Riani suddenly looked intently at NE Obvious and after a few moments she remarked, “Your hair wants cutting.” Turning towards Solal once more she asked completely out of the blue , “Why is a raven like a writing-desk?” With one eyebrow raised and her arms crossed in front of her chest, she waited for them to reply.

Achilleas grinned as things went into riddle time. He had an idea of what the answer was but as it wasn’t directed at him, he refrained from answering.

Petratos, the March Hare

Solal replaced the hat, agreeing with NE Obvious’s tip that it may be best to play along for now. “Why is it?” He asked Riani, his expression blank, or maybe mildly irritated? Either way, at least he was holding the cup of tea now… though not drinking it. He wondered if the tea caused their strange behavior. He wouldn’t chance it, not unless he had to. Solal had no idea what the answer was, so he waited for one of them to tell him, as he was sure they would.

~ Solal, Doctor

NE Obvious reached up with a hand and pushed down on the top of his fez, keeping the conical hat on top of his head. “I am fairly certain that my hair is not in need of cutting.” He gave a look at Solal and frowned slightly, worried, “Don’t let her cut my hair. Who knows what will happen!”

“Why is what?” Ria asked, looking bemused. ‘Why couldn’t people ask proper questions that actually made sense,’ she thought to herself as she looked up at Solal. “And when someone offers you tea, you should better drink it,” she continued firmly. Turning to NE Obvious she repeated, “Well, I am certain that your hair wants cutting. It says so. And both of you really should sit down. Standing there like that is rude.” And without another word she head back to the table and sat down next to Achilleas again.

~Iyun, the Mad Hatter

“Hmm…” Achilleas pontificated about the most pointless of topics. “I think you may be on to something my dear. The hair just screams for a cutting. One that complements the hat, shows of the lines and stitching in the most appropriate of ways, a cut that just shouts tea party goer. But we have no scissors and my shears are still in my quarters. I clearly can’t walk right no and who’d want to leave a tea party as fun as this? Would a cake knife work you think?”

Petrakos, the March Hare

“Hmm,” Ria mused, “a cake knife might work as long as it’s sharp enough. He seems to be reluctant to get a haircut, though, so you might have to hold him down, dear.” While she talked she eyed the large cake knife thoughtfully and then peered over at NE Obvious, chewing on her lower lip as she contemplated how to best go about giving him the haircut he needed.

~Iyun, the Mad Hatter

Nodding in a serious manner, Achilleas replied, “Of course my dear. You’ll have to bring him to me first though. I can’t quite ambulate over to him and definitely not quickly enough to catch him. Then I’ll hold him while you proceed with the cutting. Perfect. Though… we might need to clean the knife first. We don’t want to be barbarians who cut hair with frosting on the knife afterall.”

Petrakos, the March Hare

“Yes, indeed. Frosting in their hair wouldn’t do at all,” Ria mused while playing with the cake knife.

“You should not give anyone a hair cut with a cake knife,” Solal said, as he moved further into the room and took a seat. He would rather not make the two of them angry.

~ Solal, Doctor

Obvious gave Solal a withering look, “Not helpful, doctor. Your hair isn’t the one that is about to be liberated from his scalp.”

He looked back to the two science officers, “Can’t we, you know… not? I rather like the look.”

GM Wombat

“Hmm,” Ria pursed her lips and looked at NE Obvious for a few long moments. “I still think your hair wants cutting, but if you’d rather not. So be it.” Turning her gaze towards Solal she continued without missing a beat, “You never told me, why is a raven like a writing-desk?”

~Iyun, the Mad Hatter

A quick, silent irritated sigh escaped Solal. “I do not know the answer to your riddle.” He said, looking at Ria. Thinking about how to play along, he asked, “Would you like to tell me?” He said. He did not even really have a guess, otherwise he would give it, if only to get her to stop talking about ravens and desks. By now, he had realized that whatever had gotten into them, there was no talking reason into them. Though he was quite glad there was to be no cutting of Obvious’ hair.

~ Solal, Doctor

The door to the science lab, and Duvosa entered, taking a look around and scanning the room. Her face was covered in several small scratches and blood appeared to be slowly trickling down her skin.

“Someone called security?” She asked, looking curiously at the group assembled.

-Lt jg Duvosa, Sec

Obvious pointed out Iyun and Petrakos, “Yes, Lieutenant. I am afraid those two… and well the rest of science has gone quite mad! Though what I expect you to do I am not quite sure.”

He looked around, “Please tell me you aren’t… painting roses or something.”
