After all, any direction is better than no direction at all.” She could not offer much assistance beyond what she knew of science with their information on the species, but she had no doubt she could help with the technological and perhaps mathematical (engineering) aspects of it. She thought about the fact that the ship had seemingly been the source of the communications. Going off of that, she tried coming up with some ideas for locating the planet. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Mathias nodded to Epello. “Agreed. Perhaps the place for you to start is figuring out a way to counter how they are hiding everything from us. They can’t be scanned and they mask their warp signature. We need to figure out who we’re dealing with, which will be very difficult without getting past their xenophobic technology.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “We walk a fine line with this, sir.” Epello remarked, pausing for a second. She directed her question to the other man, “How exactly did they mask their signature? Did they obscure it by using the force of an object with a greater gravitational force? Did they use the scattering method by using an anomaly of some type to cover up their signature, by replacing it with something stronger? Or.. do you not know?” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : OOC: Need a GM response here. OOC: Splitting this thread to get some movement on this part. GM, please respond here as well as at the end. ~Adam

“We had trouble determining that. It is possible that they are using a combination of the two to put us of off of whatever trail that they would normally leave.” Logan replied.

“You might be right.” Epello nodded her head, agreeing with Logan on that front. “I suppose we shall know, soon enough.”

: : : : : : : : : : : After asking, she glanced back at the Captain. “If we knew how they masked their warp signature, there might be some way of determining where that covering may have come from, which could offer a general idea of direction.” Another brief pause, “We could also try looking into the possible mechanisms that could be used to prevent our scans; organic and artificial. That could give some insight of a way to either break through the field or recalibrate scanners to go past it.” She found that such almost sounded like espionage, but she brushed that away.

: : : : : : : “By all means, find out what you can, Lieutenant. Work with Commander Linwood’s team and see if we can get anywhere,” Mathias ordered.

: : : : : : “Aye, sir.” Epello have a stiff nod of her head, turning away slightly. “Commander, is there a place where your team and I can get started on this?”

“We could use make of my office. Maybe the two of us can come up with a way to unmask them.”

GM Salmon

“Lead the way, if you may, Commander.” Epello motioned a colorless hand towards the opposing officer, awaiting his leadership, as he knew this base better than her.

Logan led the way for Epello to follow him towards his office which was across the lab area. Once there, Logan spoke out to Epello.

“There’s a couch behind you if you wanna sit. Now, we know that because of whatever effect they’re using to hide their warp trails, we have no way of tracking them. What would be potential strategies you think we could get past this?”

GM Salmon

“Well, perhaps we should start from the outside looking in. We won’t really know what strategies to use, without knowing which ones were executed to allow them to mask their warp trail.” She paused for a second, blind eyes seemingly staring into space. “I doubt they were using a nebula, so they probably found a way to remodulate the plasma injeftors, or a way to produce an erratic EM field to mask the particles produced by warp.”

Another pause.

“When a ship goes to warp, it doesn’t just leave behind a trail; It can also be detected by subspace distortions. So, perhaps that would the best thing to begin with.”

Lt. Epello
COO

“I believe to find what we’re looking for, we should be eliminating any distortions that already known by the warp drives of Federation ships, correct?”

GM Salmon

“Yes,” Epello agreed. “Do you have a visual of the original scans that you guys took? Or any information from recent ones, that might be useable for exing these out?”

Lt. Epello
COO

“Well, the only ships that we’ve recorded within the last week are the Ganymede, as it’s been delivering supplies here, the Lancer which obviously will be the most recent ship around, and then the alien ship which is what we’re trying to detect. Do you want to do the honors so we can isolate the distortions?”

The Aenar woman took a second to figure out where exactly they were. Without proper vision, it would take her a moment to accurately determine where they were and what was around them. “Could you direct me the a nearby panel,” She motioned to her eyes, as if saying she had yet to be able to utilize her telepathy to determine exactly where things were. Of course, she knew where it was, but it was faint and hazy, so she needed something specific, certain. Obviously, this was just one of those rare moments when she had the liberty to ask. Otherwise, she would have gone on a hunch.
