While the Lt. was working at his station, he didn’t notice anything different about the station. He knew that the station is in very good hands with him and his small team. He knows that if he does the job right things will work properly. He then started to go to his console and start to press the buttons on his console. He doesn’t know what will ever come around and so if he gets a call for something to get repaired he’s be ready for it. His team is small but he and his team is willing to do it. Even though there are two of them it maybe stressful, but they can do it. The captain has full confidence in them both and Warren has full confidence in his second in command of engineering.

Lt. Warren

A series of beeps rang out on the console as a call for engineering help came in. The button flashed until COO answered it.

Chloe Harland

He noticed on the console of a blinking red light and he wasn’t sure it could’ve been. He then answered the call from Chloe. He had met her in sickbay during his check-in and wondered what could be wrong. “Yes Chloe. What can I do for you today?” He said as he answered the call.

Lt. Warren

“If your not busy I have a situation. Think you can come to my quarters,” she asked

Chloe Harland

“Yeah of course Chloe. I am actually not busy at the moment I can come to your quarters I’m a bout a minute or two.” He responded to Chloe.

Lt. Warren

“Perfect,” she said. “I will see you in a few minutes.”

Chloe Harland

“Alright. Warren out.” As he closed the channel and he grabbed a few things. He grabbed his repair kit just to be on the safe side cause he knows that it is needed for something like this.

Lt. Warren.

Chloe sat in her quarters sipping her coffee and keeping an eye on the sparking panel. She knew the second Warren came to the door, she would have to come up with a good reason as to why it was sparking. Hopefully he would be at her door soon.

Chloe Harland

Warren then got to the door of Chloe’s and buzzed the door. He then stood there hopefully was able to be let in. He then waited. As he waited he knew that getting something on the station fixed. He is the chief engineer and operations so it was his duty to fix things up.

Bernie Warren

“Warren,” Chloe opened the door and immediately motioned him in as she tried to hold back a barking dog with the other. “Come in. Come in,” she said in an upbeat tone before giving the dog a scowl. “Sit bubba,” she pulled back the overly excited puppy with two hands so Logan could enter. The puppy was about two feet tall which was half as tall as Chloe and weighed about fifty pounds which was a little more than half of Chloe’s body weight. It was clear to see the dog was just excited to have someone come by and only wanted Bernie to pet him and tell him he was a good boy.

Chloe

He then pets the puppy and says “good boy now be easy” as he pet him. While Warren asked Chloe “So uh Chloe. What can I do for you today?” As he started to blush a little not knowing very well. “What needs to get replaced here?” He asked.

Lt. Warren

The puppy liked Warren. He kept trying to jump up and lick him.

“The replicator,” Chloe nodded to the unit in the corner. “I think someone stuck a credit in the power supply short circuiting it,” she glanced at her two kids on the couch. The kids looked at her and then back to the holovision pretending they did not hear her. “Nathan was going to fix it but that was two days ago,” she said blowing a loose lock of hair out of her face.

Chloe

He chuckled. “I must say I’m impressed with him. For young man like him. He’d be a good little engineering officer but for now it might be worth while for him to be engieering assistant. I think I can take a look at that.” As he said as he went to the replicator. Noticing that there is a credit in the power supply and tells her “well it looks like I may have to cut all replicators offline on the station until I can get this done. But it’ll get done. All I need is to get back to my station grab a few more items, and it should be completed. If I happen to see other things wrong with it as I am working I’ll have to fix those too so I may bring extra stuff as well.” As he smiles and looks at the children and almost blushes at Chloe. “Sorry if I blush. It’s not anything that isn’t noticeable. Anyway I better be off and getting supplies. I’ll be back in a jiffy.” As he said heading out of her quarters getting more supplies.

Lt. Warren

“We will be here but do me a favor,” she asked taking a large sip of her coffee. “Don’t tell them the Harland kids took down the replicators on the entire station.” The laugh that came out after her statement was full and happy. Life might be crazy and hectic but there were worse things than broken replicators.

“Alright. And besides Chloe. Your secret is safe with me.” He said as he turned around going back and grabbing a few more things. He then muttered to himself impressive little kids =/\= Chloe what does it need for the repairs =/\= he asked.

An artificial voice chimed out in the room from the central computer. =/\=Something is blocking the isolinear induction manifold. There also appears to be a growth throughout the unit. All Systems have been shut down to contain the situation.=/\= Chloe had been wrong about the reason as to why the replicator had not been working at maximum efficiency. Instead of a coin or other small object, when Bernie opened the unit up he would find a mass of vegetables, fruit, meat, and other unwanted options from the past week’s dinner dumped all over the inside of the unit as if it were an old fashioned trashcan instead of a high tech replicator unit. The food was turning the tried and true appliance into what could only be thought of as a high-tech composter.

Nathan had been late to come home due to a patient insisting they delve into all the trauma she felt her mom had inflicted on her. It was after three hours and only getting into age twelve that Nathan felt it was time to take a break and get something to eat. Much to his chagrin, he found the station’s replicators all out. This leads him to head home, as he knew there was always a stockpile of stuff pre-replicated for easy grab with the kids. Sugary kid snacks were better than none.

The sound of familiar footsteps in the corridor pried one sleepy puppy eye open as Roscoe waited and listened. It felt to early for that particular stride time be approaching his door but Roscoe was still learning the routine.

One ear and then another perked up as he took in the information. One hundred ninety to two hundred pounds of force striking the metal plating every second indicated a casual stride of someone over six feet. No chatter so the person was walking alone. The scent of…Roscoe stiff tested the air to double check…Polo by Ralph Lauren….Daddy!. Instantly he was on all fours. Dad! Daddy. Daddy! Dad a series of deep words echoed in the quarters as Roscoe ran until he hit the small patch of carpet by the door. Roscoe slid as his paws landed on it but he did stop even if he was ungrateful about it. Casting a glance at Chloe, he let out a few more barks.

“Stop…settle. No one is here,” she hit her leg rolling her eyes. They had to have had a screw loose keeping a dog that size on a space station.

But it’s him. I know it. Watch. Three…Two…One, Roscoe counted out in a series of barks until the door slid open. Now the rule was his dad had to get two feet into the room before Roscoe could charge. The one foot thing was a no mas after an energetic charge had sent his unsuspecting father back into the corridor and into a group of people also passing the Harland quarters. Turned out his dad was as unstable as he was with those long legs which made sense because humans only had two legs to balance on instead of four. The second Nathan’s second foot hit the door jamb, Roscoe bounded off the carpet and onto Nathan’s thighs with his two front paws. Since dogs didn’t walk upright, Roscoe needed the boost to get high enough on Nathan’s chest so that his father was sure not to miss him.

“Daddy,” Mara jumped up from the couch and ran over to the door slamming herself into the side of Nathan’s leg. “Daddy…daddy…daddy,” she yelled out his name pulling at his belt trying to get him to pick her up.

“Daddy I wuv you sooooo much,” she said as Nathan hoisted her on his hip. Little arms locked around his neck kissing the side of his cheek as if she had not seen him in months. Mara knew she needed to do something to make her daddy happy because soon enough he was gonna want to have one of his come to Jesus meetings on the couch and Mara already had been practicing her innocent face…and alibi. “I made you a picture and picked out a book we can read.”

Entering Nathan looked around a few s seconds before spotting Chloe with Warren. He remembered the man from their session and wondered what must have broken for him to come. Seeing him at the replicator though it dawned on Nathan his promise he let lapse. “I swear I was going to get to that,” Nathan said as he put his bag down and walked over to Chloe as he leaned in to kiss her cheek.

“Yay yay just like that shelf in Mara’s room that is wobbly,” she pressed her cheek to his lips pretending to put but with a smile. With kids and a dog, it was not like they had free time in spades.

“So… since I seemed to have missed the inspection, what has the issue been?” Nathan asked to either, curious what was actually wrong with the replicator.

Nathan Harland, CNS

“It not me. I didn’t do it,” Mara immediately jumped in staking claim to her innocence in the situation. Having the pure faith of a child in their parent, she leaned back so that she could put her hands on her chest to ensure Nathan knew exactly who she was referring to. As if to further her allegation of innocence she also shook her head no and wore a wide-eyed expression of shock.
