”

Kane, CSO

HARLEEN looked at the man as she performed a quick scan of his bio signs. It was evident that he was upset. Even though she was prepared to go to a violet alert, she smiled at the man and then said, “Welcome to the psychiatric suite, Lieutenant Kane. I see you have arrived for your monthly appointment. However, I am afraid I am going to have to ensure that you are in a much calmer mood before I can allow your appointment to commence. I hope you understand, sir.”

HARLEEN

Kane’s scowl deepened and his jaw clenched. “Suck it, Hal. I don’t take orders from you, and you damn sure don’t get to dictate how I feel about being here. I have an appointment, and I showed up. If that is too much for your shrinks to handle, so be it. I got a hell of a lot of other things I could be doing.” and Kane turned and moved to the door with a one finger salute to the hologram.

Kane, CSO

Into this argument the doors to the psychiatry suite opened and the form of a blue haired teen in dark ripped jeans and a black shirt slouched into the space. He wore a scowl that could stand as a fair rival of Kane’s. Looking between the hologram and the chief science officer he chewed on the black lip ring.

“I mean like if you two need some alone time I can come back. It’s not like I want to be here anyway.”

Cai

Kane stopped and looked down at the teen. “You know, if you were clever, you might actually have said something funny right there. Instead, you ruined such a good moment on something pathetic and weak. What a waste. Now go, little boy, go get your feelers out. Maybe read the the holo-jerk some of your poetry.” and Kane brushed past him and the door slid open.

Kane, CSO

Cai made a face. “Dude, what you like to do in your own free time is your business. Just don’t project your shit onto the rest of us huh?” He moved over to one of the sitting areas and threw himself down “if you were clever you’d not be standing arguing with a preprogrammed image of a person but there we go.” he muttered under his breath and tapped his ear pods to crank his music. Despite the sound proofing a low noise of thrashing metal could still be heard.

Cai

Surra emerged from her office, she saw the teenaged boy in the sitting area and said “Hey Cai. You here to talk to someone?”, with a smile.
Then she looked at Solomon, her smile faded and said, “Lieutenant Kane! I see you are here for your appointment. Come on back.”

Almikaz, CoP

HARLEEN approach Surra and said in a whisper, “He is quite hostile. I have prepared our usual protocols for this type of patient just let me know if I need to implement them. Also I can overpower and take him down if I need to and hold him till security arrives.”

HARLEEN

Surra nodded at AI but said, “Its alright, he’s just a little agitated. Let me deal with him out of view of everyone else. I will let you know if I need you to activate those protocols.” She looked at Kane and held her arm out toward her office.

Almikaz, CoP

Kane glared at the hologram and then at the Psych Chief. Wordlessly, he turned back and began to walk past her when he stopped and went over to Cai. A flash of a hand and one of the ear pods disappeared and Kane growled “My office when your done here. Then you can have this back.” and he turned and brushed past the Chief of Psychiatry and into her office.

Kane, CSO

Cai scambled to grab at the device. “ HEY! What the hell! Give it back!” He yelled as Kane walked away. He was on his feet his fists clenched and his face like thunder.

Surra looked at Cai, shrugged her shoulders, then shook her head as she rolled her eyes before following the man into her office.

Removing the other pod from his ear he placed it into a holder and scowling still turned the device and initiated a short protocol on the keypad he had installed. It would t do much more than annoy with only one in hand but a short electrical pulse firing served as enough of a warning that someone had something that didn’t belong to them.

As she proceed to her desk to get her PaDD she said to him, “Lieutenant or Doctor, which ever you prefer, it seems you are having a bad day. You even had HARLEEN on high alert. What’s up? Why you in such a bad mood? Can I get you something to calm you down before we begin?”

Almikaz, CoP

Still scowling at HARLEEN Cai said. “You know you really gotta learn to cross reference files with the display people gif E you when they walk in so you know to treat people as individuals not just as a preprogrammed umbrella of bio signs and reaction.”

He threw himself back down onto the seat and muttered darkly to himself with his arms crossed.

Cai

“It seems you are also upset, Cai. However you should not take your frustration out on me. That energy should be directed toward the appropriate person… in this case, I am sure that would be Lieutenant Kane for stealing your listening device. Although I do have an adaptive learning function, my current programming requires that I treat everyone the same. I do not think, nor does Dr. Almikaz for that matter, it is effective for a receptionist, robot or human, to treat beings based on personality. Every crewman and occupant on this ship deserves the same high quality treatment and we help people work through various issues including ones associated with the personality. If you have a problem with my programming you should discuss it with the Chief of Psychiatry.”
Before she left him to greet other patients and complete other tasks she said, Good luck on getting that listening device back.”
