“Wait… spread?” Jenyfer turned to step in front of the woman and make her stop. “What do you mean, spread?” She had a look of concern on her face. “You asked what my specialty was. I’m a virologist.” She laughed. “Before we go any further, you need to tell me how you ‘think’ it spread and if you think you, or even myself, now, could spread it to others on our way to Security. I don’t mean to be rude, or press my luck with a superior officer I don’t even know. But I think we need to make this a priority even more. Don’t you?” She nodded with respect but didn’t reach out a hand. If it was by touch, hopefully she was ok so far. “I’m Jenyfer Lynset.”

Jenyfer
Virologist

“Well Jenyfer Lynset. I have no idea what ‘it’ is or if there is a contagion. Merely a guess from what I was picking up from the medical officers that were here when I walked around the corner. And an observation from the behaviour of the Chief Medical Officer. Not sure we can get it from contact, cause he seemed more like he was hallucinating. So a guess is he ingested something not good. And since everyone was either suited up or behind a field, I didn’t touch anyone either,” Ever said not even pretending to hide the fact she just picked up a few of the virologist’s thoughts. “But it seems more your speciality than mine. Unless he is just bat poo crazy. Either way, you are correct. We need to sound the alarm. Hence altering security. On the chance it is transmittable though, how do you recommend we proceed?”

Zeanar, CoP

Jenyfer listened and smiled. “Well, first off, I’m thinking ‘bat poo crazy’ probably isn’t the answer. At least, I’m hoping not. That would mean a preexisting condition no one caught before.” Laughing she shook her head. And I’m not sensing you going nuts either. So either ingestion or touch is probably a good place to start. My suggestion is we make our way to medical. But we need to not pass thru main areas of the ship. Or we need to transport as well. On the off chance this ‘is’ a touch contagion, with a longer than instant incubation period, we can’t chance touching a lot of folks.”

“Well Jenyfer Lynset,” Ever started off with the same phrase again, wondering for a second why she was repeating herself. “I don’t make it a habit of randomly touching people. “

She frowned a moment. “Do you know if this is an isolated incident or are others on the ship infected, that you know about?” She didn’t like the idea of having walked into something she’d end up labeling a pandemic. But to even have a couple folks affected meant something was terribly wrong.

Jeny
Virologist

“I have no idea. I really just walked into the situation. Maybe we should have the computer track the CMO’s steps and make sure there are no other causalities he might have infected,” Ever said touching her hair that was still damp from the pool water. Feeling subconscious that she was still in a wrap and swimsuit, she wished she wasn’t so far from her quarters and a uniform.  Ever stepped around and behind Jeny to reach the computer panel.

“Computer, display Dr. Brad Walker’s timeline of activity today. Also send out a priority one alert to Ogawa’s command crew and Starbase 157 security team of a possible contagion and infection. Possible......pandemic. Origin of transmission, unknown. Symptoms appear hallucinogenic in nature.”

Lt Commander Ever Zeanar, CoP

The computer displayed a map on the screen showing the general rounds that the CMO made for the day (OOC: Brandon if you want to provide more detail here that would be swell). In total, since the CMO wasn’t the CMO of the station he was mostly doing what a guest doctor would do.

He’d started in his guest quarters, and his dot stayed there (though moving around a little) for several hours, before starting to walk around the outer edge of the station, taking him past where the Owie was laid up (lingering in front of a particular viewport for several minutes), and eventually ending up in this corridor.

For the previous few hours he had come across the two infected NEs and attempted to render aid. What ever it was, if he had been infected with something, given the other reports coming over the comms, the R naught of the “virus” was likely greater than 1. However it was important to point out that the symptoms were inconsistent with a viral infection. They were more consistent with psilocybin poisoning.

Jen watched and frowned. “Ok, so we know he came in contact with a couple folks who needed aide. I’m guessing that’s where he got it. We need to make sure those folks are isolated or at least in Medical. We then need to make sure Medical knows this is a contact spread, though not definitively. Making sure no one, and I mean ‘no one’ leaves medical till they are thoroughly cleared. And I think that means we,” she was interrupted as she was talking.

At that moment, over the general address system the cheery computer voice announced =/\= Attention Code Orange. Repeat, Code Orange. All emergency personnel are required to respond to their duty stations for briefing.=/\=

Chief of Staff

“Well, I guess the bug is out of the bag, so to speak. So I’m sure we are supposed to be going to our station, but my suggestion will be medical till we are definitely cleared. If we let them know we are coming, perhaps someone can meet us in the hall. Gloves and mask are a minimum, for protection of whoever is gonna scan and clear us. If it’s a touch only, we can limit chances of contact by not going into medical. And that’s providing that whatever is wrong with the others is even scannable and detectable.” She knew she was rambling a bit, it was how she logic out things in her mind.

Shaking her head, realizing the gibberish, she looked to the Psychologist. “So, quickest allowable way to Medical with the least possible contacts. Transporter would be best. And then a check to see if scans are readable on the infected so we can be scanned and cleared. Yes, that’s the best thing right now.” She looked at the woman and wondered if she might wonder if Jen had already been infected, with the way she was talking.

Jenyfer
Virologist

Ever had listened to the announcements, the computers response to her question and then rapid fire monologue from the virologist. Taking a couple of steps back, she wondered if the woman had touched someone along the way that had been infected. As for herself, she had literally not seen a soul until she had stumbled upon the strange query in the corridor. It all seemed that Jenyfer was keen to be transported to the medical department. Seemed as good as any other plan. And perhaps the quickest way to a uniform and a change out of her bikini. Pulling the wrap even tighter, she responded slowly,” Alright. Well I have told them we would be coming to medical shortly. Normally this isn’t exactly an emergency cause for using internal transporters for ourselves, since we, or at least I am not ill. Guess we could try it. With the alert sounded though, they may have reduced or stopped transporter usage. ”

As she was still standing next to the computer console, Ever touched the panel requesting the pair be transported to the medical department.
