NE Delivery wandered into Engineering pushing a crate in front of him. He stood looking around and wiping the sweat off of his brow. His cargo was heavy.

“Hello? Got about three dozen…” he looked at the PaDD with the order in his hand. “…chrome floor to ceiling support poles to hand over for immediate installation.” He looked around,

NE Delivery

Mark stumbled out of his office, clearly having been in engineering much longer than his shift. “Over here.” He sipped a cold coffee. “I’m Lt Pierce, I can sign for them.” He struggled to remember exactly where these were being installed. One of the twenty PaDDs on his desk would have that information.

The NE handed the PaDD over for signing and said kindly. “You ok chief? You look beat…maybe you should go to sickbay or to bed? If you want I can organise these being installed.”

The PaDD seemed to indicate that one of the support poles was to be installed on every deck alongside a small platform around each to steady them and a set of spotlights for, as the PaDD said, safety reasons.

Random

“Just had a lot of Engineers call in sick today. Including the night watch Chief.” He signed on the dotted line and then returned it to the NE. “Round up five or six engineers.” If we have that many. “I’ll run the setup from there.” Spotlights for safety reasons. Odd. He’d have to see the spaces for himself later to determine if these actually served any purpose.

Mike slipped into Engineering, he had a throbbing headache, but he was needed on the job, so he came to work, despite being 20 minutes late. He said a silent ‘thank you’ to the forces that be at Lieutenant Pierce was distracted, this wasn’t his first time he was late.

Mike did stop to listen however, and caught that there were support poles being delivered. *Support poles? We need those?”
