Two of the medical staff appeared in the requested biohazard gear and medkits. One was an ensign from the Ogawa and the other a crewman medic from the starbase contingent. “The isolation room is ready. What’s happening?” the ensign asked as they approached.

“We’ve all been hit by some sort of weird psychotropic substance,” Brad replied, still twitching. “I’ve got no idea how he,” he said , indicating Maddington, “got it, but he seems to have passed it to her,” here, he indicated Papillio, ” and, unfortunately, me too. “

“Uhh, right, Ensign Mendez said, very grateful the chief had the foresight to order protective gear.” She took out a tricorder and began scanning the group, while Crewman Itah watched the affected with a keen gaze.

NE Maddington tried to stumble upwards but then started tugging at the collar of his shirt. “Ensign,” he asked the one from the starbase, “Where are the rose gardens? I think the queen will be very cross if the white ones aren’t painted red.” He cast a glance to Papilio, “Why yes we must get on with it shouldn’t we? I wouldn’t want to lose my head.”

Itah’s brows rose, though it was a bit hard to see inside his helmet. “There’s an arboretum? he said. “One deck down…”

The two NEs looked over to Walker, “Aren’t you late, sir? For a very important date?”

“Hm, yes, I am due for tea soon, I think,” Brad said, and just the thought of a nice cuppa with friends was enough to cut his anxiety nearly in half. “Just as soon as we get you to the Infirmary and start puzzling out just what the Hell you’ve infected is with.”

Lonely in a lonely place. That about summed up how Ever was feeling after an hour of roaming empty hallways on the starbase. Certain her quarters had to be nearby, she continued to move from one long corridor to the next. Rounding yet another corner, she had expected this one to be just as desolate. Stopping short, just narrowly avoiding making contact between the forcefield and the end of her nose, Ever took in a long and sharp breath.

Beyond the forcefield, Ever studied the group of people who had assembled for goddesses only knew why. Perplexed as to what exactly the situation was, she continued to stare. One man was wearing a white lab coat and was performing something humans referred to as the “pee pee” dance. Other medical technicians stood around with equipment looking at two ensigns. One of the ensigns looked like he might have over indulged in Romulan Ale. The female ensign looked as though something didn’t quite smell right. Ever looked back and forth across the group and finally said in a very questioning tone, “is everything alright here?”.

Lt. Commander Ever Zeanar, COP

” Decidedly not!” Brad exclaimed. “I’m late for tea, and this looney is going to inconvenience me!”

Cmdr. Dr. Brad Walker
Chief of Staff

“Tea? I am sure that will wait Doctor,” Ever said as her lower lip sunk in disapproval. For a moment she could not remember his name from the ship’s manifesto. Might have been Walker. But somehow he looked a bit paler and shorter than she had imagined. Who the ‘looney’ he had referred to she wasn’t sure as she passed a looked back and forth between the small group of officers. “I think we had better run some scans and make sure everyone is ok before we pass put any more drinks.”

Oh no, another person who could be affected. They didn’t know exactly how this substance was spread but it was definitely affecting people’s behaviour. The biosuited Ensign Mendez turned to Zeanar, her concern evident. “Possible psychotropic substance, ma’am. We’re going to bring everyone to the Infirmary right Chief?” she said, shifting her gaze to the clearly now affected Chief of Staff.

Chief. As in the Chief of Staff, Dr. Walker. Ever nodded as she took in what little information being presented. From the looks of what she was seeing and hearing it did appear as though the good doctor and his friends were high on something. “Well, good thing psychiatrist is my speciality. Dr. Walker doesn’t appear to be able to make appropriate command decisions.  We are going to need to use the transporters so we don’t come in contact with anyone and spread whatever this is around any more.”

Ever went to the left bulkhead and touched the control panel, “Commander Zeanar to infirmary, I have three officers who appear to be infected with mind altering substances. They will need to be beamed straight to you. Please make sure the transporters scan for bio-hazards and filter them out. And put them straight into isolation. I will follow shortly and lend a hand.”

Lt. Commander Ever Zeanar, CoP

The ship she was due to join was the Ogawa. But when she arrived at 157, she saw something that made her start to doubt her desire to join the prestigious starship. It was in refit and looking a bit worse for wear. She wasn’t sure, from her limited view on approach, just how bad it was. But she saw enough. “Great… prestige on a bucket of bolts.” She sighed murmuring under her breath as the transport set to dock and she disembarked with reassurances her two crates would be delivered to the Ogawa. She slung her shoulder bag up and headed inside the station.

Once there, she tapped out the Chief of Staff for the Ogawa to see if they were around. The computer spit back that the Chief of Staff for the Ogawa was currently on the station Promenade. She quick queried his bio for a photo to refresh her memory and headed to the Promenade to seek out the first of many contacts she would make. “Well, Nyf, you wanted adventure… careful what you wish for next time.”

The young virologist headed to her new chapter in life.

About the time the Psychiatrist was sending a comm to have the group beamed out, a young woman with short red hair came towards her with a smile. “Excuse me… I was looking for Commander Walker. The computer said he was here.” She glanced at those beyond the CoP and raised a curious eyebrow at the strange behavior.

Lt JG Jenyfer Lynset
Virologist

“That’s me!” Brad said. “Unfortunately, introductions will have to wait. I’m currently late for tea!”

…and stoned out of his gourd, but that rather went without saying at this point.

The transporter room commed back to Zeanar, =/\=Transporter control to Doctor Zeanar, ready on your mark.=/\=

Jen glanced at the woman then back at the Commander. A bright smile lit her face. “How fantastic! I believe you are who I came to fetch to tea, then.” She glanced at the Chief of Psychiatry. “Is that right, Ma’am?” She wasn’t sure what was going on, but if it kept the man from wandering off while they got a lock on him, all the better.

Jenyfer
Virologist

“Sure, Lieutenant. Why don’t you see if some of the security officers have Dr. Walker’s...... tea and meet us in the infirmary,” Ever said as she pressed the control panel to finish the lock and transport. She waited a few seconds to double check that three officers arrived safely at the medical department before closing the connection on the panel. Wiping her brow with the back of her thumb knuckle, she wondered if she had accidentally turned up the temperature in the hallway. Probably just stress. Ever turned back towards the newly arrived science officer. Well, she might have been a doctor. It was hard to tell one uniform from the next sometimes. Feeling slightly subconscious at the wrap she was wearing decorated with large blue and yellow flowers, Ever wiggled her toes in the sandals on her feet. As she had been returning to her quarters from the stations pool, she also remembered the bikini she was wearing under the wrap. Vacation seemed to be over. Time to get back to work.

“Right, let’s get security and meet back in the medical bay. Think they are going to need all the help they can get. No telling how far, whatever this thing is, has spread. What is your speciality Lieutenant? ” Ever asked as she began walking across the hall in the direction the officers had just been teleported from, not thinking about contagions.

Zeanar, CoP
