After he finished with the psych eval, Mike rubbed the bridge of his nose, setting off to sickbay. He never understood why they had to have a boarding physical for each assignment, but Starfleet was weird like that. He entered sickbay, and looked around for a medical officer to conduct said boarding physical.

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Dr Jarvis walked through the door into the sickbay to begin his first shift. The experience of having been able to walk around the ship without some form of escort had been a novel one. He had drawn numerous stares for his ‘reversed’ colour uniform, but the moment he had given the slightest inclination he had caught someone, the offending party had quickly made themselves scarce. This did not bother him one iota. In fact, the possibility of him already having some sort of reputation amused him. A quick glance around the room revealed that there would be no wait for his first vict… patient.

“And who might you be?” Dr Jarvis asked from the doorway of the young man who stood looking around the room. He scanned the individual up and down; human. “You don’t look in need of medical attention to me. What are you doing here?”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D.

Mike turned and looked at the older man, studying him briefly before responding. “Ensign Michael Thompson, Engineer, and I’m here for my boarding physical.” He huffed sightly, glancing further into sickbay, and seeing how not-full it was. “Unless ‘nothing’ is more important to do, I can come back.”

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Jasper sighed internally at the realisation that this would simply be a bread and butter job. And he had secretly been hoping for some sort of rare disease, no such luck it would seem. He looked Ensign Thompson in the eyes. “Since nothing would allow me time to catch up with my journals I would postulate that it is more important. However, since you are here I might as well make use of you. Who knows what nasty little curious may be hiding inside your body.” He strode past the Ensign to the nearest biobed, pulled out the tricorder he had been issued with and flipped it open. “Lie down, Mr Thompson.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D.

Mike raised an eyebrow at the man’s seeming eagerness to find something wrong, but he climb up on the biobed and laid down. “I’m in as good of health as I’m going to be.”

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Dr Jarvis glanced up at the readings on the biobed as he started a basic vitals scan on Thompson. “I hope for your sake that you are not in ‘as good’ health as you are going to be. If that is the case then you will soon find yourself on a downward spiral.” Jasper thought for a moment as he checked the results of the scan against those displayed on the biobed. A thin smile spread across his face. “Indeed, if that were to be true you may as well donate yourself to medical research now. At least then you will have contributed something positive to society.”

OOC Sorry Katy you drew the creapy one, can I have some scan results please.

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

With the exception of very small trace amounts of radiation from being around various engineering spaces, the scan came back with nothing.

“It’s a figure of speech, doc.”

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Jasper looked at the readings and snorted to himself. Perfectly healthy… perfectly boring. While he could possibly make something of the trace amounts of radiation it would hardly be worth his time. Besides, he did not wish to draw the ire of his superiors over something so irrelevant. “I hope for your sake that is the case.” He picked up a PaDD containing the Ensign’s medical history and began scrolling through. Perhaps there would be something in there to perk his interest.

OOC Can I have anything of note in Mike’s medical file, the juicier the better.

Dr J.Jarvis M.D

There was one report of the year-long recovery from a crushing injury when a crate of ship parts slipped and fell onto Mike’s leg. The injury had since healed, and is not listed as a problem for his Starfleet physical when he went to the academy, but it was only 11 years earlier, and the description o the injury was quite detailed and gruesome.

Michael “Mike” Thompson

A macabre smile spread across doctor Jarvis’ face as he drank in each and every detail of the Ensign’s injury. From the details of the incident, there could have existed the potential for the man to have lost the limb. He looked up from the PaDD at Thompson, his lips still curved upwards and a glint in his eyes that had not existed prior to his reading of the file. He detached the handheld scanner from the top of his tricorder and began scanning the appropriate leg.

“Tell me, Mr Thompson, do you ever experience any stiffness or discomfort in your leg?”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

“You mean my leg that was injured? Every once in a long while I will get a throbbing pain, but its nothing I’m not used to and it doesn’t effect my duties.” Mike said, not liking where this was going, “I spent long enough recovering, I’d be upset if I did.”

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Dr Jarvis looked down his pointed nose at Mike, a stern look on his face. “A throbbing pain that does not affect your duties? Tell me, Ensign, what if you took one of these throbbing pains while climbing a Jeffries tube or on an away mission that results in you having to run for your life?” His eyes glanced down at the tricorder screen momentarily. “Can you be certain that one of these throbbing pains would not endanger either the life of another crew member or your own?”

OOC: Hey Katy. Sorry if Jasper is being a bit of a douche, however, it is in his nature to pick up on such things. If you don’t want things to go any further regarding Mike’s leg I can let you off with nothing more than a prophet of doom remark.

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

“It won’t. They’re rare enough that I’ve grown accustom to ignoring them when they do happen. The most that will happen is I will be sore the next day, if it was genuinely a problem, I think Starfleet Medical would’ve picked up on that years ago when I joined.” Mike said, a slight edge in his voice.

OOC: You’re fine ^^

Michael “Mike” Thompson

Dr Jarvis gave the Ensign a look of derision. “Yes, well we wouldn’t want to contradict the good doctors at star-fleet medical now, would we?” It was not a question. The doctor made a few notes on the PaDD before adding, “however, should you find yourself falling down a Jeffries tube because you’ve taken one of your ‘throbbing pains’, just remember that you received ample warning from a competant medical professional.” He moved to turn the biobed off. “Other than that your health meets the minimum requirement. You may go when ready, Mr Thompson.”

Dr J. Jarvis M.D

Mike scoffed, “noted. Though I won’t be falling like that.” He said, getting up and heading out quickly.
