As the tests were running, Jenyfer tapped on her comm. =^=This is Lieutenant JG Lyset, the station’s virologist. Chief Engineer,=^= there was a pause as she glanced to the nearby nurse for the name she was seeking, =^=Chief Mason, the infected seem to have caught something from spores that are in the air circulation system. We recommend and sweep of the station to clear the affected areas and cordon off the worst sections for decom and to monitor and contain infected. Those with severe hallucinations can be escorted to sick bay. Protocols are already set here. And we recommend respirators and as much skin coverage as possible till bio suits can be obtained. Acknowledged?=^=

She paused a moment wondering just how the sudden flood of info and protocols would be taken.

Jenyfer
Virologist.

Alexis waited for the results to come back in to see if they could synthesize anything to help the infected crew. In the mean time she walked over to Lieutenant Commander Ever Zeanar. Alexis might be the AMO, or will be when she actually gets checked in, but Zeanar was the ranking officer at that moment. “What do you think Cmdr. Zeanar?”

In the meantime, Grayson turned her attention to putting on her own suit and cooperating with providing a sample to rule out her own infection. Naturally, she was curious how the fungal infection had made its way to the station to begin with, both as a matter of scientific curiosity and as a preventative measure for reinfection, but such questions would need to wait for now.

“I think the XO will be barking orders as soon as she walks through that door and demanding answers. So what do we know? What is the contagion? How is it spread? What safety measures have we done to prevent spreading and what needs to be done? Who and how many are infected? What is the rate of transmission? And how do we ‘cure’ whatever it is that is causing the problem? So let’s each take a part, get answers complied for Dr. Bonner. And then we wait,” Ever said from her work station. “I am working on prevention. For now, the medical bay should be safe. I am asking the computer to run decontamination protocols on the starbase. That may take awhile and might not be completely do able. All personnel have been notified. Problem is, how many are infected and spreading it as we speak. I can only assume we have a total outbreak.”

Zeanar, CoP

Jenyfer nodded to Zeaner. “You are right. Those are all answers we need. And quickly. And we should work on an airborne antidote if we can. Will be easier to spread and make sure everyone is inoculated as soon as possible. I will see if I can work on that. Protocols are already being given for the uninfected to protect themselves. I think that leaves number of infected to be the key here. So who wants to volunteer to get reports first by station, then by deck to see just how far this has spread.” She glanced around the room. “Anyone checking the air units to see if the entire ship was infected? If there are any areas this hasn’t reached yet, they need to be isolated immediately!” It dawned on her that with this low of a count, it’s possible she was on the leading edge of the infection and some parts of the ship hadn’t been affected yet.

Virologist

“I guess that should be me.” Alexis walked over to a computer terminal to record the reports. =^=Assistant Chief Medical Officer to all departments and decks. Please report any known or susptected cases of abnormal behavior. Initiate medical safety protocol 1.=^= (OOC: In other words, but all safety gear on! And someone please tell me where to cross post this, or maybe the GM will just be kind and give us the number of infected?????)

Brad had taken to rocking back and forth on his heels like a particularly anxious track star, which given his increasingly less-than-athletic physique was a somewhat amusing image.

He was also occasionally running a hand through his hair and muttering to himself about his lack of headware.

Chief of Staff

Alexis, now in her gear, looked over to the Cmdr. “Let’s get him into decontamination and then onto a biobed.” She walked over to the cmdr hoping, 1 the gear didn’t scare him in his current state, and 2 that he would go with someone he didn’t know. She stopped and looked at one of the nurses. “Cmdr. will you go with Nurse NE Adams? He’s going to help you.” She nodded to the nurse and said, “get him whatever head ware he’s wanting after he’s on a biobed and self contained.”
