Maria gave a snort and her grin widened. “You really want to get to know your ship? Avoid using the turbolift… and get around via jeffries tubes and acess hatches between decks. That’ll get you down to the real nitty gritty. Sometimes you can just find a magical spot in the ship.” Her grin widened.

She had and would travel about the jefferies tubes again at some point, but not now. Not if she could help it.

“For example a friend of mine he had found a spot in his ship just off one of the side jeffries tubes it was near the port Nacel… a spot in his ship where the artifical grav plate acted in a most peculiar way. It was almost like it was double pollarized. So both ceiling and floor had its on gravity, though each field was weaker because of it. It would keep you to the floor, but if you jumped high enough? The floors gravity would lose you and the ceiling would take over allowing you to walk or sit on the ceiling. He liked to do that whenever he felt stressed out and needed to think, so he kind of meditated there.” She explained in an excited and cherpy tone.

Myqian grinned, her dark eyes glittering. “The sweet spot. Every ship has one. It seems like a great place for most people but I still find it noisy on most ships.” They reached the lift and she pressed the call button. “I think I know where we should go first.”

Rather than call out her deck, Dira entered it manually with a secretive smile.

Maria tilted her head but otherwise she didn’t ask any questions. She was sure the captain had her reasons. So Maria smiled and waited as the turbolift moved.

They didn’t go all that far and soon the life door admitted them into one giant space: the Triage Deck, Deck 14. Dira stepped out and all but sighed in relief, the thin silver headband still in her hand, though she took a moment to twist the tiny dials off. Stepping into the cavernous space kitting out around the perimeter with all the gear they would need to triage a mass casualty situation, her foot falls did not echo. There was enough cargo around to dampen the sounds. “This Maria, is the quietest place on the entire ship. Above us are transporter rooms and the deflector. Below us, just module storage. We’re smack dab in the part of the ship where people only go out of necessity.” She closed her eyes and enjoyed the lower input, even though she was not alone.

She stepped out following after the captain. She listened as they headed forward into the Triage. She listened and nodded, She listened at the quietness, which really all that filled the room was the initial sounds of their own steps, and their breathing; and she gave a small smile. “Yes Captian. I see that it is. I imagine that it is also easier when not being bombarded by peoples needs all of the time.” After they had toured around the room, Maria walked over to one of the storage crates and sat down on top of it. “It is peaceful.”

Dira stood there and closed her eyes, absorbing the silence even as her mind could conjure an image of what this space was like in action. Not because they had had need of it yet, but from previous experiences in situations where mass triage had been warranted.

When she opened her dark eyes, Myqian turned slowly in place, seeing everything as it would be in an emergency. “I’m a very strong telepath, Maria. My mixed biology has contributed some… quirks to the usual telepathic traits of both my parent’s peoples. I’m Betazoid, known for straight-up telepathy and empathy, and I’m Haliian, known for empathy and touch-telepathy. On a day-to-day basis I manage fine. My mental shields aren’t perfect, but it’s usually enough to function. But in a crisis? When everyone’s state is intense, or we’re dealing with people that are terrified and or in pain? I’m overwhelmed to the point I can’t manage.” She waved the thin band of metal in her hand. “This is an experimental solution that seems to work. Instant relief, no side effects… that’s we’ve found so far. But before i had this, and still now too, I come down here for quiet, to think, to not be where everyone else needs something of me. Sure, they can find me down here, but more times than not people wait until I come up to higher decks and am more obviously available to bug me.” It wasn’t exactly a secret, but nor was it something she really shared with many people.

Maria nodded her face somber. she looked down towards the floor. “I see, that must be difficult. I wouldn’t be able to manage I don’t think.” She said before she hopped down off of the crate and moved over to the Captain. “I can see how that would be distracting, and how it would be hard to concentrate in those situations.” She looked thoughtful and then gave a small smile. “I am glad that there is a device that seems to work at the moment. I could see why you would come down here, old comforts. I can understand.”
