Oh the responses! And none of them would help either of them keep focused on their need for some propriety here. With how immersive the simulation was and the wonderful company, it was easy for Dira to forget she was still in the gym. For a moment she allowed herself to be grounded by the sound of their footfalls and the clear and steady beating of her heart. “Hmmm, that sounds like a challenge to me,” she said, just barely containing her smirk. “A welcome one too.”

“A challenge?” Zoi looked over at her companion and laughed. She had never been a challenge to anyone on a personal level. The idea was a novel one. “Well then, let the challenge begin. Catch me if you can Dira.” and suddenly Zoi was off like a shot, zipping her way along the trail, not the fastest she could fun, but definitely a pace that could only be described as challenging.

“Hey!” Dira said with a laugh. She broke into a sprint and sought to catch up. She could do short prints and slower long distance runs. In between though was definitely more difficult for her to keep up for anytime. But there was a fierce determination flowing through her and Dira was intent upon catching her quarry.

They passed the waterfall and while that could have been a potential distraction from their run, she suddenly found herself focused on Zoi and her quickening pace. What would happen when she caught up? The running environment was immersive enough that while she could have just glanced to the side to look at Haven, it was far more fun to pretend they really were on a fabulous trail.

The waterfall was lovely, but it’s beauty was mostly lost as a backdrop to their game. Zoi was an excellent runner on all sorts of surfaces from the smooth, to the intensely complex. Still, she chose not to completely outrun her pursuer. Her steps were light and quick. Besides, what did a quarry do who wanted to be caught? Get caught.

Up ahead was a loam meadow. Zoi remembered it from the last time she ran this trail. Grinning with a fierce and mischievous determination, she moved along the trail timing her plan with the small distance between her and Dira. There was a massive moss covered log over the trail, an obstacle programmed into the route. When she half climbed and half vaulted over the log, she stopped and turned with arms outstretched to catch her. Dira would have little time to correct herself and thus would likely end up in Zoi’s awaiting arms. If the momentum of Dira ended up making them tumble, the soft loam of the field would be an easy pillow to land on.
