The ensign handed over the padd that he was holding to the CMO, “This is the latest information of the patients that are being transferred from the USS Cytotoxic. We have mostly minor cases, but there are a few coma patients that we will have to deal with, some in more stable condition than others.” He pointed at the bottom of the list, “Apparently this Trill woman had a failed joining and is not reacting to any stimuli. Luckily for us, her condition is rather stable.” He pointed to the entry above, “I was told to inform you that this Klingon patient has rather violent outbursts at random intervals, and to keep a close eye on his condition. It turns out that he received his wounds in the middle of a battle, and has been in a coma since.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Paige listed as the ensign gave his run down of the incoming patients “How many coma patients do we have?” She asked as she looked around and touching her comm badge =^=All medical personnel are recalled to duty immediately.=^= She sated clearly and firmly. Her staff knew to respond to sickbay immediately. She looked at the Ensign “Make sure all of the medical files are transferred to Sickbay as quickly as possible.” She added.

Upon hearing about the sudden transfer of their medical guests, Chandel accessed the expected list and decided to head to sickbay to see if they needed any assistance with them. The patient’s stress levels would be rather high if they were conscious and she might be able to help alleviate some of it. Entering sickbay she looked around the ordered chaos to see where the CMO might be and spotted her speaking with an Ensign. Making her way over she waited quietly while the two continued their discussion.

Counselor Chandel
Upon noticing the counselor, Paige acknowledged her presence “SOunds like we’re going to be busy. I will set up an area for you towards the back of Sickbay to afford some privacy to you and the patients that you will be working with in case they are not able to make it to your office.” She said.

Turning towards the counsellor, the ensign spoke, “Well, the list did mention some patients that were still recovering from shock, and a few others that have various conditions that may make their mental state unstable. I will see if I can compile a list of them.” He looked thoughtful for a second before continuing, “However, if you have any idea why the Klingon keeps on thrashing around, it would be a great help.”

“I am afraid I do not have that information. But, they are Klingons. I would say it is par for the course for them.”Chandel said with a wry smile.”Thx, Ensign. I appreciate that.”

Counselor Chandel

Toveka came into the medical bay and glanced around. She raised her voice just enough for the Doc to hear her as she approached. “I was told to come see if I could be of assistance.” Her last stint in medical had been because of poisoning. But Toveka was extremely good with science and with the influx of folks coming in, the science department had been split up to help in nearly all areas of the ship.

Paige smiled at Toveka “We can always use an extra pair of hands.” She said as they were interrupted.

At this point, a voice came over the comms, =/\=This is lieutenant Jane Salma of the USS Cytotoxic, are you prepared the receive the wounded?=/\=

Mr. Snuggles (GM)
=^= Lt Salma, this is Lt. Cmdr Paige Stone, Chief Medical Officer. We are ready to receive your wounded. Please forward all medical records to our medical bay as soon as you can.=^= She stated and looked at the assembled staff, standing up on a chair “Okay folks. We’ve got multiple casualities coming to us, some stable some not. As they appear, assess, tag and move on. Basic stabilization protocols until we get everyone triaged and then go back and do your secondary assessments.” Paige said “We’re going to be using both main sickbay and secondary sickbay. Critical patients and those requiring extensive treatment will remain in main sickbay, the others will be sent to secondary sickbay with two other doctors. I will be moving between both bays.” Paige added.

Paige looked at her head nurse “Dabor, get the back part of main sickbay set up for those that are in shock and need minimal care but are in need of counseling services. Make sure that you put up the sound proof barrier between each of the beds so that they are afforded as much privacy as possible. Once you’re done with that, head to secondary Sickbay, I want you to keep the younger doctors in line. Take a team of four nurses with you and two medics.” Paige said “Toveka, I want you to help with initial assessments and just in general floating around wherever we need extra hands. Any questions?”

CMO

Keep four nurses and two doctors in line, sure, no problem, thought Vak to himself. He was pretty sure that was not a skill he learned in the Academy. He’d have to find a way to figure it out. The patients were easy to handle. The doctors were another story. “No, understood, Doctor,” he replied as he headed off to work on getting the areas set up.

“I do possess basic medical training as well, Doctor so I could assist with triage as well.” Chandel said so the Chief would be aware of her skills. She watched the activity around her and took a few calming breaths. Mind you she hadn’t had to use her medical skills since she was in school so this would be a first real live emergency test for her.

Counselor Chandel

Paige nodded “Excellent. Then until you have patients that require your psychiatric services, work with Elsa, she’s one of our nurses. Dabor will be in secondary sickbay and I’ll be moving between the two. Keep me posted on anything you find.” She said as she turned to make sure that her orders were being followed by everyone.

CMO

Chandel nodded in understanding and moved to assist the set up where she could.

Counselor Chandel

A few seconds later, the shine of transporters lit up the room as some of the more stable patients were transferred over. As each one was transported in, their medical log was transferred over to the computer. Eventually, the patients with more serious medical conditions were brought over. Soon, the only two missing were the coma patients that were discussed earlier, =/\=This is Jane Salma again, please confirm that you are ready to begin transfer of coma patients to the necessary facilities.=/\=

Mr. Snuggles (GM)
Paige replied to the comms =^=We have received the patients and are attending to their needs.” She said.

Chandel moved over with the rest of the medical team and picking up a medical tricorder began to assist with the triage of the incoming patients.

Counselor Chandel

=^= Dabor to Doctor Stone. The counseling area and the secondary sickbay are set up. We’re ready for the patients. =^=

Ensign Dabor Vak, Nurse

Paige smiled =^=Excellent. I have them coming to you. I’ll be over shortly to see if you need anything else.”

CMO

With a shine, the two patients were placed on top of their designated beds. While the Klingon was erratically twitching, the Trill stayed completely still, not a single sign of life from her body besides the slow rise and fall of her chest.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

While other medical staff were focused on the Klingon patient of greater concern, Vak went over to the Trill patient and scanned her, trying to determine the cause of her non-responsiveness.

Ensign Dabor Vak, Nurse

Chandel moved over to the Klingon and quickly scanned him with the medical tricorder, looking for the reason for the twitching. She was a bit intimidated as she had never treated a Klingon before but presumably the tricorder would have all the relevant Klingon biological data in its library.

The scans would show that there was intense neurological activity located around the area where Trill usually bonded, along with a high amount of scarred tissue. Her brain itself had a low level of activity otherwise, barely keeping her body functioning.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Paige was moving between the two areas offering assistance where she could and updating information as it came to her. “Vak, what are you finding with your exam?” She asked as she came over to Vak and the others.

CMO

As Vak was otherwise busy, the Vulcan nurse next to them spoke, “It seems that intense neurological activity is occurring around the area where Trill usually bond, and I am detecting a rather abnormal amount of scar tissue. The rest of her brain shows little to no activity, barely firing enough neutrons to keep basic function of the body operating.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Paige nodded “Put a neural inhibitor on and set it until we reverse the over activity.” She said “Use some cordrazine to assist in that.” She said “Are we seeing this activity in all of the patients or just the ones that are in a coma?”
