The woman glanced at herself in a mirror that had suddenly appeared in her hand, then back to Paige, “I do believe that I am something new entirely. I was once partly here in this very room, and partly somewhere else. The next thing I both know, I’m myself. Curious, isn’t it?”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“I both know? That sounds like something a joined Trill would say. And we had one here as a patient earlier,” observed Vak. He was a little disappointed he hadn’t recalled the name Q, but he tried not to dwell on mistakes that weren’t important.

Paige nodded “So are you something to do with the Trill that was here earlier that suddenly vanished?” Paige asked “And perhaps you can explain this?” She said as she showed the woman the video of the surgery she had done on the Klingon earlier “What is that object in his brain and why did it suddenly turn to a lump of coal after it’s removal?” She asked.

“My dear, I would say that I had something to doit that Trill earlier. In fact, you could say that her and me are two peas in one pod.” The woman flinched a bit at the video. “As for that.... thing, I would call it something that is much better the way it is right now. Let us just say that it managed to keep me… preoccupied for a long time when it was in one piece.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“What is it and what does it do?” Paige continued “I have a Klingon that is basically in a coma because of this thing. And how are you and the Trill two peas in a pod?” She asked “What do you have to do with what is going on on the ship?” Paige demanded.

CMO

“I could give you the easy answer, but the tone of your voice has made me decide to maybe not reveal all.” The woman hopped off the bed and approached the Klingon. “The item that this entire station has been looking for was a prison, and one that its original occupant was not looking forward to going back to. However, a change in lodging leading to an unexpected combining had made it quite difficult for the same process to occur again.” A small smile graced her lips. “Now here is the interesting thing. This prisoner was rather deserving of her sentence, but now has become something quite different. There is still part of what she was, but now she is also something more. If only those who passed the sentence could see what had occurred now.” She waved her fan over the Klingon’s head, slightly obscuring it from view. When it was visible again, it lacked all sign of what had occurred, leaving him as he was before the object was inside of him.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Paige was getting annoyed “So that thing…” she said referring to the now chunk of coal “was a prison. How does that even work?” She asked keeping her tone in check to try and elicit as much information as she possibly could.

The woman turned back. “By taking a being with no pure physical form, and trapping it in a temporal prison. When fully assembled, it would be most difficult for any being that could be put inside to escape.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“Doctor,” began Vak, as the wheels in his head seemed to be turning. “I think it’s her,” He then turned back to the woman. “You don’t want it to turn back into a prison. You said it was much better as it is now. You indicated the prisoner was a woman. You’re the prisoner, aren’t you? What was it that you did to end up in the prison?”

Ensign Dabor Vak, Nurse

Paige looked at Vak and saw where he was going with this and let him talk. She simply wanted to throttle the woman for causing chaos in her sickbay.

A smile spread across her face. “Oh, you are a smart one. What I did happened a long time before you were even born.” The scene shifted around them to a desert planet, with a temple beside them. “Once upon a time, I was a being of pure chaotic energy. Unlike those of the Q Continuum, I had no physical form, nor the ability to take it.” In the sky above, two energy constructs battled, one shaped like a bird, and the other a constantly shifting ball with tendrils coming off of it. “Of course I am not the only one of my kind, as there is also a being who was born as my opposite, and thus much more stable. ”

The bird let out a cry and slammed its beak into the ball, causing it to crash into the ground. “Since my birth, I traveled the stars, spreading chaos, as it was the only thing I knew. My childlike actions were mostly contained to one world at a time, until I moved on when I got bored. Honestly, I was rather basic back then. My brother being more attuned to order and stability, decided that I needed to be dealt with. Of course, as I was merely a force of chaos, I lacked the ability to do anything other than fight for survival when my Brother decided to kill me.” They were distracted by the sudden appearance of a Federation ship suddenly warping into the sky, its phasers charged and firing at the bird. “I pulled whatever I could to defend myself from across time and space, but my Brother had picked our battlefield well. I was already unstable enough, but the world that we did battle on contained a mineral that disrupted my powers, keeping me on the, as you say, back foot.”

On a nearby temple, blurred figures could be seen doing a ritual of some sort, with fragments of a tablet in the middle of them. “Of course, I wasn’t so weak that he could actually kill me, so he did the next best thing.” As soon as the Federation ship faded away, the bird grabbed the ball in one of its claws and crushed it, leaving a small black orb. The bird shrank to a smaller size and placed the orb in the middle of the pieces. As soon as it had flown away, the pieces began to float together, and soon assembled in the form of the tablet that had been broken just earlier. “And that was the end of my story.... that is until the tablet was shattered.”

The scene again shifted to the cargo bay, where it could now be seen that a dark wisp had escaped from the cracks in the tablet. “Of course I was barely alive when I escaped, so I tried to find something to lodge on to, which after discovering this room was me. I was a Trill who for all intents and purposes was dead. I was rejected during a bond, and thus was a broken shell of myself. In the end, my two broken halves became one whole, and we are left with me.”

Mr Snuggles (GM)

Paige looked at the woman “So let me get this straight, your brother imprisoned you because of your chaotic nature…But how did you get here?” She asked and looked at Vak “Did I miss something about a tablet being brought aboard?” She asked not quite thoroughly confused but cautious about this tale that was being told. She turned back to the being “So…you need to have a host, so to speak to survive right now? Is that what I am understanding?” Paige watched carefully and wondered where the security detail was that she had called several minutes ago “What are you hoping that this outpost can help you accomplish. Our mission is to explore…this that you are doing seems more akin to revenge.” Paige said calmly understanding a bit more why the woman was doing what she was doing “How long have you been trapped in that tablet.”

Vak gave her a shrug when she asked him about the tablet. It must have broke in the Cargo Bay, but he had been focused on patients the whole time.

She felt that she needed to tell the science department about this tablet but she was intrigued by the woman before her.
CMO

“I would compare it more to more of a fusion than a hosting. When I merged, my beings became one, I am neither the chaotic entity, nor the trill that was for the most part dead.” She shrugged. “As for this outpost, I have no qualms with it. My powers may have been causing an incident here or there, but those are more akin to growing pains, and should subside in time.” Her eyes lit up with interest. “However, the one thing that I am not responsible for are these strange intruders bent on attacking here. In fact, I have taken steps to slowing down their progress.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“Wait, what steps? What have you done?” asked the Bajoran nurse, a bit uneasy about what intervention this woman might have done.
