“Depends on the day,” Dira said. “I prefer bodyweight type exercises most of the time, and I can do those just about anywhere, but I like having a large mat space to practice martial arts or like this, having machines to do a more intense cardio. To be honest, I’d rather not be in the gym. Give me a body of water to swim in, or a trail to hike in I’m happy.” Her heart rate had increased but the pace was gentle enough that it wasn’t like she couldn’t keep talking.

Zoi loved swimming, hiking, martial arts and bodyweight exercising. She tended towards the more HIIT bodyweight exercising, but it was nice to know that she and Dira had so much in common. They had compatibility in places she believed counted; not specifically that certain exercise routines had to match, but that they were not so completely different as to not enjoy activities together. Zoi liked sitting at home and reading or watching a movie as much as most people, but she also did a lot of movement in her off time to keep her body and mind sharp.

“Excellent. I enjoy all of those. I also like climbing, dance, yoga, and bike riding. I don’t do a lot of team sports, but I am not opposed to them.” She picked up her pace a little. “I do Yoga every morning when I wake up and every evening before bed… well mostly.” Zoi wrinkled her nose. “Can’t guarantee my nightly routine. I sometimes am too tired or slammed with tasks to be able to fit it in, but my morning routine? I don’t feel normal without it. Mindfulness is very important to my personal attitude. Do you do Yoga?”

Myqian matched Zoi’s increase in pace easily and smiled at her. “I do forms of it. I’ve discovered many cultures have their own take on stretching exercises that build full body strength, so… I guess yes, I do. It’s been the easiest exercise to incorporate into my routine, because I could even take 5 mins between patients and stretch my body enough to not get stiff.” She too couldn’t guarantee her routine, but at least once a day she meditated. She could go a few days without it, but she always stated feeling a bit on edge after awhile.

“But there are days, when the frustrations are high and I’ve been overworking that I just need something… vigorous to help me relieve all the tension in my body. Do find that too?” Maybe Zoi did so much on a daily basis that it was never necessary, but every security officer had a different approach.

Zoi’s mind blanked for a moment at the idea of Dira doing something vigorous to relieve tension. Her imagination went wild for a few seconds before she reigned it in. She really had her mind in the gutter for a moment and clawed her way back up mentally. They were in a public place and exercising together. “I would agree. I work out nearly every day, but there are definitely times that I push really hard or choose something that will challenge me physically. It is one of many ways to relieve tension and stress. I am sure our myriad of doctors on the Ogawa would be first in line to agree it is a healthy and recommended practice.”

Keep it light. Keep it light She turned her head to look at Dira for a moment, willing herself not to look down at the woman’s fine physique. She cleared her throat. “Peace of mind however, is harder to achieve I think. It requires discipline and focus.”
