Surra had no idea, naturally, and at the moment Dira was having a hard time wrapping her mind around it all. But there were some things she knew for certain. “If I had not gotten away, gotten that PADD away from him, we would be long gone right now and I very much doubt you would ever have seen me again.” But that was before he realized that she had gone against his plan, betrayed his delusion. That William had turned angry and Dira knew all too well what would happen in the unlikely event he managed to escape custody.

Surra smiled, she admired her strength and knew there was no way she was going to let him take her. “I am so glad he underestimated your strength.”

She shifted her dark gaze to the ceiling, letting the words roll out as if she were reciting from the diagnostic manual… which she sort of was. “Delusional Disorder, erotomanic type. characterized by non-bizarre delusions, irritable or dysphoric mood, no marked impairments or bizarre behaviour and does not meet the criteria for schizophrenia. There is often a misguided effort to rescue an object of affection from some imagined danger.”

“Do you mind if I do a quick brain scan? I have a baseline of your brain activity from the counseling session we did and I want to see if they align or how far off they are.”

It took Myqian a moment to process the request, but she just nodded. “Sure.”

With Dira reciting the words, to Surra, it was almost as if she was trying to pull herself out of a mental fog. It was a good thing, therefore Surra decided to try to keep her talking. “Do you think he was trying to rescue you or kidnap you?” She handed her more water, “I still wonder how he was able to get on the ship?” All of that would be figured out later, she was sure of it.

Dira’s hand tightened into a fist, her knuckles paling. “In William’s mind, Starfleet is the big -bad-evil keeping us apart. He blames everyone for stopping us from having the life together he imagined. He got on the ship while we were at base last, or at least that is my best guess.” Her black eyes focused on Surra intently. “All those twinges I was feeling? All those moments where I thought I was losing my mind, so much so that we suppressed my telepathy? That was him,” she said, her voice dropping in timbre. “This whole damn time, it was him. He made me doubt my very sanity!”

She wanted to ask Dira if she had picked up anything else from her telepathic abilities during her capture that could aid with William’s questioning but decided it was best if she rest and did not dwell on the matter or try to make her remember what had happened to her until she was recovered and ready to talk about it. “You shouldn’t worry about any of that now.

Commander Myqian, XO

Dira blew out a breath to steady herself, feeling a strange weight settle over her body.

Alexis had finished checking on the four injured crewmen in secondary sickbay. They were all doing well and would make a full recovery. It didn’t take a genius to know that the emergency Lt Solal had responded to was for Cmdr Myqian. So when Alexis was finished in secondary sickbay she took the lift up, bringing Frigga with her, to Primary. The doors slid open and the two stepped into the ascetic entry and waited for the cycle. Stepping into the main bay she looked around and spotted Dr Solal and walked over. “How is Cmdr Myqian doing?”

After getting an update from Solal, Bonner moved over to the room and walked around to the opposite side of the bed. “Lt Almikaz.” She said softly as she entered, “I came to check on the Cmdr.” Frigga nudged her leg and Bonner looked down at the canine understanding that she wanted to know that her charge was okay. Alexis patted her head once to reassure her. Then she took a seat on one of the tall stools. She sat a hand on Myqian’s shoulder, careful of physical contact. Her chart said she had been taking a telepathic suppressant and it would be working its way out of her system. Despite her own personal issues Bonner did not wish to startle the Cmdr. Her trained eyes took in the treated injuries and the focused stare at the ceiling, the recitation of clinical and familiar safe things. Oh Alexis understood only too well. They really weren’t all that different. “Cmdr Myqian?” She waited until she looked at her and there was a wealth of understanding and empathy, for Bonner anyway, in her eyes. “How are you feeling?”

Bonner, AMO

“Hey…” Dira said, the tension in her body dissipating as she saw Alexis and Frigga, though it was more Frigga. The canine had helped save her life after all.

Frigga’s ears perked up hearing Dira’s voice and she trotted into the room nose twitching and tail wagging.

When Bonner entered the room, Surra took that as her cue to leave. She nodded at Dr. Bonner before she looked at the Commander and said, “Well I should be going. Should I pass a message…or any information regarding Williams to Lieutenant Commander Zoi?”

Dira’s gaze darkened. “I shattered his delusion, though I doubt it will end it. But now he’s angry Surra. He was willing to harm anyone who get between him and his dream life, and I guarantee you is given the opportunity, he will get his way. If he can’t have me to himself, he’ll kill me and anyone else in his path. Do not give him that chance. He’s mentally ill, but is not harmless. Don’t let him fool you.”

Surra nodded, silently acknowledging her concerns. She looked at Dr. Bonner for a moment then left the room.

Alexis shook her head, “No Cmdr he won’t. That’s what he wanted, but you didn’t give it to him. You did amazing, and this crew isn’t going to let him hurt you or anyone else. Cmdr Haven has him now, and she knows what she’s doing.” Being a hospital ship, dealing with dangerous patients was a necessary training and Cmdr Haven was very good at her job.

She blew out a shaky breath and closed her eyes a moment, letting her building rage float away again. When she opened her eyes, she gazed fully at Alexis and sighed. “I’ve been better, but”-she pushed herself up to a sitting position with difficulty-“I am very happy to see my helper,” she said, reaching out towards Frigga with her good hand. “She kept me safe from him,” she said softly to Alexis. “I was in so much pain I really couldn’t carry on at one point and she protected me.”

Of that, Alexis had no doubt that Frigga was protecting her. Frigga was all too familiar with people like Franks. She’d protected Alexis from Soulis, too. Alexis raised the head of the bed for her and then looked at Frigga, “Up.” Frigga wasted no time hopping onto the end of the bed and then carefully making her way closer. She sniffed Myqian’s wrist and then her all over her before settling down and licking her other hand gently. Alexis smiled a little. “She was worried. I am, truly, glad she was with you, Cmdr.” Alexis wasn’t sure what else to say; this wasn’t exactly her strong suit, but she felt a rather strong impulse to do…something. She thought, for once, she actually understood exactly how someone else was feeling, at least a little bit. She glanced at the readings above the bed and then back. “How is your heart feeling?” That chemical mixture she’d been exposed to had really done a number on her. She was glad that Solal had managed to identify it quickly.

From across the medical suite the red haired figure of Willow watched the small gathering around Dira. She didn’t approach not wanting to interrupt but somehow she couldn’t bring herself to leave the space. The flurry of emotions that washed over her in waves at the whole affair were tricky to contain and she wasn’t sure if she left the suite she wouldn’t do something stupid. Something unbecoming of an officer. And yet…yet. Her hands bunched into fists and anger became the prevalent feeling. She turned and headed out to find this man and take her anger out on someone. She’s come back later to see Dira.
