Akane grabbed a quick bite to eat on her way past the promenade and made her way to Teller’s quarters. She pressed the door chime and then quickly wiped the crumbs she had dropped down her front in her haste.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“Hello,” Jessica said through the comm. “Give me like two minutes,” she said in a perky voice. Kissing Cera she shouldered the diaper bag and headed out of the penthouse. Aedan’s security measures at times bordered on the excessive but after the Garvis incident, she didn’t complain that much. Exiting the penthouse, Jessica made it down the corridor to the turbo lift at the end of the hall. From there she took the turbo down three levels to another corridor. At the end of the cooridor, she palmed the lock opening it to the outpost.

“Lt.,” she said in a happy tone. “I hope you don’t mind but thought it might be better to get her out of the penthouse for a bit. Maybe we can get a bite to eat at Evie’s” Jessica said hopefully.

Nay chuckled and shook her head. “No, of course not, I welcome being out of my office for a bit, it’s nice to stretch my legs,” she replied as they headed towards the promenade. She smiled warmly at the mention of Evie’s, she loved the atmosphere there. “Evie’s would be wonderful, she’s quite an interesting character!” Nay laughed as she recalled their first encounter.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“Tell me about it. Since she realizes she was Aedan’s aunt there has been no stopping her from trying to be a pseudo mom to him,” Jessica confided. “Aedan acts like he can be less than thrilled at times but I know he likes the attention when he wants the attention of you get my drift. If he didn’t he wouldn’t have given her the money to start up the brewery. They act like family though especially as they work out the details to the pub edition of the story. Evie wanted just a sandwich and coffee shop at first. Now she is in love with the idea of a five o’clock somewhere pub. So did she already ask you for a picture for the wall yet,” Jessica asked shifting the baby to one hip as they walked down the corridor.

Nay chuckled and nodded. “Indeed she did, just got to find a good one, I’m not usually very photogenic!” she giggled. As they walked, Nay couldn’t resist the urge to make a few funny faces at Cera. “She’s gorgeous by the way, how old is she?” Nay asked as she cooed over the baby. As much as she had tried to focus on her career over the past few years, she couldn’t deny the desire she had for a family, especially with her mother bringing it up in every conversation.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“Almost a year and a terror on two legs,’‘ Jessica said and then zerberted the baby’s neck. This instantly made the small child turtle and hide her neck.

God “mama” I hate when you do that Cera laughed. She drew back some and gave Jessica long stare. You tell me to behave and now my neck is all wet.*

“She loves when I do that,” Jessica laughed and bounced the baby on her hip. “It was a struggle coming back to work once I had her. Aedan could have cared less but I do like my job. I am not sure I can keep it up if we have more kids but for now, the three musketeers are doing just fine.” The walk to Evie’s bistro wasn’t long and with Evie being and Ex-Starfleet officer and Aedan’s aunt, the Tellers never had to wait for a table. After being led to a table, Jessica set the baby in a high chair and dumped some round brown rings on the table in front of Cera which the baby began to stuff immediately into her mouth.

“So are you liking the Outpost,” she asked settling into the chair and flagging a waitress over.

Nay smiled warmly and nodded. “Very much so, it’s very different to my last posting, there are certainly some interesting characters here,” she grinned as her thoughts drifted to Nikki. Watching Cera she smiled. “She certainly likes her food doesn’t she?” she chuckled.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“So how long have you served in star-fleet Lt Cmdr?” she asked as she peered at the menu.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

“Before we even meet… in fact she was just a lowly chief of security when I came aboard, things as they were.” could be heard from the rough English accent from behind Sakai, of course Jessica would have seen who was behind them as he had approached but Aedan tried to avoid her line of site as she looked at menus to try and get an element of surprise. Moving to the side he came into full view, sharp dressed but groomed in such a way he always seemed to have a slight edge to him. Sharp angular hair short and dirty blonde with the scruffy beard of someone who only tried to manage it when his wife truly complained.

Jessica never saw Aedan approaching but that as not hard when she had to focus on Cera shoveling in cereal rings and attempting to have an intelligent conversation with another adult. A smile filled her face as she looked at her husband. Jessica often complained he was only three days from looking homeless at times but Aedan was able to grow a scruff like few others. It had a wildness to it yet never unkempt. The description of Aedan’s beard could also be a description of the man’s life. Jessica could have introduced him to Sakai but Aedan did need to meet more people than strangers across a board room.

“Hi, I’m Aedan Teller… you must be who I heard Jessica talking about getting to see this morning, Lieutenant Sakai correct?” he said as he offered a hand to her as he stood between the two ladies. “Sorry if I interrupted, I was on my way to grab lunch…” he said as he looked back, there was his assistant and two others that seemed to be just waiting. The men were humanoid but the species’s didn’t seem so obvious at first glance, their gazes diverting as Aedan looked over.

Tapping her foot slightly, Jessica Adams wanted to go pull Teller off his chair like some old schoolmarm for being late to class. There was a slim chance he would now be joining them for lunch. Jessica had a way of making him forget what he was doing which at one time would have been as rare as a 2019 Chevy Corvette. Still, the family life for Aedan was not a bad thing so if Adams was to get stuck spending lunch wheeling and dealing for OMAP, that was just what Aedan was paying her for.

Looking back at the women Aedan smiled, putting on the charm he was always known for as looked around finding a chair that was not being used as he brought it over to them, placing the back of the chair facing the table as he sat backwards on it as he faced the two women. “Oh if you want try the Andorian meat pie, doesn’t look good but tastes like someone blessed it with a magic wand of greatness.”

Looking back at Ms Adams he waived her on, as the trio left Aedan with his wife and the counselor. “Of course I could always grab lunch here, isn’t that right sweetie?” he said with a lighthearted smirk as he turned his chair around the proper way and sat down with the two.
