Was she alright? No, but at the same time, she would be. It would pass. “I’m having an… off morning. I’ll be fine. But I just need to”-she paused and took a deep breath-“get off this deck. I didn’t mean to come here.” Dira managed to at least keep a steady voice and was forcing herself to be more in control. At least running quite literally into Maria had jolted her brain into a different state and that was actually a good thing.

Maria’s head tilt only increased. “Got off of the deck? What… ” Maria looked confused for a moment as many things whirred through her brain. She had read reports and heard scuttlebutt amonst the other officers, she knew something had went down, the reports she had gotten had some information in them redacted, mostly the names of those involved. She didnt really know what happened. “Oh....” A proverbial lightbulb seemed to go off in her head as she paused again starting to put the pecies together. “Was that…” She paused again knowing that if the information was redacted it was done to protect the personnel involved. “Best not…” she nodded, knowing that if it had traumatized the woman, she wouldnt be able to help, she wasnt a psychiatrist after all. Maria stepped to the side. “Yes, Captain.”

She managed to push her embarrassment down, strong though it was. After all, she was the damned captain and she couldn’t even be on a deck on her own ship. How ridiculous was that? Myqian swallowed. “Were you headed somewhere in particular?” she said, almost forcing herself to stay rooted in this place, to calm the flight reaction that had engulfed her body.

Maria straightened her head before she shook it slightly. “No ma’am. I had a day off, and was just wandering about the ship. Though I saw some damage that were given to me in some reports… so I had come here subconsciously I believe.” She explained with a nod. “I cant help myself it seems.” She gave the captain a soft smile. “What about you ma’am?”

“Just doing my usual rounds,” Myqian said, breathing more easily. “Why don’t we wander together?” It was a win-win for for both of them as far as she was concerned. She could get off the deck and Maria got to see more of the ship. She was already minded to go to her ‘spot’. so it seemed natural to start there.

Maria blinked and smiled her expression became excited, at time she was not unlike a small child. She gave a few vigorous nods. “I would love the opportunity Captain. To roam with you would be fun.”

“All right then, let’s do that,” Myqian said, meandering back towards the lift.

She moved around to the Captain’s flank, mostly behind her, though off a little to the side, so that opposite flowing traffic could flow easily, as well as natural conversation could still ensue, even if it made eye contact a little more difficult. “A captain hopefully knows her ship best… well in due time second best.” She said with a small giggle layered into the words.

Dira laughed, and with it went some of the tension in her body. “Well, it helps that every since we boarded this new ship, I have spent at least a small amount of time nearly every day just wandering. A part of it was to get to know all the nooks and crannies of the ship, and the other was so that the crew got used to seeing their first officer around and, I hoped, it would make me more approachable so that they would come to me if there were issues. But no, I always expected that the engineers knew all the real nooks and crannies best. But that doesn’t stop me from trying,” she said with a grin.

Maria gave a snort and her grin widened. “You really want to get to know your ship? Avoid using the turbolift… and get around via jeffries tubes and acess hatches between decks. That’ll get you down to the real nitty gritty. Sometimes you can just find a magical spot in the ship.” Her grin widened.

She had and would travel about the jefferies tubes again at some point, but not now. Not if she could help it.

“For example a friend of mine he had found a spot in his ship just off one of the side jeffries tubes it was near the port Nacel… a spot in his ship where the artifical grav plate acted in a most peculiar way. It was almost like it was double pollarized. So both ceiling and floor had its on gravity, though each field was weaker because of it. It would keep you to the floor, but if you jumped high enough? The floors gravity would lose you and the ceiling would take over allowing you to walk or sit on the ceiling. He liked to do that whenever he felt stressed out and needed to think, so he kind of meditated there.” She explained in an excited and cherpy tone.

Myqian grinned, her dark eyes glittering. “The sweet spot. Every ship has one. It seems like a great place for most people but I still find it noisy on most ships.” They reached the lift and she pressed the call button. “I think I know where we should go first.”

Rather than call out her deck, Dira entered it manually with a secretive smile.

Maria tilted her head but otherwise she didn’t ask any questions. She was sure the captain had her reasons. So Maria smiled and waited as the turbolift moved.

They didn’t go all that far and soon the life door admitted them into one giant space: the Triage Deck, Deck 14. Dira stepped out and all but sighed in relief, the thin silver headband still in her hand, though she took a moment to twist the tiny dials off. Stepping into the cavernous space kitting out around the perimeter with all the gear they would need to triage a mass casualty situation, her foot falls did not echo. There was enough cargo around to dampen the sounds. “This Maria, is the quietest place on the entire ship. Above us are transporter rooms and the deflector. Below us, just module storage. We’re smack dab in the part of the ship where people only go out of necessity.” She closed her eyes and enjoyed the lower input, even though she was not alone.

She stepped out following after the captain. She listened as they headed forward into the Triage. She listened and nodded, She listened at the quietness, which really all that filled the room was the initial sounds of their own steps, and their breathing; and she gave a small smile. “Yes Captian. I see that it is. I imagine that it is also easier when not being bombarded by peoples needs all of the time.” After they had toured around the room, Maria walked over to one of the storage crates and sat down on top of it. “It is peaceful.”
