“Chief, since you are the one person who isn’t in immediate danger of losing their mind,” Bob said. “Do you think you could actually find the central air circulation system of the station? If we have a cure or something we might just want to pump it straight in there.”

Oscar mindlessly tapped his legs for a second, considering the possibilities. He could probably go through the Jeffries of the station with relative ease, but lugging around the tools he would need to pop open the central life support systems once he got to life support control might be a problem. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that, even though he could do it, given enough time, it would keep him on the job for a really long and boring amount of time. Finally, Chief Cascarrabias lifted his hands to his sides.

“I think I’ll have to take off the trash can in order to do it fast, but there isn’t a fungus in the galaxy that can touch me - not since I was a teenager, at any rate. Okay, actually, I hate the taste of mushrooms if they’re not cooked right, but I’m immune to fungal infections, so, yeah, I can do it. How fast do you want it done?”

Cai meanwhile seemed confused. ”How the hell did they get infected with spores on the station?” he asked and looking up added. ”uhh question is it likely that any other ships docked or you know…trying to leave are infected too?”

Cai

“Oh, right…” Bob said aloud. He slapped his commbadge.

=/\= Mason to Chen. If you are still on the ship, stay there. There is something in the air on the station that is driving everyone crazy. If you’re still on the ship, close all airlocks and disconnect any support umbilicals until we can figure out what is going on. =/\=

Hopefully she was still on the ship.

When Oscar thought about the USS Ogawa, he shook his head. One little crisis, and nobody noticed his work. Well, somebody was probably going to notice that he’d rechristened the ship the King Grouch II eventually. It probably wasn’t going to be Chen, considering that you needed to be outside the ship to see it, but one could hope for the best.

“The alert should have locked down all incoming and outgoing traffic, but precautions are never a bad thing,” Dira said before exhaling. “Alright, I need to get to the Infirmary and its best if anyone who doesn’t have gear find some fast. So…” stepping away from the group, Myqian’s gaze swept the Merchant Area for any possible emergency storage lockers. There had to be some here, but that didn’t mean they would have what they needed. She could hope though.

OOC: Oh GM, can she find any or should she take her chances getting to the Infirmary?

Commander Myqian, XO

Its a Star Fleet Star Base at the end of the universe… There were plenty of isolation suits to be found. If not full suits like Oscar, at least rebreathers so that they weren’t sucking in potentially contaminated air.

Quickly finding one of the emergency equipment stashes, Myqian pulled out at least some of what they needed. She donned a rebreather herself before offering them to the others, especially Cai. “This will hopefully prevent you from becoming affected,” she told the teen calmly.

OOC: You all can choose to have a suit if you like. I just figured it more likely that in the commercial area rebreathers would be more common.

Myqian, XO

The boy took the offered rebreather he scowled slightly as be put it on. ”whatsbthe likelihood we aren’t all already affected just not showing loony tune reactions like that lot?” he asked

Cai

Dira shook her head. “We don’t know for sure. But based on what I’ve heard so far, it hits fairly quickly. If we’re already affected, well… let’s all hope we get to the Infirmary in time.” She closed the compartment and rose to her feet.

“Let’s go,” she said , heading off in the direction of the Starbase’s infirmary. Spinning on the ball of her foot, she walked backwards for a moment and looked at Bob and Oscar. “We obviously can jump in and help the Starbase engineers with environmental containment. And the Infirmary seems to be able to maintain their biofilters, but what about the rest of them? ” This wasn’t her area of expertise, but she was good at collaborating and brainstorming. All they needed was a direction and some semblance of a plan.

Commander Myqian, XO

Oscar realized that the Walrus had been off buying up whatever seasonings struck his fancy, and now, the Chief needed to convince the Walrus to go the Infirmary with the rest of the group. The Grouch was definitely tired of pretending to be the Carpenter, but he could keep up the facade for a little while longer. He walked up to the light Lieutenant and tapped him on the shoulder.

“My dear Mister Walrus, it would seem that the jovialities have relocated. The rest of the happy crowd we happened upon is headed there now; I believe that we will have much merriment if we follow them!”

The journey to the Sickbay on the station was more or less easy going, though unforgettable. The hallways were filed with either the affected or the few officers trying to control the damage. There were a few cases where the rescue team saw the individuals falling into the depths of their own madness. It was definitely worse of crew quarter decks. Perhaps it originated there.

Cai followed behind the others, careful to avoid some of the more…interesting people they encountered as they went. He frowned as two random NEs sploshed red paint across the walls and ran off again leaving a message that said ”All Hail the red Queen” this was getting out of hand.
