As requested now that the Ambassador and her staff had arrived, the specs for their breathing device were passed along to Kane.

Much like it was described at the meeting, the device used a charcoal based filter to adjust the amount of oxygen the wearer inhaled. Gosaneen III had a lower oxygen atmosphere at 69.812% rather than Earth’s 78.084. The filter was contained in a small device that rested fairly flat against the chest and was worn like a necklace. Thin tubes extended from the device up into pieces that pushed the air out directly in front of the wearer’s mouth to it was the predominant source rather than the atmosphere around them. It did require the wearer to adapt to breathing mostly with their mouth, but given few of their people spent time in other atmospheres, it was a mild inconvenience that the Kelakgh put up with.

Kane, seated in his new ‘office’ (really just a section of the labs that he had cordoned off with walls and security access) looked at the schematics and shook his head. “Wow. It’s a wonder they ever developed warp drive if this is their idea of an efficient filtration system.” he said to no one. He pulled up the Ambassador’s medical file and ran their O2 levels against what they should be; and then he started doing the same comparison for all the Kelakgh on board. He also looked at respiration per minute, and compared all of the Kelakgh to the established norms.

Kane, R&D

Ambassador Mero’s registered blood O2 levels were sitting 2 point lower than baseline, while her aide and their two guards were all sitting at 1 point above baseline.

Kane tapped his comms and sent word to Walker. “Kane to Walker. I’m seeing a discrepancy in blood level O2 for rhe Ambassador. I’m gonna need to take a look at her and her aides breathing devices. Something’s screwy.”

Kane, R&D

=/\=Understood. Is this look going to require removal of the device?=/\= Brad asked.

Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

=/\= Yeah. Either that or you let me examine and interview her. But I’m guessing no one really wants that. =/\= he replied with a chuckle. =/\= I can do it in her quarters or in Sickbay, but I may need to bring the device here for examination and trouble-shooting. =/\=

Kane, R&D

Brad chuckled in reply. =/\=I think it would be best if you swung by her quarters to pick it up once she’s returned there, so she’s already in her atmosphere and doesn’t need it.=/\=

Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

=/\= OK. Make the arrangements and send ‘em to me. I’ll be there. =/\= Kane said flatly and then cut off the comms. He began working with the device he had, going step by step through it to make sure he k ew how it should work so he could identify if the Ambassador’s was not.

Kane, R&D

Brad frowned. Between this and the banana, it seemed like someone was actively trying to sabotage the Ambassador. It almost had to be one of her staff, but who, and why?

Shaking his head, he checked the Ambassador’s patient band and saw that she was currently in the ship’s lounge.

=/\=Commander Walker to Ambassador Mero. Do you have a moment?=/\= he commed.

Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

OOC: Actually, she’s currently in the Lounge. ;) All these threads are concurrent, so this conversation is going on at the same time as the stuff with Engineering. We can leave the conversations separate if it’s easier but everyone in this thread and the Sickbay one would be privy to the same knowledge.
IC:
=/\=This is Ambassador Mero. What can I do for you, Commander?”=/\= she said with a calm and measured tone.

~Mischief Maker

OOC: Ah. Consider my above edited then ;)

IC: =/\=When you and your team return to your quarters, I’d like to send someone by to check your breathing devices, make sure they’re properly attuned to the ship’s atmosphere mix.=/\=

Chief of Staff
