Bonner patted Frigga’s back quietly. She heard and understood. Even though Myqian was a well trained and highly educated undivided, Alexis reminded herself to speak clearly and not scientifically. Myqian had been through enough already. “You have been through quite a lot. Your need the rest. The adrenaline surge most likely ate through your blood sugar levels. A little juice should help. Do you have a preference?”

“Umm, uttaberry, please,” Dira said, not even sure what time it was. When was the last time she’d even eaten? Not that she could eat right now anyway. BUt it was that disorienting feeling of having not just a span of time missing because you had been drugged, but then time had passed in that maintenance room so strangely she couldn’t have even guessed how long it had been before she escaped. And then to pass out in Sickbay… yeah, Bonner was right: understatement though it was, she had been through a lot.

Bonner moved over to the replicator and returned with the drink. She helped Myqian sit up to drink it. “Frigga can stay as long as you would like her to. Before I let you sleep, do you need or want anything?”

Bonner, AMO

Such a smile question but Dira looked over at Bonner after sipping on the juice with a bewildered expression. Her lips moved as if there were could be words, but the truth was Dira couldn’t process anything. Needs and wants were low down on the list of things her mind was ready to deal with. She shook her head and looked back down at Frigga. “But I wouldn’t mind if Frigga stayed, so long as she knows not to hog the whole bed,” Dira said, at least attempting lightness. The truth she didn’t want know she needed to utter was that she was scared of being alone right now.

Alexis nodded. “Frigga is a very thoughtful companion.” That was how a patient had described her once to Alexis. Alexis remembered after Soulis has come after her, she had asked Kane to stay with her. She hadn’t wanted to be alone. The idea was frightening. She doubted she was the person Myqian would want to sit with her. Frigga was certainly a better companion. Alexis could at least offer to call someone. She didn’t know who Myqian was close to, Alexis didn’tpay attention to such things. “Would you like me to call someone for you? I can sit with you until they come. Or Dr. Almikaz?” The question was awkward but purely genuine.

Bonner, AMO

The one person she desperately needed here beside her was doing something extraordinarily important: ensuring the ship and its crew were safe. Dira set the juice to the side and sighed. “Zoi will come when she is able,” Dira said, her brown fingertips sliding over Frigga’s soft head. “I’ll be okay.” It wasn’t bravado, not entirely. She was in a major medical bay with her biosigns monitored continuously. There were few safer places on the ship right now and though it was only the tiniest comfort, it would have to do. Besides, Frigga was with her.

Cmdr Haven? Was that common knowledge? It didn’t matter if it was or not, Alexis would never say anything. Instead she simply nodded. “If you do need something, there are plenty of people around, just ask. I’ll let you try to rest.” She rubbed Frigga behind the ear. “Frigga, stay.” The dogs tails swept side to side, bumping Myqian’s leg gently. Then Alexis left. There was still a lot of other work to be done.

Bonner, AMO

Leaning back, Dira felt the weight of the last hours (she still wasn’t entirely sure how much time had passed) and it spread through her body, through her face and into her eyes. Her lids drooped and she was going to ask someone what time it was but that thought disappeared as sleep overtook her.

Dira dozed for a long while before she surfaced again and this time she came to more smoothly. The lights of Sickbay overhead and the sounds of people going about their work filtered through her senses. She tried to flex her left wrist, still braced, and she could feel the tightness of the healing tissues. A dislocated joint was easy enough to fix but it still took time to heal fully. She guessed she’d need some PT on it and her shoulder, which was also tight as she tried to lift her arm to reach out to Frigga. She winced. “Guess not,” she said softly to the canine, who had apparently stuck with her.

Frigga nosed her hand and arm softly, forcing it back down. She licked Dira’s hand and her tail thumped against the woman’s leg. Frigga laid still for a long two minutes, but no one came to check on her friend. She lifted her head and turned towards the partition and barked twice.

=/\=FRIGGA YOU WILL NOT START THAT BEHAVIOR AGAIN.=/\= The computerized voice of GALEN informed the dog. Frigga looked at the ceiling speaker and barked once and whined. =/\=FRIGGA STOP THAT=/\=

Dira was actually slightly amused, though they might need to add in some additional programming for GALEN to address specific needs in regards to Frigga. “Good girl Frigga,” she whispered, scratching the dog’s head with her good hand.

Realizing she would get no help from the disembodied voice that led her about the ship, Frigga nosed and then licked Dira’s hand again. She gently hopped down and padded into the main bay. Seeing Dr Solal, someone she was very familiar with and worked with she trotted over and barked twice softly and then whined while pawing at his pants leg.

Solal had been going about his usual work. He was tired, it had been a busy day. When he felt pawing at his leg he looked down at Frigga. Doctor Bonner’s sickbay dog. Secretly, it was a joy to see her. Outwardly, he showed no such thing.

Once he looked at her she trotted back to the door where Dira was and barked once. =/\=FRIGGA YOU ARE A BAD DOG. STOP THAT.=/\= If dogs could roll their eyes, Frigga would have. She waited for Solal to follow her.

Frigga

Solal knew that meant ‘follow’. He walked behind the dog towards the door. Entering Dira’s room, he stood by the bed. “Commander Myqian. How are you feeling? Any better?” It was said with little emotion. There were a few things the nurses had found that Solal was hanging onto until they could be turned over to Lieutenant Haven. A used hypo and a PaDD, carefully left untouched and stashed in a drawer in Myquin’s patient room.

Myqian swallowed. “A little,” she said softly, not meeting his gaze. “Less dizzy. But my wrist and shoulder hurt still. I know it will take time to heal fully but the pain is distracting.” It also reminded her she was alive, so it was a mixed blessing.
