There were many transitions occurring right now and it seemed to Dira that it would probably continue this way for awhile. Was it really so different than how t had been before? Not really. That thought made her smirk as she looked out the windows of her office space. Smile still on her face, Myqian tapped her combadge. =/\=Myqian to Doctor Grayson. Please come to my ready room at your earliest convenience.=/\= She phrased it that way knowing that the psychiatrist might be in a session and this was not so urgent that it couldn’t wait until the woman was free.

The surprising summons, as it happened, came conveniently when Mariah was just saying goodbye to her latest client. Meeting the quizzical look of the young woman she had just been in the process of ushering out of the lobby with raised eyebrows and sparkling eyes of her own, she mouthed an additional goodbye and offer a wave before tapping her comm badge and replying, =/\= Grayson here, ma’am. Your timing is impeccable. I’m on my way. =/\=

On the way to the ready room, Mariah contemplated what she could have done or perhaps not done to earn a summons by a member of the command staff. She could think of nothing in particular that could possibly matter to anyone outside of patient care. Grayson was the sort to keep her head down, but quietly to whatever she could to support people around her. Had she met a member of the command staff? Possibly when she had boarded some time ago, but that would’ve been several commanding officers ago.

She wondered if perhaps the summons had something to do with the interpersonal challenges Surra had shared with her. She wondered if her fellow psychiatrist had finally sought to report something up the chain?

Knowing her curiosity would soon be satisfied, she approached me ready room doors and pressed the chime. Even though she was expected, she didn’t think politeness would go amiss.

“Come in.”

An office space said something about the occupant and Dira’s was no different, though she hadn’t been in there very long. To the right of the entrance was the captain’s desk, a couple chairs for guests, and a replicator tucked into the corner, while a sitting area took up the space in front of the an expanse of windows opposite the main door. The sitting area comprised of a navy blue sofa that had a gentle curve to it. On each side of it, nestled between the windows and where it curved out was a side table with a potted plant. One had trails of forked leaves and the other had tall dark green stems lined with alternating heart shaped leaves that had a blue hue.

Other small touches had been added that were Dira’s, though only a few so far. Aside from the plants, there was a round and squat pot in a deep blue colour with sweeps of white and green paint. It sat on the shelf behind the desk, along with a picture of an older brown skinned woman with a heart shape face, natural black kinky curls not unlike Dira’s, and the dark eyes of a Betazoid. On the other side of the pot was a brown skilled Haliian man with a greying moustache, short dark hair and a receding hairline that made his forehead ridges and bulges more prominent.

Her dark eyes gazed at Mariah and Dira smiled, gesturing to one of the chairs at her desk. “Ahh, Lieutenant, thank you for coming. Join me.”

Mariah entered as invited, a genuine smile gracing her own features. She did take a cursory glance around the office, not as a mental health professional looking for clues, but as a human being genuinely curious about her surroundings. Frankly, she was much more curious about what the woman before her was going to say in anything else. Objects could reveal things, but nothing could be quite as revealing as seeing another person’s tone, mannerisms, and selection of words. “I was happy to oblige,” Grayson replied, deciding if she were to mention the other woman’s seniority and Grayson’s obligation to comply, it would come across as much too harsh.

Her dark eyes took Grayson in. “Have a seat, Lieutenant.”

Dira folded her hands on her desk and leaned forward with a soft gaze. “So, you’ve been on the Ogawa for quite awhile now, and from everything I’ve heard, you’ve been a very valuable part of the psychiatry team. How do you feel about your time here to date?” While she was being a bit formal, she was relaxed and sincere wiht wanting to hear honest answers from Mariah.
