SNIP

As the beam aimed at the force field, Toveka cried out a warning and lunged towards the door of her office. “BALDUR!” she cried out in warning and concern. As the smoke filled the room and the forcefield went down, she reached towards him and tried to grab the back of his shirt. “Back up… my office has two more shields!” She was trying to get him to fall back. Her own weapon hanging at her side as she momentarily forgot it and wasn’t aiming into the smoke.

The attack caught him by surprise, he hadn’t expected heavy weaponry in a boarding party “Drop and raise!” He called as he ran closer to the central office, his back hunched as he used the cover of low visibility to avoid immediate detection.

SOO - Baldur

When he got his bearings and shoved her back towards the office with the hollered instructions, she did as she was told. Dropping low to hopefully use the counters to keep them semi covered and hidden, she bolted for her office, “COMPUTER, DROP DUAL OFFICE SHIELDS ON MY COMMAND!” She hollered and waited till Baldur was thru the doorway before hollering, “COMPUTER… NOW!” She just hoped whoever was behind them, wasn’t on their heels.

If all went well there were the dual shields around the office and one more barrier between them and the boarding party. Stopping behind her desk and sitting with her back to it and the door, she tried to catch her breath. She wasn’t cut out for this and her panic level was rising, slowly drowning out the sensible part of her brain she had been able to call on till now. “Baldur… you all right?” She at least had the foresight to make sure he wasn’t hurt. He was all she had left right now. And she didn’t dare call Tenkiller back because of the mission he was on could end this madness.

(scared out of her mind)

As soon as Baldur had jumped in, the entire room shifted around them. The equipment because much more sleek, and the shield glowed with an intensity much higher than before. In fact, when one of the intruders tried to take a shot at it, the beam reflected right back into their chest.

Baldur looked back at the sudden change but quickly turned his attention to the Science chief and smiled “I’m perfect, these dolts couldn’t hit the broadside of a Klingon moon” His levity an obvious way to distract the clearly frightened woman from the enemies facing them. He turned around and pointed his rifle at the enemies “You have any idea why that just happened” He asked.

SOO - Baldur

Toveka saw the room shimmer and soften but hadn’t seen the reaction to the enemy’s weapon in the shield behind her. “No…” she said. Unthinking, her science mind once more overriding her common sense, she set her weapon down and moved to her knees. Tilting her head slightly and squinting her eyes, she tried to reconcile the change in the vision of the room. “It’s almost like we are in the forcefield. But it can’t be. It’s not this wide or deep. How can it fill the room?” She still had her back to the door and was looking at her table behind her desk and the wall behind it. Now in a half crouch, she wasn’t fully blocked by the desk.

After a moment, she glanced at Baldur to see if he was affected by the vision of softened edges. Picking up the tricorder on her desk, she scanned first him, then the desk then the force field, itself. Fascination, not fear, was not in her eyes as everything else, her safety as well, apparently, was momentarily pushed aside. “It doesn’t make sense,” she said kneeling beside him.

bump?

Baldur gave the woman a smile “Where would be the fun in having things make sense” He said momentarily taking his eyes of the intruders to look at the sleeker surfaces on the equipment “Could it be some sort of temporal anomaly, advancing our tech into a near future with greater power?”

SOO - Baldur

Toveka frowned. “No one who dealt with temporal anomalies ever got out unscathed. I don’t like it.” Tapping her badge, she frowned. =^=Science to bridge… anything happening up there? We’re experiencing… something… down here. Everything’s gone soft around the edges like …=^= she glanced at Baldur and frowned deeper, =^=like we’re experiencing a temporal anomaly of some kind.=^= Her voice was unsure, something not a regular thing with the CSO.

Baldur shrugged, personally he disliked time travel and all related things but right now he didn’t want to show any such dislikes to add to her worries. He looked at the gathering troops and wondered how the Security chief was doing and if the mission had been successful.

SOO - Baldur

It was then that there was a flash of light. When the two could see again, standing near them was a sharply dressed man with a moustache. He blinked a few times at what seemed to be a new environment for him. Noting the two, he spoke. “Excuse me, but I appear to have been… brought here?”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Toveka scooted back fast enough to thunk her back on the desk behind her they had been covered behind. “HEY!” She hollered just as Baldur swung around.

As soon as he regained his vision, Baldur turned around to the new arrival and swung his rifle around. He held it in a lowered position, ready to fire if necessary but not raising it in a threat. His eyes narrowed as he studied the man carefully “So it appears” He started politely before shifting his posture “Identify yourself” He said in an authoritative tone an stance.

SOO - Baldur

Toveka’s teeth clenched as she bit back a much less formal greeting. The Science Chief scooted sideways and stood up, back to the wall, in case anyone else showed up. Her own phaser was pointed at the man, and though her heart was racing on the inside, she was managing to remain calm on the outside. Last thing she wanted was the Baldur, or the Security Chief, chiding her for freezing and not backing Baldur. Tapping her comm badge, she spoke up before the man could reply, =^= Science to Security, intruder alert.=^= Friendly or not, he was definitely an intruder. And being one who usually thought of all possibilities she could, the idea of this guy wandering the ship before anyone knew he was here did not sit well with her. She let Baldur take the interrogation part. He seemed prepared for it, anyway.

The man took a few steps back. “Oh my. My apologies for intruding, but my name is Nikola Tesla, and I have no idea what I am doing here.”

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Baldur didn’t look away from the new stranger but talked to Toveka “Scan him, focus on finding temporal, holographic, or any mechanical signatures.” He smiled slightly “And I think those boys out there are a bigger threat than Mr. Tesla here” He then addressed the apparent historical figure standing in front of him “Would be kind enough to inform me of a few things” He said with a polite smile but didn’t turn his weapon away “Firstly, where you were before arriving here, what you were doing and what year it is?” The only real reason he was familiar with this 20th-century figure was a holonovel adventure he partook him a few years back where Nikola Tesla was a side character but his appearance had been based on some sort of musical icon from the same century albeit later on, some Starman he was unfamiliar with.

SOO - Baldur

Telsa glanced around. “Well, while where I was it was 1901, although considering the state of this place, I’m not quite sure this is still the case.” There was a shrug. “As for what I was doing, I was just reading over my notes from my magnifying transmitter tests. From what I have observed, I belive that the entire globe of the planet can be used to conduct electrical energy.” He let out a chuckle. “Although those tests were not without their danger, as there was a few times that I thought that the lightning would go into me instead of the intended target.”

Toveka’s scans would show that Tesla was saturated with temporal energy, and had no traces of any holographic or mechanical signatures.
