SNIP

Due to the orders given, by the time that the small party of officers and observers had reached the room, many artifacts were already there. Indeed, it would take a decent amount of time to sort it all, including the broken tablet that had been placed in an antigravity field to keep it in its original shape.

Jessica looked around the room at everything lying about. There seemed to be something for everyone in here from pots to statues to bowls to mosaics. As she walked to the table she stopped in front of a tablet that would have been a double to a jigsaw puzzle if it were not for the antigravity field to keep it in its original shape. “Toveka,” Jessica called out. “Can you read this?”

Toveka technically could, but it was a very ancient style of Romulan. Despite the cracks, one could make out the words, “WARNING, SEALED… FATE… TIME MOVES… END.”

Toveka moved around the room giving everyone a station and a ship’s member to work with. She had no problem with helping these folks, but she wanted to be sure it was all done correctly, and logged just as effectively.

As Jessica called out out to her, she went over and glanced at the object. A small frown creased her brow as her lips moved silently trying to make out the words. “It’s a warning… Something about a ‘sealed fate’… perhaps. And a mention of ‘time moves’ and ‘end’. I am not sure the meaning, but something tells me there is more to this. We need to find what other artifacts were with this one and where they were removed from, exactly.” If a seal had been broken, or time moved, because of the explosion of the planet, it was possible there was more to this than merely the archiving of clay pots and cups.

“Well, are you sure it is not already broken,” Jessica eyed the tablet being held together in the force field. “If that was a warranty clause we are not going to be able to return this one,” she said shaking her head. “Does that make any sense to you,” she asked Toveka.

Toveka remained silent at the mention of a warranty clause. Surely it was a joke.

Looking around the room she called over a science crew mulling about. “I need you to find everything that came with this piece and show me,” she ordered the crewman. Everything had come in some sort of crate or box so this had to have had friends.

A box was set down in front of her with a padd on top. The ensign that had carried it over spoke up, “Ma’am, it seems as those these came with the tablet. They seem to be pieces of a wall of sorts that had a bunch of strange images on it.”

Glancing over, the archeologist spoke up, “Oh yes, I remember those, they were found in the middle of the ruins. There was what once was a wall behind what we assume to have been a shrine, and this tablet was placed upon said shrine.” She looked contemplative as she spoke again, “Funnily enough, while the shrine was in ruins, that tablet was in rather nice condition until the… incident.”

Reaching up she tagged her comm badge. =/\=Lt. Rhodes do you mind assisting us in the science labs,=/\= Jessica asked then clicked it off. Yes, the science chief was still probably monitoring the unloading of artifacts but right now she needed his expertise on this artifact. Duncan was wealthy. He probably had seen stuff like this at his best friends house. At this point, Jessica was up for anything to help them figure out the riddle.

Lt Commander Jessica Teller

Toveka picked up the padd from the top of the crate and began scrolling thru the box’s manifest. The place the woman described seemed familiar. But surely she was mistaken. The idea that this had been from one of the main shrines made her skin crawl with forboding. She had never been to any of them, but she had heard enough to know that outsiders would ‘never’ have been permitted. So the question came, as it had several times since the beginning of this particular adventure, ‘how did they actually come by the artifacts?’.

She had been about to recommend Duncan’s knowledge and expertise on this as well, but the Lieutenant Commander had beat her to it. She was glad, too. This was starting to make her want to seriously chase everyone out and put this all together on her own without outsiders pawing all over it.

The woman picked up a carving that had been taken out of the box, “I find the one to be one of the more interesting ones. On it, it displays a large bird like creature of some sorts along with a smaller more humanist figure doing battle. Interestingly enough, the bird creature seems to be shown as magnificent, while the other is made to look below them in a more negative manner.”
