The young woman’s eyes went wide and for a moment she blanked. Blinking, she took in a breath and answered, “Cadet Daniella Damisele, ma’am.” Fully aware the other woman had her by the collar, she glanced back at Branson, her lower lip trembling. “Oh, poor Losa. He was so nice!” she said, her voice heavy with sadness.

An NE engineer entered with a repair kit, the officer assigned to do whatever he could for this deck. Behind Haven and Damiselle, a familiar face came into view. =/\=Lt Pierce… I found Ensign Hart Sir. He’s… um. Sir, it looks bad. He has a brace coil buried in his chest.=/\=
=/\=Leave it alone and wait for medical. He’s probably already gone. I’ll notify the Captain.=/\=

“Shouldn’t we call sickbay?” Adrian Sorel said as everyone had been talking but noone had called for help yet.”And Security?” He looked unsure as only an adolescent could.

IC: “Unfortunately, he had to have died pretty quickly. I am sure Medical will get here soon to handle it. And in case you haven’t noticed, I am Security Mr. Sorel.” She gave the young man a half grim smile and looked back at the young woman who had identified herself as a Cadet.

Adrian Sorel’s head dipped in embarrassment, “Yes, Ma’am.”

Moments later, Brad and two NE nurses bustled in to the lounge. It was easy to see the code black, since there was a crowd gathered around him.

“Make a space, coming through,” Brad said, nudging people aside until he caught a glimpse of the poor sod.

Ah. Yes, that was definitely a fatal wound in a human. Still, formalities had to be observed.

“OK, everyone, I need you to clear away, but remain IN this room until Security arrives to take a statement. If you’re injured, queue up by Nurse Ratchet and Nurse Clank, they’ll see to treatment of any minor injuries, or let me know if you have something serious, but non-fatal to deal with,” he said, addressing the lounge staff and patrons.

Once the crowd began to disperse, he pulled out his tricorder to get a scan of the body, while letting his eyes roam over the space above the corpse. That column had to have come from somewhere, afterall…

Adrian Sorel back up with the others as asked and then moved over to one of the line ups where the nurses were so his head injury could be seen too. It had seemed to stabilize once he was up and about. He wasn’t seeing double anymore but it did hurt abominably and his eyes were half slitted as the throbbing continued as he kept his hand on the injury embarrassed by the blood which still dripped as some of it ended up on the floor.

Walker’s scan showed that the brace coil had pierced the pericardium and gone right through the aorta. But it was not a straight piercing as one would expect with a driving impact injury. No, the coil had twisted and looked like it had moved upwards slightly, tearing through the the surrounding tissues.

“Well, it was quick, at least,” Brad said quietly. “And not likely an accident, judging by that twist,” he added. He only had the minimal Medical Examiner’s qualifications - just enough to be a Department Head on a starship, honestly - but from what he could determine, this was almost definitely a homicide.

She called for security NE’s to come to the Lounge to take statements. The last thing she wanted to do was to let go of the self identified cadet. Her eyes took in the scene now that she had the young woman by the collar. How could the young man have died. “You.” She said to the Cadet as she pulled them away from the dead body. “Stay with me.”

Then to the room at large, she asked, “Did anyone see what happened to Ensign Hart?”

Haven, Security

“No, Ma’am. The lights went out when the ship lurched. When they came back on …he was like that.” Adrian Sorel said from where he stood quietly accepting treatment from one of the medical personnel.

Nurse Clank cleared away the blood from the wound and began applying the dermal regenerator to Adrian’s temple.

Adrian Sorel gave the nurse a small smile and nod of thanks as he watched what was going on with the dead officer. He chewed his bottom lip as he watched wondering idly why someone would want to kill the man. In all the years serving on ships with his mother he had never seen violence like this before.

Bump for GM

Brad consulted his tricorder again, to confirm the body’s identity. He didn’t recognize him, but even on a small ship, that wasn’t unusual, since his job was now mostly administrative and he didn’t perform many physicals.

“Oh, Losa,” Cadet Damiselle said softly, her face stricken with grief.

The body was identified as being Ensign Branson Hart from the engineering department.
