“That sounds wonderful,” Ria smiled and linked arms with Achilleas. They chatted a little while walking towards the restaurant and it wasn’t long till they arrived at the place. It had a wide open doorway, so that the interior was in plain sight. The lights were dim and round, wooden tables with more or less matching chairs were scattered around the room. Along the right hand side of the room ran a long bar and soft, slightly dark and eerie music was playing in the background. Not all tables ere occupied, but the patrons seemed to be a vast mix of people. Some were obviously Starfleet officers as they were dressed in their uniforms. Others might be civilians or just in civilian attire like the two of them. While it wasn’t exactly a dodgy place, it had a bit of a strange and dark vibe.

Not knowing what to say, Ria raised her eyebrows and simply looked at Achilleas. This was not the kind of place she would have picked, but who knew. Maybe it was actually a really good restaurant. Despite the fact that it looked more like a pub or bar.

Achilleas froze after the bar came into sight. “This…” he began, “This was where they said would be good for a first date?” He sighed before looking at Ria with a pained expression. “I’m so very sorry Ria. I asked for some advice on where to go because I wanted this to be the best first official date for us, but I didn’t know that it would be a bar. I thought it’d be a nice restaurant with some music and drinks available. I really wanted this night to be specially. I’m really sorry Ria. I understand if you don’t want to go here.”

“It’s … different,” Ria replied a little hesitantly. “It reminds me a bit of Quarks’ on Deep Space Nine. Not that my parents ever allowed us to go in there, mind you.” A soft, kind of nervous laugh escaped her lips. She wasn’t entirely sure if she wanted to go in there, but also didn’t want to hurt Achilleas’ feelings. So she said truthfully, “You don’t have to apologise. It’s not your fault. And who knows, maybe … maybe it’s actually a really good place?” The last part was much more of a question than anything else. Yet as nervous and uncomfortable as she was starting to feel, she didn’t want to let that get into the way.

Starbases, even Fleet bases, had their nooks and crannies. The various places that could come and go seemingly on a whim. And as much as the atmosphere was important, Dira secretly loved a great name. She liked it when establishments were evocative of their intentions, so it was with a great deal of curiosity that she found herself wandering into the wonderfully named Likeable Hornet. Long gold skirt flowing as she moved, the lights caught it in a subtle glimmer as she moved, the one shouldered vibrant purple top providing a centring calm. A calm that was reflected in the wearer.

That calm as very much contrary to the vibe of the place, but still Myqian ventured in her identity as a Starfleet officer noted only by the badge she wore. Of course, she had met with Petrakos already, but she didn’t know him well enough yet to be able to distinguish his presence from the others there and and her inquisitive gaze hadn’t landed on the CSO just yet.

Commander Myqian, XO

Achilleas was too on edge to notice the XO as he led Ria into the Likable Hornet. He checked in with a hostess who led them to a relatively quiet corner table. At least the music was less pounding here and he could hear himself think. “I was hoping for something a bit quieter.” He started a bit loudly to be heard. “I’m sorry if this isn’t the most romantic date for our first, but at least it will make for a good story right?” He tried to chuckle a bit at that but it sounded strained.

Not having met the First Officer before, Ria was perfectly oblivious to her presence and for a moment didn’t think about who else was in the bar as she reached for his hand. She had thought about kissing him, but with the table between them and her clumsiness, she decided not to risk it. “You don’t have to apologise, Achilleas,” she said tenderly while trying to speak a little louder than normal to ensure that he could hear her. “It’s different from any place I’ve ever been to before, but not horrible.” And while she didn’t feel entirely at ease, she wasn’t lying either. “Please don’t beat yourself up over it.”

Achilleas smiled a bit more at ease at Ria’s reassurance. He received her hand and squeezed it gently. His self-admonishment eased considerably at her sweet words and actions. He was going to have some words for those who gave him advice though. This was not a great place for a first date in any way.

He ran a hand over his face before he gave a smile. “Thank you Ria. All this anticipation has made me hungry though. What do you think you’d like to get?”
