Commander Tomarth nodded. “I see that the requirements for being a Captain in the Federation are still as lax as ever. Tell me ‘Captain’, were you aware of the firing of this weapon? Or were you just following orders to ignore it after it occurred?”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Mathias continued to keep his cool in front of the view screen. “Oh yeah, they just let anyone be a captain these days. I’m not complaining. We can discuss our lax requirements in greater detail if you like. But more importantly I can tell you we did not fire on your ship. I’ve been at our command center the last couple hours and I pretty distinctly remember not firing on any ships during that time. Perhaps you’re confusing our Outpost with a more mobile aggressor?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

A frown appeared on the commander’s face. “We have been patrolling this sector of space and have found no evidence of such aggressors. Only a fool would try to enter the neutral zone at a time such as this.” With the last sentence, he gave Mathias as accusatory look before he continued, “I do not suppose that you have a convenient excuse do you? No doubt that you could say it was cloaked ship, or maybe it was a ship with advanced warp capabilities.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Mathias shook his head. “I don’t, Commander, but it sounds like you’ve thought of plenty of explanations already. We’d be happy to lend our resources to investigate the source of the attack if you’d like. Wait a second…what did you mean when you said ‘a time such as this?’“

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

“Don’t play dumb with me Captain, we both know that the Federation recently carried out a mission on Romulus itself. While our governments may not have released official statements, I find it hard to believe that one stationed as close to the neutral zone as you would have not heard that information.” The Commander’s eyes narrowed. “While full out war is not an option at this point, the Romulan Star Empire will not allow further transgressions to go unpunished.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“Oh, I’m a captain, not an admiral. Starfleet Command only keeps me in the loop when they feel like they need to,” said Mathias as he waved his hand to the side dismissively. “I respect and understand your position though. Thank you for communicating it. Is there anything else I can help you with?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Baldur double checked the internal sensors in the Medical bay. Hopefully, he’d find more luck there than here. He also quietly ordered that there be a review of recent external sensor logs. He had not noted any weapons fire but checking was the safer option.

SOO - Baldur

The Romulan commander did not hold back his sneer this time. “So nonchalant in the face of danger. I warn you Captain, as soon as we receive word from Romulus on how to proceed we will do so, no matter how either of us may feel about the situation.”

“In that case there’s little point in continuing this discussion. Let me know if you’d like to reconsider our offer to help investigate the source of your attack. Nice chat.” With that Mathias turned around and motioned with his hand, indicating to end the transmission. After the communication ended he said to himself, “I love talking to Romulans. They’re always so amusing.”

Meanwhile, the woman walked over to Baldur so smoothly it was almost as if she was gliding. “And what do you expect to find?”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

=/\= Operations it appears we had a theft during the black out. That might have been the reason for the power fluctuations. Can you check to see if anything or one used the power fluctuations to beam in or anything out of this room =/\=.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller. XO

=/\= We’ll check into it Commander. McGarrett out. =/\= He then turned to the newest member of the crew. “Commander Bragason, see if you can find any evidence of transporter activity on Deck 13. Or anything that seems unusual.”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Baldur had started to answer the strange woman as the communique came. “Yes sir,” He said as he started another internal scan this time searching for transporter activity “I never expect anything” He explained as he worked apparently not minding the Stranger “I’d hoped to find what the Romulans were referencing to earlier and to assist my fellow crewmembers with various other tasks” He said without looking up “Who is asking?” He deep base made his tone seem more adverserial than he’d intended.

The woman took a step back and leaned against a railing. “Oh, just someone who found something very interesting about what was just said.” Opening a hand that had been curled into a fist, she examined a piece of broken stone that was not there when she closed it. “After all, it isn’t every day that one decides to contact a dead world.” Meanwhile, the scan for transporter activity came up as negative.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Baldur gave the woman a queer look as he read the results of his scan. “Sir, no transporter activiy detected” He informed the Captain.

=^=Stone to Ops. We have additional chronitons located around our Klingon friend in Sickbay. The working theory right now is we have some sort of time travel issue going on. I have the klingon in a level 10 forcefield and will try to dissapate the particles.=^=

Mathias tapped his combadge. =^= Understood Doctor. Keep me posted as you learn more. McGarrett out. =^=

The captain looked closer at the item in the woman’s hand before starting another communication. =^= McGarrett to Commander Teller. That’s a negative on transporter activity. But we do have a piece of broken stone in Ops that I believe may have value. =^=

After the conversation with the first officer was over, Matthias looked at strange visitor. It felt like a poker game. If he only paid close enough attention, somehow he might glean something about her cards that she didn’t seem willing to tell him. He asked, “What do you mean contact a dead world? Is that what we’ve done somehow? What world are you talking about?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Baldur switched between looking at the Strange woman and the Captain. Today was turning out to be rather interesting first day out here in the border zone.

SOO - Baldur

“My my, so many questions.” The woman stopped tossing the stone before giving Mathias a wink. “It’s a good think that I like you.” She shrugged. “As for the answer, I believe that one should just look to the stars, or the lack there of one.” Her eyes glazed over a bit, a memory seemingly coming to mind. “After all, one does not extinguish a star unless there has been or shall be a terrible cost, one that makes the discussion that you just had quite interesting.”
