Colliding Paths - Sickbay - Patient Myqian

Posted Dec. 4, 2022, 1:44 p.m. by Lieutenant Solal Segal (Oncology and Immunology) (Lucas Foxley)

The transport brought Solal and his patient, one Commander Myqian, directly to sickbay. With her settled on a biobed, he could finish treating her. He set the biobed to monitor her vital signs and then set to work. The first thing he wanted to treat was the chloroform poisoning. He ordered two medical NEs to undress her and give her a sponge bath, the purpose of which was to remove any trace of the toxic chemical from her skin. He also gave her a dose of hydrocyanic acid, a known antidote to chloroform poisoning. It may not work, but it was the first and best indicated treatment.

He set to work next setting the injured joints. The anti-inflammatory and the pain med he has given earlier would help, but resetting the dislocated joint would still hurt. He wasn’t sure how conscious she was, so just in case she was he warned her: “Commander, I will need to set your shoulder and your wrist. It will hurt a lot, and then it will feel better.” Then he did just that, carefully manipulating the shoulder back into its socket, and then resting the arm in a sling against her chest.

The wrist was easier, being a smaller joint. He set it back in place, and then splint it with a stiff, fabric splint that would keep the wrist from moving.
