Jenyfer nodded to Zeaner. “You are right. Those are all answers we need. And quickly. And we should work on an airborne antidote if we can. Will be easier to spread and make sure everyone is inoculated as soon as possible. I will see if I can work on that. Protocols are already being given for the uninfected to protect themselves. I think that leaves number of infected to be the key here. So who wants to volunteer to get reports first by station, then by deck to see just how far this has spread.” She glanced around the room. “Anyone checking the air units to see if the entire ship was infected? If there are any areas this hasn’t reached yet, they need to be isolated immediately!” It dawned on her that with this low of a count, it’s possible she was on the leading edge of the infection and some parts of the ship hadn’t been affected yet.

“I guess that should be me.” Alexis walked over to a computer terminal to record the reports. =^=Assistant Chief Medical Officer to all departments and decks. Please report any known or susptected cases of abnormal behavior. Initiate medical safety protocol 1.=^= (OOC: In other words, but all safety gear on! And someone please tell me where to cross post this, or maybe the GM will just be kind and give us the number of infected?????)

Brad had taken to rocking back and forth on his heels like a particularly anxious track star, which given his increasingly less-than-athletic physique was a somewhat amusing image.

He was also occasionally running a hand through his hair and muttering to himself about his lack of headware.

Alexis, now in her gear, looked over to the Cmdr. “Let’s get him into decontamination and then onto a biobed.” She walked over to the cmdr hoping, 1 the gear didn’t scare him in his current state, and 2 that he would go with someone he didn’t know. She stopped and looked at one of the nurses. “Cmdr. will you go with Nurse NE Adams? He’s going to help you.” She nodded to the nurse and said, “get him whatever head ware he’s wanting after he’s on a biobed and self contained.”

“Help me… find a hat? Meet Her Majesty? I’m very late, you see,” Brad said, allowing himself to be led by the NE.

While everyone was going about their business, Jenyfer was busy at work trying to isolate the fungus and make an antidote that could perhaps be pumped into the ventilation system to counter affect and spare the ship’s crew. Or at least be injected to help the worst of those infected and the others could wear off. As she worked, she began humming absently. The tune was a mix of a lullaby and something more haunting. Oddly enough, it suited her mood.

Ever swivelled around in her chair and address Alexis and the room, “what if we have this wrong? Bear with me a second and hypothesise with me. Say for argument sake, this is not a physical contamination or sickness. What if the cause is indeed psychological. I mean purely mental. They all seem to be under a collective hallucination. Let’s do brain activity scans. Though it would be really helpful if we knew who was infected or affected and where they have been. Identifying a patient zero would undoubtedly fill in a lot of blanks. Thoughts?”

Zeanar, CoP

Alexis appeared to be trying to tap her chin through the protective gear. “That’s very possible, but how? Someone with uncontrolled telepathic abilities? So a lack of control or maybe they are actually sick, but the only one?” How could they figure out how it started? “Those infected are too far into their hallucination to tell us who they came into contact with.” She taps her finger a moment. “Security feeds! When was the earliest anyone in here saw someone acting strange? We can start at that time index and move backwards. We have patients in the science lab, promenade, a holodeck, and where else?” She started assigning NEs to help go through the feeds while Jennyfer and those helping her kept working on the fungus problem. “Hopefully the XO will get here soon.”

Lt. Bonner, AMO

Jenyfer had been listening and nodded. “It’s an interesting idea. I say run with it. I’ll see if I can find a fungal cure in the meanwhile and we should certainly still purge the ventilation system since it’s been read as ‘contaminated’. But the spread could be on a more psychic level as well.” She watched them get started then turned back to her own work. With any luck, soon they would have a cure one way or another. And hopefully enough to cure all at once so this didn’t spread further or affect more of the upper Command.

Now fully in protective gear herself, Tija frowned slightly and walked over to one of the replicators while mulling the whole situation over. After replicating a simple baseball cap, she walked over to Walker. “Here Doctor,” she said, her voice a little less stern then usual. “Will that help to make you feel better? Will make sure to inform her Majesty that you’ll be late and that it isn’t your fault.”

~Lt. Tija Aizala, Doctor (med leave)

“Hm,” Brad said, taking the hat and turning it over in his hands, before placing it backwards on his head. “Oh I hope so,” he said. “I seem to have misplaced my pocketwatch. Maybe she’ll accept losing track of time if she knows I don’t have any means of telling it…”

Mariah appreciated the way everyone offered ideas from the perspective of their specific specialties. She considered Ever’s theory that their illness was at least in part psychologically induced. Grayson knew, of course, they couldn’t rule anything out, and she acknowledged the bias that many things often had a physiological cause could very well be clouding her judgment.

Seeing Walker, an impulse struck Mariah and she decided to see where it took her. “Excuse me, sir,” she said approaching Walker, “perhaps we could help you look for it and in the meantime, have a nice chat?” She looked over at Aizala and met her eyes. Hopefully, her fellow physician would understand where she was going with this, but she knew she was taking a chance and it was Grayson’s own fault if she wasn’t understood. Mariah believed the only way to gather data to determine if this was primarily psychological was to do as much of an interview as was possible.

OOC Lori: Please let me know if I’m overstepping. It just occurred to me building off Ever’s theory, this may be an interesting tangent to take for Mariah and Tija.
