“Oh my god,” Evie stood up hearing the revelation. “If you can excuse me for just one second. I think I have some cookies in the oven.” Moving to the back of the store she quickly commed Aedan. Not waiting for him to offer a greeting Evie immediately spoke. =/\=Aedan I think you need to come down here immediately,” she said in a hurried tone. =/\=About an hour ago there were some power fluctuations and then out of nowhere a kid popped up. We have spent an hour trying to figure out who her mom is =/\= Evie paused a second =/\=and she just said it was Jessica. Aedan don’t ask me how but the three-year-old at the table I think is Cera.=/\=

Evie McGarrett

Nikki perked up when there was the mention of a power fluctuation. That brought to him various things including a power drain to do something or other - like bring in people out from nowhere. Or was that nowhen. He tapped his badge wondering why he had not seen this happen or more interestingly why it had not been reported to him when it happened. He knew he was new here but that was of little excuse. =^= Brako to Marks =^=
=^= Sabrina here =^= came the reply just when he was about to inquire again.
=^= An hour ago there were some fluctuations in the power. What happened? And from where? =^=
=^= Things like that happen, Chief. She’s not the youngest station in space =^=
Nikki flushed. Wrong answer. And neither was she the youngest dame on board. =^= Consider this a test. Find out what happened and where and why. Old dames like to talk. If the station is that old she should be singing. =^=
There was a pause =^= I’ll see if ‘the old dame’ is feeling chatty =^= The tone was ..condescending ..

Bump .. Gene x2 .. any revelation on the knight lady there GM? :)

The armoured lady had finally finished off the plate of cookies before she spoke, “This is touching and all, trying to extract information from a child, but I do hope that we can get on with the negotiations. I am not quite sure if you are surrendering to me or trying to make me surrender.”

Nikki gave her a sly look, still irked from the comms conversation. “There are different kinds of surrender, lass,” he said. “Who are we supposed te be surrendering to and why?” The sword wielding cookie dame here may not melt to sweet talk but she seemed to really want a surrender from them.
- Nikki, COO

The woman gave him a blank look, “Right now I am in the middle of enemy territory. Unless this is a parallel solar system, our forces are currently in combat. In such a case, it would be prudent to infer that I must attempt to gain a surrender from you.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Well that wasn’t something you heard every day from a dame dressed as a medieval knight. He had some small knowledge of the ‘known alternate universe’ - business is business after all - but this? He eyed her again and had the thought of ‘keeping your enemies close’ but then dismissed it. Mostly. He chewed his cigar while thinking about this. “I’d put my money on some kinda parallel system, lass,” he replied. He waved a finger in the air in a small circle. “So what kinda war is this supposed te be? And what’s with the overdone shavin blade? Ye talk interstellar but ye fight with that?” He leaned back. “Here? We’re not at war with anyone at the moment.”
- Nikki, COO

The woman raised an eyebrow. “I see you are unawares. Either the advanced force has failed in their mission without me, or I have been transported to a different time. Nonetheless, I believe it prudent to inform you that where I come from, we are in fact invading your solar system. This might seem odd to say, but I believe it the honourable thing to do in a place as full of civilians as this.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Nikki kept up a poker face as he would have in a negotiation about kitchen supplies for a yacht. “I imagine ye’d not say when, lass, but undoubtedly ye’d know if this here station were here. This here invasion. What do ye want with this wee system here anyway? I can’t imagine anyone comin too far fer it. And this bucket of bolts is far from a military post right now.” He shrugged. “Sure ye don’t want a drink lass?”
- Nikki

=/\= What do you mean?=/\= Aedan replied, he was uncertain what half of this meant. This outpost have the time seemed to have ghosts and goblins all throughout. OMAP at least you just dealt with backstabbing socliates and media bloggers. =/\=Stay there Evie, I’m on my way. =/\= Aedan followed up as he looked around the room, the long table holding at least a dozen or so people all staring at him.

“Sorry, family issues, Jessica here can handle this can’t you hon?” Aedan said as he looked over at his right hand lady who sat next to him as her eyes got big. This deal had been working for months and now the outpost gets a little weird and he pawned them off on her.

“Oh… yes I am… sure.” Ms Adams said with her eyes wide looking at him. “I can certainly handle the Chalnoth Industrial Meat ltd… just fine…” she said as she looked around more nervous. The Chalnoth were not a nice looking race by many standards, large angry and brooding they could scare most.

“That’s the spirit…” he said as he grabbed his coat as he patted her back waving as he quickly made his exit.”

~Aedan Teller

Evie ran her fingers through her hair and returned to the table albeit a bit nervous. She had no idea how this could be happening but right now it seemed the tiny bundle that was Cera Teller had grown into a pint-sized pip full of feisty and spunk. She also had no idea how Aedan would adjust to a three-year-old conversationalist instead of a one-year-old that only last week spoke her first word. “More coffee,” she asked the table bringing the pot over.

Evie McGarrett

OOC: Lol, sorry, just remembered I’m in this thread too!

IC: Akane raised an eyebrow at the knight, somewhat baffled by the strange turn of events. “Thank you Evie,” she replied as she replenished her coffee cup. She couldn’t quite understand why an invading force would be dressed in such ancient armour either but it was clear that things were suddenly taking a more serious tone. Leaning into Nikki she lowered her voice. “I think it might be wise for the Captain to join us?” she suggested quietly. If this ‘invader’ suddenly turned hostile there were a lot of civilians on the Promenade. Moving out of earshot from the others as subtly as she could, Nay tapped her comm badge.

Nikki shrugged. “The more the merrier, lass,” he said, though he wasn’t sure this was going to be a return to the ‘do you surrender the station’ discussion given that the Captain would likely soon be there.
- Nikki

=/\= Lt Sakai to Captain McGarrett, we have a bit of a situation down on the Promenade, there is a young woman here claiming to be part of an invasion force…could you join us at Evie’s? =/\= she asked hopefully.

Lt Sakai (CNS)

=/\= I’ll be there shortly Counselor. McGarrett out. =/\=

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

OOC: Bump

The woman slightly frowned. “It was not my intention to be here at this time in this place. I found myself here holding some strange fragment right before the invasion was about to begin. I wonder if I have been reported missing yet…”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

There had been some mention of things about the station and Nikki was not a stupid man. “How did ye happen te be holdin it lass? Do ye still have it?” He pondered whether to bring out that they had similar instances here. He was always one to bargain and knew when to play his cards. In this case, these seemed to be a key to whatever chaos was happening. He glanced at the young girl. Did she too have one, or touched one? He glanced at Nay to see whether she had overheard this or not, then nodded his head in the direction of the young lass to ask.

Turning back to the steel knight he relaxed. It wasn’t like she was going to be gutting him for the moment. “Here too,” he said, “but the boss when he gets here may have more te say about them. And about gettin ye home.” She looked human enough. “Would be a place I’d like te visit if all the lasses were like ye. Where is it?”
- Nikki

OOC: Bump

It was at this moment that Mathias arrived to the restaurant. He took in conversation that was happening to start with. On any other day the presence of the knight would have seemed completely bizarre. But today it seemed to fit perfectly inline with the surprise visit they just had from the woman in the ancient costume in Ops. He hoped that this woman would be easier to get information out of, but he wasn’t really expecting that to be the case.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

bump

Nikki didn’t have much more to say, as he was waiting for the lass to talk. Yes he was making inquiries but she could either answer him or blow him off. When the boss came, he turned his attention to him. “Lass, this is the boss. Capt’n McGarrett. Ring any bells for ya?” he asked. Surely she would know who was in command of the station she was invading. “Boss, the lass here looks te be from another time. She was holdin a piece of somethin then was here. She was supposed te be part of a group invadin the station.”
- Nikki

The woman shook her head, “Unfortunately I do not. We were in the middle of invading a separate quadrant when I was taken from my position.” She shrugged, “As for the item that I have found myself with, I can be persuaded to relinquish it given sufficient motivation.”

Mathias looked at the knight sympathetically. “You must be having a rough day. I know I always hate it when I’m in the middle of invading and I get teleported elsewhere. So what would motivate you to hand over the object?”

It was at this moment that the little girl cried out, “UNCLE MATT!” and slammed full force into Mathias to give him a hug.

Mr Snuggles (GM)

Being used to the unexpected was part of life in Starfleet. Visitors from the middle ages appearing out of nowhere didn’t happen every day, but it wasn’t outside of the realm of weirdness Mathias had learned to embrace. But the thought of his brother or one of his sisters reproducing without him knowing about it was hard to fathom. He knew he had been distant from family, but this would have happened before any of their brief tours of duty on the Outpost. He patted the girl that was clutching his leg on the head. He then looked towards Evie. “Mother, I feel like you must have something to tell me.”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Nikki didn’t have much to say. Usually he had a great deal to say - PR and position typically meant he did considerable ‘schmoozing’ as his family called it. Nikki found that one didn’t learn anything when one was talking so balanced his chat with his ears. One was usually not disappointed. This looked to be a time when keeping one’s mouth shut was valuable. An object brought the lass here. Glancing at the little one he suspected the same. Rubbing at his chin as he observed he pondered the dame. Sword that he would think was monofilament blade tech that would cut through a great deal of things. Her armor, while medieval looking had the sheen and shape of something that while it could turn a similar blade would also reflect energy weapons. It didn’t appear to be heavy either as the lass hardly labored in it - fancy body armor. Invading a nearby sector but this station was part of the objective too. Both her and the young lass were evidently ‘future’ people. Now that would be a temporal headache if he had had a tryst with the knight lady and a child came from that in the future.
- Nikki

“How should I know,” she looked at Mathias. “I mean it is not like Ciara or Julian ever come home or call. How hard is it to call on a Saturday now is it?” Evie let her son mull it over like a good son should and think about how he could do better with sharing his personal life with his mother. After a few moments, she decided to come clean. “This is not your sister or brother’s child but your cousin....Aedan’s daughter and apparently you two have grown close with how excited she was to see Uncle Matt, ” Evie let the word sink in. Right now Mathias was probably wishing he could go back to the life sharing details with mom topic.

Mathias decided to overlook his mom’s rather unnecessary guilt trip she was trying to take him on. To him it was hardly a profound mystery why Ciara or Julian might not want to communicate with her on a weekly basis. Instead Mathias put his attention on the identity of this little one. He was quite relieved that this little girl didn’t belong to Ciara, Julian, or Lucy. While they were all old enough to begin to settle down, none of them struck him as mature enough to handle doing so. At least not Julian or Lucille. Mathias bent his tall frame down to get closer to the young girl. “Cera,” he simply said at first. Then after a moment he said to her, “Have you been attempting any invasions lately or is the knight the only one doing that?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

“Nope Uncle Matt, I’ve been a good girl!” The girl smiled and nodded. “I’ve been making sure not to tell anyone about those comments you make about people when you think I’m not listening, and when I lost Mommy I came right here to Grandma!”

Mathias couldn’t help but laugh. That sounded exactly right. “Great, that’s exactly what good girls do. Now Cera, can you tell me if you know what traveling through time means?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

“Okay so I just got this weird call from Aedan,” Jessica hooked a thumb at the door as she entered Evie’s coffee shop. As her eyes fell on the small child, Jessica stopped talking. The kid looked so familiar and at least now seemed to understand what Aedan was talking about if not the why.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

Nikki stifled a chuckle. This wasn’t getting them anywhere closer to answers, and the iron dame there as not so chatty since the boss showed up. All they knew was that there was some fragment of something that appeared to be the catalyst behind what was going on. The dame had one. Where was it? He looked her over. Was she hiding it on her person? Apart from that sword she might be one he’d like to frisk for goods. The Iotian pondered this while he chewed around his unlit cigar.
- Nikki

“It means if she is not Cera, Aedan had better get in that high powered space ship of his and run like his life depended on it....because it will,” Jessica said in a low tone half under her breath. The child did have a strong family resemblance to their child but the age difference was vast. Just vast enough that all the stories of Aedan’s pre-marital playboy days could have been true. If the day hadn’t been this weird, Jessica would have been at Aedan’s office. Instead, she would check on her daughter at home and then try to figure this out. Tapping her comm badge she put a message through to the nanny, Sharry Bobbins. =/\=Sharry how is the munchkin,=/\= Jessica asked. Whiile she waited for the reply Jessica walked up Mathais who was in front of the little girl.

“Uncle Matt,” Jessica let out a small laugh. “As the years go on you and Aedan must get closer and closer,” she teased in a low voice.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

Mathias gave Jessica a disapproving glare as if she had just objected to him beaming down on a dangerous away mission. “No, actually, there’s no reason why we must. Eating another meal at the mess hall sounds more appealing. Well, okay that’s a bit unfair because that food is truly awful. But almost more appealing anyhow.”

“We’ve gotten distracted.” Mathias turned to the knight woman. “I believe you were about to give us that fragment, weren’t you?”

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

“Technically the lass said she could be convinced to hand it over,” Nikki said softly, though she had not been forthcoming as yet on just what it would take.
- Nikki

Mathias gave Nikki a wide-eyed disaproving stare. “I’m aware of that,” said the captain, in an even quieter voice than Nikki had used. Mathias longed for a bit more stable of a senior staff. The new additions needed more time before they could tell what he was thinking when he said something. Though if this wave also left the gradually crumbling Outpost for posts on starships he’d have a hard time blaming them.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Inwardly Nikki shrugged. He had not caught any ‘nuance’ leading up to this. Usually he was better at reading people, but then usually they were talking directly to him, or, in the case of a group, where one party was more chatty. He chalked it up to a miss. Wasn’t like he just put a hit on the wrong gang, and, he was used to wheeling and dealing and this was a negotiation, not some kind of mental mind trick that one saw in the holos. The interesting thing would be if the boss actually tried to get him moved on. Someone up there wanted him here and out of the way and stationary. But that was neither here nor there. Shut up and listen, Nikki.
- Nikki

“So Joan,” Jessica threw out the classic name of the only female knight she knew in history. The woman might not be Joan of Arc but based on all the other crazy things she had seen anything was possible. I mean Aedan and Mathais close enough that Cera was happily blurting out Uncle Matty? Heck if that was true then the future was truly pliable. “What’s it gonna take to get you share with the rest of the class? I can promise you fifty percent of us aren’t British here,” Jessica said walking over to the little girl and standing next to her.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

Nikki admitted that he had to do some serious thinking about what the boss was sayin. And he rather fell short especially around the British quip. His general ‘Earth’ history was decent but hardly comprehensive. He knew that the best way to control the future was to change the past, or how people thought of the past. And that was easy. Most didn’t pay attention to the past, or have reason to remember much of it, especially the why of how things happened. But that was for another time. Nikki’s other motto relating to the future and what it might hold? Make the future. Don’t let it just happen. He glanced to the dame awaiting her reply. This chunk of whatever was evidently behind this in some way. Why was it some big secret?
- Nikki

=^=Captain, are you still with the woman? If she is I would like to talk with her as well if possible.=^=

“I wonder if she’s having a weirder time there than we are here,” mused Mathias. =^= Doctor, the Victorian woman vanished. I think she was your missing Trill patient, but why that would make sense I couldn’t tell you. Now I’m at my mother’s coffee shop and there’s a knight lady in full armor who has one of the fragments. We seem to have interrupted her invasion. Also there’s a future version of Cera Teller. There may be some kind of a time thing going on. What is your status? =^=

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

Between the call and reply Nikki thought to put in his two slips further. From what the boss said this might be a valid bit of intelligence. “Boss, the station that I know has not been so invaded. Before you came the iron dame here hinted this was a future invasion. How soon we never got to. Or who the dame is fighting for.”
Nikki

Only a moment after the Captain’s question the Bassy voice of the new Icelander started =^=Uhm Captain, the device Doctor Stone removed from her patient just turned to stone. It changed into several other materials before stopping at stone.” His tone slightly perplexed “I’m starting detailed analysis now.=^=

SOO - Baldur

Mathias nodded at Nikki before replying to the comm. =^= Understood. Hopefully we’ll be able to take a look at the one here as well. When you learn more let me know. McGarrett out. =^=

The woman shrugged. “I may be convinced to hand over this item if you provide me with more of this… dessert.” Although her face was mostly passive, there were a few sparkles in her eyes that could be seen at the mention of desserts.

Mr Snuggles (GM)

“Oh honey you came to the right place. If you are looking for a full belly then look no further. How about I bring out the dessert cart. It’s all my son’s favorites. I mean why does a mom make cookies? To show their kids how amazing they are. If you like my cookies you will die over the pies. Mathais here is a great cook,” Evie gestured to her son. Yes they were in the middle of a semi crisis but no one was shooting and the base wasn’t on red alert with klaxons banging out an ear piercing beat. This woman might be single so no reason not to point out just how single and perfect her son was. “He did a science fair project in kindergarten. He was always advanced for his age and when he came home wanting to participate but it wasn’t open to children that young I made it happen. Even at five he developed a hypotheses and experiment. It was calculating the exact number of blueberries a pie needed. It became the recipe I use and he one first place for the kindergarten entries. Let me get you a slice,” Evie turned and walked to the kitchen. No one needed to know he was the only kindergartener that competed. The fact was it was just another instance her son took an initiative and succeed. That was point everyone needed to take away.

“Cap is your mom be coming senile or did that really happen,” Jessica looked at her boss wondering about his moms speech.

“Can’t the answer be both?” quipped Mathias. “The field of competition at the five-year-old level at the science fair was daunting.” He just shook his head. No doubt she saw the knight as a potential match for him. She was female and breathing, which was all it seemed to take.

‘So the dame has a sweet tooth,’ Nikki thought to himself. Maybe they could get that iron shell around her to melt a bit too. He had expected a harder run at it what with the dame being a part of an invasion force, but hey, even after three marriages the Iotian was still learning a thing or two about dames. He eyed her with a humored, but critical eye, trying to suss out just what kind of dessert she might favor. If he had to guess, chocolate would rank highly in her options.
- Nikki

Five minutes later Evie pushed a hover cart laden with every dessert imaginable. Pies, cookies, cakes, scones, crepes, puddings, and gelatin desserts covered the surface along with a tub of ice cream and canister of whipped cream. Leaning between Jessica and Mathias, Evie whispered, “I added a few crepes just in case that French connection with Joan of Ark panned out,” she patted the two officers on the back

Evie McGarret.

“Thank you, Mother. There’s no way we could have completed this mission without you.” While she may have had her fair share of less than desirable qualities, she certainly knew how to bake. Mathias waited to see how the dessert craving knight would react to the impressive spread.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

‘Well that’s something you don’t hear every day’ Nikki thought when he heard the call from sickbay about ‘removing’ the object. At least in this case said object was not inserted .. er, Nikki, don’t go there. This was already a tough enough conversation. His mind flip flopped into a moment of humor when he caught wind of the boss’s mother tryin te set him up with the iron dame. Was the boss that hard up with the ladies? He turned a speculative eye on him and wondered if he shouldn’t slip a dame into his quarters one night. A kind of Iotian housewarming gift as it were. The desserts smelled good, though were off his list while he was back in some training. Desserts yes. Beer no. One could only be so disciplined after all.
- Nikki

“Can I have the ‘nilla one,” Cera asked snapping Jessica’s attention back to her daughter. It was then he saw her husband walk into the cafe. “No,” Jessica said not really paying attention as she moved to intercept Teller at the door.

“Half,” Evie said breaking the mini cake in half and handing it to Cera as she made a shhhhhh sound as if to indicate that this was supposed to be a secret.

“I love you and Uncle Matty,” Cera beamed at the McGarrets.

“So before you freak or think I need to go ten rounds with that counselor Nathan Harlan we got a problem,” she moved to show Aedan the table. “So to recap what I know. There was an intruder alert on the outpost. We were cataloging some artifacts in the hold from a civilian transport when the lights flickered and bam. We find a trill from what I think is the future, a British woman and not like from downtown now England but totally victorian, and Joan of Arc there in the tin can. No one knows what’s going on by I was called down here because Evie said Cera showed up. Three year old Cera,” she looked at the table as her supposed daughter was munching away on some vanilla cake. I called the quarters but there is no sign of Cera. The kids seems to know all about us. Did you notice anything odd at OMAP,” she asked him.
