Jenyfer shook her head at the hollered discovery of the spores. Coming back to the small cluster, she shook her head. “Same here. Spores present in lungs and blood.” She glanced at Aizala and smiled. “I’m Jenyfer Lynset, the new Virologist. I don’t believe we’ve met yet.” She didn’t offer her hand, but held up the protection gear by way of an apology. “And I think,” she glanced to the others, “that if this is in the air system we need to start finding the smallest concentrations and work backwards, isolating and treating the least infected. The ones at ground zero have reached max saturation at this point, and starting with them will compromise more on the lesser end. Agreed?” She looked around at those gathered and wondered just how big of a holodeck they were gonna need when this was all said and done.

Virologist

“Lieutenant Tija Aizala,” she replied with a bow of her head. “I am new as well. I specialised in Emergency Medicine and Trauma Surgery.” While all of that was true, she felt no need to inform either of them that she was officially on medical leave. After all, she still wasn’t entirely convinced that she needed to be on leave. Not to mention that they could use every doctor available right now. So she kept that tidbit about herself private and instead listened closely to the virologist’s analysis and action plan; nodding here and there, but saying nothing.

Alexis nodded, “Get started on that. We need quarantine sickbay. Get it running on it’s isolated ventilation system. That way we can make sure the medical staff at least stays clean. We need the bio suits too for anyone going out. Obviously some people have a natural immunity to it. Anyone coming in has to go through decontamination first. And in case the spores are relentless then we need to have each bed set up as it’s own isolated space.”
Lt. Bonner, AMO

((Shall I make another Main Sim thread seeking out the CE and working our way thru the ship to shut things down and isolate folks?))

OOC: You could probably just do a crosspost with the merchant area since that is where the CE is.

Looking from Bonner to Lynset, Tija said in her direct, somewhat curt way, “Having arrived on the Starbase only yesterday, I’m not familiar with the layout and everything yet. I don’t want to slow us down or worse cause more work by not knowing where I have to go. What is the best way to be of assistance?”

~Lt. Tija Aizala, Doctor (med leave)

Alexis began to laugh. The absurdity of this whole situation. “I’m…I’m sorry. Do you know how absurd this is. I only arrived 2 hours ago. Half of us are brand new and have no access and no clearance. The other half are spread out, and then the rest of the crew is affected by this. Jenyfer’s annalsys shows it is probably air born, so we need to get full biohazard suits on. Jenyfer can you take what you’ve got from that sample and make some kind of inoculant for it? We also need to find where this is coming from and kill it. It’s going to be slow work for all of us. The XO is on the way. For now let’s get the bio suits out and start setting up each biobed area as a self quarantine. Someone needs to set up the decontamination area for people to go through when entering the med bay.” Alexis had not expected to be giving orders so soon after arrival, but there it was. To stress her point, she moved to the biobed closest to her and began setting it up as a containment area. “As soon as we get the containment ducts checked for sickbay we’ll activate the containment protocol.” No need to turn it on if the fungus was in their duct work.
Lt Bonner, AMO

“Actually, the medical department should already be on it’s own system for air and life support from the rest of the station. That’s a standard safety protocol for this reason. Just put up a sally port effect for containment. Enter first space, get decontaminated and then enter into the bay. Should be a command already set up for it, just need to activate it, ” Ever said as she squeezed into her suit that seemed nearly a size too small. Taking a seat at the closest terminal, she checked to make sure the ventilation system in the medical department was self contained. While she waited for the answer, she began running tests on herself. “I suggest we all check ourselves and make sure none of us are infected. Won’t be much good if we are all as crazy as that lot too.”

Zeanar, CoP

Alexis nodded acknowledging her error. “I’d still like to wait to completely seal off sickbay until we know for sure the system and sickbay are clean.” Alexis put on her suit and then started taking samples from each of the crew. She labeled them all as she went and then handed them to Jenyfer to analyze. “Let’s see if we are all okay, then we’ll worry about the rest of the crew. Jenyfer, take whoever you need to help you run those samples and work on something to help the crew.”
“Thank you Cmdr Zeanar. I’ll admit to being some what off balance. This is not what I was expecting and I should have realized the system was already working by default.”
Lt. Bonner, AMO

Jenyfer took the sample. “Got it.” Tapping out a couple nurses nearby, she had them suit up. After doing the same, she set to work pushing all the samples of current occupants thru the tests to see who was infected.

“I think we’ve all been caught off guard with this,” Mariah offered to Alexis, turning to don her own suit, “but as a team, I know we can get a handle on this,” she added with an encouraging smile. Thinking of the earlier suggestion to put those infected into an Alice in Wonderland themed holodeck program, she then said, “Normally, I would advise not to do or say anything that reinforces the delusion, but we should keep the holodecks in mind if we can’t get a handle on things quickly, provided it can be contained there, if only to reduce agitation. Of course, it’s risky, as we can’t be sure the delusions won’t change for one person suddenly without warning.”

Grayson offered a smile and a nod of acknowledgement to the newly arrived medical officer. The scar was not lost on Mariah, and Grayson was curious, but couldn’t indulge it at the moment. “I’m happy to assist in the set up or I can do what I can to keep the patients calm. Just point me where you need me.”

~Dr. Mariah Grayson, Psychiatrist

As the tests were running, Jenyfer tapped on her comm. =^=This is Lieutenant JG Lyset, the station’s virologist. Chief Engineer,=^= there was a pause as she glanced to the nearby nurse for the name she was seeking, =^=Chief Mason, the infected seem to have caught something from spores that are in the air circulation system. We recommend and sweep of the station to clear the affected areas and cordon off the worst sections for decom and to monitor and contain infected. Those with severe hallucinations can be escorted to sick bay. Protocols are already set here. And we recommend respirators and as much skin coverage as possible till bio suits can be obtained. Acknowledged?=^=

She paused a moment wondering just how the sudden flood of info and protocols would be taken.
