Brad did his best to mimic the gesture, though his movements were far less smooth than the Ambassador’s.

Willow slipped into the room at that point and had to bite the inside of her cheek as she watched Brad copy the gesture.

“Doctor Brad Walker, Chief of the Ogawa’s Medical Staff, Ambassador,” he said with a small smile. “We’re equally pleased to have you choose us to see to your care.”

“Oh, one of the doctors! I remember you from the documentary!” the Ambassador said. She gestured behind her. “This is my aide, Su’en Jalero and two of my personal guards, Aiin and Kaosret.”

A small vein twitched in Willows temple at the mention of the documentary but her smile remained in place as she allowed Doctor Walker to continue his greeting.

It might have been strange, for the third-in-command to handle the greeting, but technically, his department was the reason she was here. At this point, the CO and XO of the ship were little more than chauffeurs for the medical staff.

“I offer you a choice: we can escort you to your quarters and begin the medical exams in the morning, or we can escort you to our primary medical facility first and then take you to your quarters after the diagnostic team completes their intake procedures,” he said.

“That’s rather condescending,” Su’en thought to himself, his attitude bristling at the perceived sleight towards his boss. He took his breath and opened his mouth to begin to read Walker the Riot Act when his much more calm Mero interjected.

Mero turned to her long-trusted aide, her motions even more airy in the slightly lighter gravity than her homeworld norm. “What do you feel up for? I am eager to just get started, and you don’t have to be there for the exams if you don’t want to. I don’t know if they will want to ask anything of you though.” She turned her silver eyes to Walker in query.

Taking this as an opening willow cleared her throat. “Im Captain Taylor, on behalf of the Ogawa welcome. Im sure if you wish we can organise a space close to the medical suite to you to rest where you can be contacted easily should the medical staff need you.”

It was at this point the bouncing ball of boundless bubbly that was Ensign Charlie arrived with a box which she brought to Show Willow and the at the Captain’s nod to Walker. Inside were the GALEN connected patient bands should he need them.

Su’en eyed the doctors, and especially Charlie, with distrust before falling in with Mero. “I’ll see you get to the medical bay safely, Your Ladyship. Then I’ll make sure your quarters are safe to be in, that they got the air mixture correctly,” he said eyeing the Ogawa crew. “And make sure they have your special tea. Just the way you like it.”

Mero smiled warmly. “He takes such great care of me, which is a blessing so far from home.” She turned to Su’en. “That sounds like an acceptable plan. I will definitely want some more tea. Oh! and a banana!” she said, her smile widening.

Dira was quietly taking in the new arrivals with curiosity, assessing them in a way that she could do uniquely of the trio. “We will do whatever we can to provide for your needs. You’ve but to ask. I am Commander Dira Myqian, first officer. If anything comes up, just call me. Our ship’s AI, GALEN, is very responsive and will let me know.” She was the natural buffer in a diplomatic situation, but this was not your typical ferrying task or hosting. The Ambassador was a willing patient, but Dira knew they had to be careful not to cross that line and make sure she was treated with all the regard someone of her position had earned.

She took the bands from Charlie and held one up. “This is a patient band we offer those being treated here. It is up to you if you wish to wear it, Ambassador, but it can help the medical team track vitals and such outside of the medical areas. If you’re not comfortable with that, we understand.”

Commander Myqian, XO

Mero stepped up to Myqian and eyed her intently, the warm smile still there but more curious. “You have a special energy about you,” she said, gesturing to the space around Dira. “I know I can trust you, so I don’t mind wearing the band,” she said, plucking it from the XO’s palm. She shot her aide a meaningful look, knowing he’d sense the commander’s aura too.

“Doctor, I am your willing patient, so by all means, show us the way,” the Amassador said.

Willow watched Su’en carefully. That was a person who did not trust the situation or those present if ever there was one.

“I am happy to take you personally to the quarters we have arranged for the Ambassador so you can check everything is to your satisfaction.” She said to Su’en and gave Mero a nod.
