She chuckled. “Well, I am enjoying having quarters and being out of Sickbay, but they do still feel like guest quarters, so yes. Though to be honest, this is one of those weird memory things where I can’t be sure if I know what all is in there. It wasn’t like I had had a chance to go through everything before I… disappeared, and we only unpacked a couple crates if I recall correctly. It’ll be like getting presents all over again.”

“Well… I’m happy to help you unpack if you want. We only did one or two crates on the Saracen, so I am kinda curious what all is in there, too.” he said with a smile. “Especially of we come across a high school prom picture. That will be worth the effort of holding onto that stuff all this time.” and he laughed.

Royal

“Ha!” Cori said. “I’ll have you know we had no such thing, but we did take graduation photos and there was a dance that night. I wasn’t really as social those last years of high school, but there might be photos from my Academy days. I’m not even sure.” The reality had been that her adoptive parents had died when she was fifteen, so everything had been harder those last couple of years of school. Then again, the entire colony had been recovering from the Klingon occupation, so it was a bit messy all around.

“I’ll take Academy, sure. But only if some are from your Fourth Year Exam Break.” and he chuckled. It was not only common knowledge, but absolute tradition that fourth year cadets- during the break between their final exams and the announcement of their first posting- throw parties and go a bit wild. “But, ah… you show me yours and I’ll show you mine.” and he grinned.

Dropping her one arm and folding them on the table, she leaned forward. “You do like to live dangerously, don’t you?” There was just something between them that was hard to pinpoint exactly. There was chemistry, yes, but it was more like after everything the space between them was a safe one where they could be flirtatious and even a little outrageous and it wasn’t going to be turned around and used against the other one. He didn’t know how she used to be and in some ways Cori was glad for that. At the same time, while she had gone through a lot back then, there was something about the carefree and vibrant Corinne Dalton that she was eager to explore again.

Royal leaned forward and said “Not always… but some things are worth the risk.” and he grinned. “For ins5ance… seeing a holo or three of you from the Academy. I think that would be worth sharing some highly classified ones of me from back then. And, if you play your cards right, maybe a vid or two of me in my rugby days. ” and he laughed softly.

Royal

Her all too blue eyes glittered. “Well, I will have to see what still exists. To be honest, I didn’t make really any friends at the Academy. People I was friendly with, but no real true friends. I floated around and I guess people thought I had a big social life, but really I kept to myself and studied a lot. I just did so publicly, if that makes sense?” That and she dated a lot but never anything serious. Many flings.

~Corinne Dalton

“Makes perfect sense.” he said. “I did kind of the same. My first year was really hard. I lost my granddad three days before I started. So I was pretty reserved the first year or two. But I do have a couple of friends I still talk to. But I went through the motions of socializing… at least until I wasn’t going through the motions anymore.” and he chuckled.

Royal

She smiled. “I’m glad you have people you still keep in touch with. Those connections are important.” Cori drew circles with the tip of her fingers in the condensation on the glass. “I was just started to figure out socializing on the Saracen when I… disappeared again. It’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that that is no longer a concern. Or at least not in the same way as before.”
