Leaving the OMAP offices, Jessica took the leisurely route back to the Penthouse. Partially it was to avoid Juan Diderot and having to explain to him that his services would not be needed. The other reason was to think about things. In one month she would no longer be responsible only to herself. Not being married continued to gnaw at her; however, Jessica had no one to complain to about this situation. One word from her and Aedan would have them official before Jessica could say I do. She told Aedan she wanted a real wedding with guest, flowers, and her father walking her down the aisle and that is what Aedan was waiting for in order to make her Mrs. Jessica Teller. As Jessica exited the turbo her comm badge bleeped into life.

“Lt. Commander Vaughn,” she said activating it.

Lt Commander Jessica Vaughn. XO

=/\= Commander Vaughn… I have yet to congratulate you. This is Commander Garviz, I was wanting to know if you could meet me in the cargo bay on 12th deck. Some of your supplies arrived for the new baby, I was wanting to make sure these are all right before the men begin to bring them to Mr. Teller’s quarters.=/\= came back the voice, the words sounded pleasant, but the tone was neutral, bordering on cold almost. Garviz wasn’t one to be known as fluffy, friendly and congenial.

Garviz

Jessica stood still in the hallway processing Garviz’s request. For him, the message was downright warm and fuzzy. Jessica often felt uncomfortable around Graviz’s no nonsense demeanor. The man was never mean or outright hostile to her. He was just reserved as he seemed to be around most people. =/\=Thank you,=/\= Jessica said a bit surprised that he was handling the issue himself. Jessica knew he and Aedan had been friends for years. Maybe this was just a glimpse of that soft side she knew everyone had. Kids did that to people. Even if Garviz was not the marrying kind, it made sense that he would want to make his friend happy. This was probably his way to show it. =/\= On my way,=/\= Jessica replied entering the turbo and taking it to the appropriate level.

Stepping out onto deck 12, Jessica looked around the cargo hold. Recently deck 12 was not used heavily. A shipment of Federation supplies a few weeks back had been stored here and not yet processed. Until it was, other cargo spaces were being used. Knowing Aedan and his concern for safety, it made sense he would want anything delivered here to be in a secure location. “Garviz,” Jessica called out. The only instantly reply was the sound of her boots against the metal floors. “Hello,” she called out again walking around the bay.

Lt. Commander Jessica Vaugh, XO

There were no lights but some dim flickers, Garviz came out of the shadows slowly, a sinister look on his face. “I wasn’t sure you would come, normally Aedan has you so closely guarded… he protects what he loves but he forgets what his first love was… and that was his company… not some whore of a rent a cop. He really should have been more careful where he placed his seed.” as if on cue two men came up from behind her, taking her from each side as the put a rag over her face.

Normally Jessica would have bit back with an insult of her own in a situation like this but frankly, she was just too stunned. Jessica always felt uncomfortable around Garvis. She knew Garvis thought she was just with Aedan for the money. It didn’t matter how nice she was, Garvis comments had always been polite but cold and calculating as if each sentence was a way chip at the life she had with Aedan. This comment, however, was blatant and filled with pure hatred. There was no way Garvis could explain it off as Jessica being hormonal. Maybe that was why she was so slow to react. Aedan kept Jessica and his private life completely out of his OMAP life, yet when Jessica told Aedan about this conversation, there was no way he would not fire the man. She might have walked away from the insult if he hadn’t verbally attacked the baby. Her mouth opened as her anger bubbled over ready to cut Garvis down with fiery rhetoric of her own. It was that moment she felt two hands on her arms and a clothe smothering the air from her lungs.

“Heeeeeehhhhh,” she screamed out feeling her knees going week. Jessica might have been trained as a security officer but Garvis was too quick. He used the elements of distraction and surprise like a master. Jessica pulled at her arms in a desperate attempt to free them. The gas on the cloth was already seeping deep into her lungs incapacitating her.

“ehhhhh,” she moaned out softly.

“Sleep Ms Vaughn… this will all be over soon.” Garviz said, his voice that same neutral tone as he looked at the men as they began to drag her to the back.

Her head went fuzzy and her limbs felt thick. As her eys drifted close the last things she saw was Garvis standing above her adjusting his tie as if it was just another day in the office.

Meanwhile, at Aedan’s office, Jessica Adams busted in with a worried look on her face.

“We have a situation, Alonso is dead, and these two…” she said as she turned around looking at some executives who had been at the outpost a few weeks ago that Aedan assumed had gone looked back worried and concerned as she let them in, “…think they know who did it.”

As the two talked of the meeting Garviz and Alonso set up, the pair of executives looked more and more worried as they told of the power play Garviz tried to make. It was a weird one, Garviz seemed less inclined of taking out Aedan ant trying to take over rather than just making distractions, Jessica Vaughn, disappear.

“Why did you decide to wait two weeks to tell me this?” Aedan asked, eyes steely as he looked at the pair. He knew Garviz was unhappy with some of his choices, but his dislike of his fiance’ was not something he had been aware of. Garviz seldom seemed to like anyone, he just was a stalwart security commander more than anything.

“We… we were unsure if he was serious. Until Alonzo was found dead, he was adamant we just try and remove you yet Garviz blocked that idea at each pass. He just… he just seemed to want your fiance’ gone. He seemed to think more and more she was a problem.

“Well… thank you for coming in, I do appreciate it. You’re both fired, out of my office now.” he yelled as he looked over at Ms Adams. “Find Garviz now, Jessica just left and after the Titanic incident things feel more in place. I took the guards off her recently, and Garviz knew that.” Aedan said, reaching in the top of his desk he pressed a button, which revealed a phase pistol at the top as he took it, placing it in his coat holster.

“And locate Jessica now!” he ordered as he stepped away from his desk. Their apartment was the last place, but he needed to track the way she took. He wasn’t sure how much time he had.

==========
HANGAR 12

Darkness shrouded her as Jessica would begin to open her eyes, she was bound yet not gagged as she lay on the floor. Garviz and his two lackeys sat there, it was clear they were trying to do something, but it was unclear what.

Jessica woke slow enough to remember a bit of her training. She came back to reality but kept her eyes closed hoping to glean any information from the sounds around her. As her mind cleared she remembered all the players. Jessica might have played opposum if she had not been pregnant and recalled Garvis comment about the baby. She had to get away. Garvis could be dealt with later. The only thing that mattered was Bump. Trying to sit up, she felt an ache in her shoulders informing her that she was not only kidnapped but tied up in some fashion. A sharp inhalation of air as panic set in directed all eyes in the room on her.

“Boss, she’s awake, should I dose her again?”

“If you touch me I will shove a phaser down your throat,” Jessica threatened. This time she was not so passive. If she had been free, she would have attacked. She was not though and only had her wits and her words to fight off the three men in the room.

“No… no, she… she deserves to know the truth.” Garviz said as he looked down at the scared and terrified Jessica.

“That you are a homicidal manic,” she shot back with hatred in her eyes. At some point Aedan would be looking for her. Jessica had no idea how long she had been out. All she could hope was that it had been long enough for Aedan to worry and come looking for her. She had to stall and get Garvis talking.

“First of all, none of this was ever against you… I may loathe what you stand for but if I am frank, you didn’t do this… you just picked the wrong man to fall for. We’ve all been there… I know… Jonathan used to love me too but things change, I changed…” Garviz said, looking at her with ice in his eyes as he paused, wondering what to say next.

“How,” she said simply trying to quell the icy knot of fear in her belly. Garvis was too calm too collected. Whatever he was planning was premediated down to the least second. She knew Garvis was waiting to do whatever he was planning. Jessica’s only hope was to keep him talking until Aedan arrived.

“Oh darling, that doesn’t really matter now does it?” he said as he looked back, “Give her the doze prep the airlock.” he said to the men who moved over, hypo in hand as they readied Jessica’s dose.

=/\=What do you got Adams, talk now.=/\= Aedan said as he turned a corner, no one had seen her back at his place and he was at the last location her badge had been at. It was near a docking area, he had no idea what she would be doing there but the fact her signal trailed off didn’t make him feel good.

=/\=No one has seen Garvis for days, but he has used his access codes. Jessica had giving him access in this area to help bringing in the cast and crew for your reality show Outpost Foxtrot Tango, but we haven’t had new equipment in weeks after the actor who was playing Captain McGarret got got with those drugs while in that stripper joint on Risa, yet he was back here just yesterday. It has to be where he is at but it’s a large area.=/\=

“Wait…” Aedan said aloud, he saw some movment and flickering lights. He had thought about asking Starfleet to intervene, but he had to handle his own messes. Garvis had been going down a dark path for months, his war against the Cardassians never ended in his heart but he never once thought he was go to such lengths.

“Move her to the airlock with the debris, it’ll look like she was get stuff ready for transport when the malfunction will happen.” Garvis voice could be heard trailing behind. The shuffling of two others Aedan couldn’t see. Feeling into his pocket Aedan pulled at the phase pistol. It was a risk, he assumed Garvis disabled all the tracking data here. He would be a fool not to, but did he disable alarms for weapon discharge? He didn’t have time to think much longer.

Pulling from the shadows Aedan saw Garvis to the side and two men had hadn’t seem before, both were getting ready to move Jessica, but found holes in them quickly as Aedan discharged the pistol before turning it onto Garvis.

“Wanna explain this Garvis?” Aedan asked, the bodies of them men slumping next to Jessica as she rested, she looked mostly unharned but her state worried him all the same. “Why.... why the devil would you do this? I have you EVERYTHING! From the street gutters like me, you followed me, you were there through it all… and… this?” Aedan said his eyes sharp and cold as he narrowed on the man, he said nothing but you could tell Garvis was thinking. He needed an out and knew he had few chances with Aedan.

“You gave it all up… all for her. I couldn’t her poison what we made.” Garvis said, backing up slowly before a flash went off, Aedan shot his leg which brought any retreats to an end as Garvis fell to the floor hard, yet no scream or cry from him could be heard.

“What did I give up? Trafficking? The war is over… we won a long time ago… you just couldn’t give up the past. You always different after she died, but you were never filled with malice. Our war, we are kings, you a general that doesn’t have to fight. Why would you search for one…”

“That’s what you think, I never gave up… you never did either till she meet you. You sold and bled and traded with me, never once looking back till that whore got her hooks in you. Alice would have been ashamed you didn’t keep the fight up, her death was why we did it all!”

“No, it wasn’t… I did it cause I like to be in control, I manipulate… I conquer. I made an empire, and I found my queen… and no one will ever take that from me…”

Aedan heard a slight stir from behind him, the drug must have been wearing off but he didn’t have time to stop the action, his finger already pressed as the blast left the pistol flying towards Garvis heart in a flash of heat and fire as his body slumped down on the floor.

Aedan looked back at Jessica but knew she would still be out of it… he didn’t have much time. Three bodies, three bodies had to vanish, and he still have a prepped airlock.

Moments passed and the churning sound of the airlock cycled as Aedan stood over Jessica, hand on her neck as he checked her pulse. “You with me buttercup?” he said, the voice soft and low but seemed to carry so much love and tenderness. He needed to get her checked out, he knew he couldn’t avoid that but his ship he could control who knew what, and he wasn’t sure what she would say. Her eyes had been opening when he shot Garvis, did she see his act? It wasn’t self defense, but Aedan didn’t care. He would do it again even if he knew she would find out.

“Hey come up pumpkin you are always telling me you’ll sleep when you’re dead, there you are blue eyes....” said as the he saw her eyes focus fully on him.
