Maria laughed and gave her own smirk. “Well if I hear a crock of dung I’ll sure called it out. Seems that I tend to be alergic. Much to the dismay of some. I would love to hear what you have to say. I can only imagine the experiences you’ve been through.”
Lt. J.G. Maria, CE“Oh, there’s been some interesting times for sure,” the captain mused. She stepped away, taking in the space. “Imagine this place Maria, in a crisis. A couple hundred beds full of people. Medical staff running about systematically assessing each person in terms of priority. Primary and Secondary Sickbay running at full capacity with emergency cases.” She turned back towards the CE. “That’s what we always need to be prepared for, and your job really is to make sure the ship is always ready for that. What the medical and psyc staff are constantly doing, and what I did most of my career when I wasn’t doing individual or group therapy was preparing for an emergency we hoped would never come. It’s sort of a strange existence, all told, but there’s something special to it all.”

Maria looked around the space, a few times as she mapped the area out in her head. She closed her eyes and used her mental map to lay out the equipment and what not in what she thought to be an efficient manner. She took a bit of time as she just imagined the area full with not only the equipment, but also people. She could see the people as they scurried and hurried about and did the tasks that were necessary. She could almost hear the low but constant chatter as medical personnel talked with the patients, and each other. She could practically feel it. She shivered slightly, as goosebumps appeared over her skin. She gave a few nods, the Captains words faded to background, adding in to the psycho audio stimulation she felt now.
Lt. J.G. Maria, CEFor a time Dira said nothing and let their minds just exist in that state of possibility. She could tell Maria was in it too. After a few more moments, she allowed herself to speak. “Every once in awhile, even aside from needing the quiet down here, I come into this space to remember what it is this ship can do. What we are uniquely qualified to do. It’s easy in the everyday sort of mundanity of our lives to forget that we’re not just a medical ship, we’re a space-going hospital, able to respond to emergencies and serve alongside others ship participating in conflict. Those days, when they eventually roll around, will be difficult, but I know we’ll be prepared if we’ve taken a moment now and again to remember our purpose.”

Slowly Maria came back. The words became clear slowly. She opened her eyes and then looked at the captain. She gave a nod. “And I have to make sure that she’s.... we’re ready for that. I suppose that I take a team that specializes in working on the science equipment, and medical equipment… and learn them back and forward.” She said giving a chuckle.

“Oh, I know you’re up for the challenge,” Myqian said with a smile. She gestured towards the door. “Care to keep wandering? You can pick the next deck.” Her panic from earlier was a distant memory and so long as they avoided the physical trigger, she would be fine to continue her rounds.
