The woman picked up a carving that had been taken out of the box, “I find the one to be one of the more interesting ones. On it, it displays a large bird like creature of some sorts along with a smaller more humanist figure doing battle. Interestingly enough, the bird creature seems to be shown as magnificent, while the other is made to look below them in a more negative manner.”

The manifest made her curious what exactly the shrine had been for. “It’s probably a reference to a sect of the religion and its leader. Many religions consider their members as their ‘flock’. So a larger, more magnificent creature over them wouldn’t be out of line, would it?” She was running thru her mind to think of the reason those icons would be used. Something in the back of her mind said it seemed familiar, but she couldn’t be certain.

“Or it is some guy getting attacked by a pterodactyl,” Jessica raised an eyebrow as if she was seriously contemplating her answer. “The ancient Hindu of Earth revered the cow? Why couldn’t someone worship a flying reptile,” she stated still scrutinizing the carving. “Did you have dinosaurs on Romulus,” Jessica looked at Toveka. Current Romulan geo-political issues she was on top of. Ancient Romulan reptile creatures she was not. Feeling frustrated, Jessica tapped her comm badge again. It was odd the science chief had not shown up but what was weirder was that he wasn’t even acknowledging her call. =/\=Lt. Rhodes do you copy=/\=Jessica asked not caring if Duncan could hear the annoyance in her tone.

Toveka looked at the woman. “We did not have any pterodactyl in our history, Ma’am. But I understand your reference. And I find it highly unlikely.” She continued the unpacking, each item being placed on the counter in the order it was listed on the manifest. She wanted to make sure all the pieces were accounted for.

“I’m sorry,” Jessica said looking at Toveka. “As I said I have zero artistic ability. It makes Aedan and Duncan nuts but sure made them stop the whole what do you see when you look at that,” Jessica said picking up another piece of art. “I mean art is supposed to have no wrong answer but boy I sure do,” she half snickered.

The doors to the lab opened and Duncan made his way in, nodding to everyone as he did so. Notably, he wasn’t wearing his Starfleet badge which was likely why he hadn’t heard the call that the XO had put out to him. He was also carrying a large cup of coffee from Evies and was stifling a yawn as he came in. He had left the cargo bay earlier only moments after arriving and now, it was apparent that he seemed tired. Perhaps he had little sleep the previous night, as his hair also appeared slightly rushed and not in it’s normal, ‘in control’ state.

Coming to the group Duncan sipped his coffee and looked at the tablet, blinking once or twice. “I never heard of ancient Romulans doing battle with Giant Chickens, Brine.” He said curiously, “Although that might explain why the Star Empire called its warships ‘Warbirds’. He looked at the two Starfleet Officers and the archaeologists, “Possible correlation? Something the ancient Romulans feared or worshiped enough to name Starships after them centuries later?”

The woman nodded, “It seemed that the imagery of the bird character has been pronounced at other sites as well. However, it seems as though this figure is much less common, only appearing in large quantities at the site from which these pieces came from.” She paused for a moment to bring up a picture on her padd. “Some pictures also from this site also depict more of this assumed ‘battle’.” Displayed on the padd was a more detailed image of what seemed to be a female shaped figure holding her arms above her head. More interestingly, above her was a familiar shape facing the bird.

OOC Note: After messing with formatting for the kagillionth time, I’m just going to describe what I was trying to do. I was trying to make an ascii Connie class, and that is what they see. Search up ‘star trek ascii’ and go to images to see what I was trying to do.
