“See I told you it would work. Ben and Frank call me the Black Angel of Electronics but I remind them that when things work the way they are supposed to they don’t need a hammer to adjust things back into place. Or in this case the flat surface of a table,” she shrugged. “So is it talking or does it need the old one-two to start spitting out the information we need.

“Well, I think I just solved the mystery of why we go through more tricorders than any other station in Starfleet,” quipped Mathias. Banging tricorders on a table. What was this, the dark ages? he asked himself.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

It told him .. not much. “Says it is the same as another tablet. What do ye know of that one?” he asked
- Nikki
OOC: I say that as that was a bit before Nikki’s time ..

Jessica sighed deeply. “So a few hours ago, we were checking in some Romulan artifacts from an archeological expedition. We were worried about the cultural theft of antiquities so we did a routine scan of the cargo. Most of it was shards of pottery and such but there was this one piece. The Romulan scientist assigned to help us review the cargo thought it was odd. When we got there it was not just odd but impossible. It had the image of,” she paused readying herself for the backlash, “the USS Enterprise inlaid in like mosaic or was carved in it. Art was never my thing but however, they got the image on the tablet it was definitely the USS Enterprise from the 2260’s. While this was odd to begin with the initial carbon dating of the tablet put it like two or three millennia ago. Of course, before we can get any real studying of the object we got called away due to power fluctuation,” Jessica replied waiting for the group to react.

OCC: Liam, I hope I recalled the events correctly. If not let me know if I missed something. ~ Kate

“Ahhhh,” Nikki said. Now things were coming into place like a good hand of Fizbin. Or at least a card or two was looking favorable. “The Enterprise ye say.” He had a soft spot for Kirk. That boss had propelled them along to where they were today and had inadvertently helped make his family far more wealthy and influential than they otherwise would have been. He turned the piece around in his hand as though to find something more like an engraved image of Kirk on it. “He did a lotta movin about in time.” Setting the piece down again he looked at the lass, animated and didn’t care about the talk all around her. He pointed to the girl and then the iron dame and said, “But that doesn’t explain them. The Kirk boss being back in time is not unusual te hear.” Unless Kirk found this same thing and bounced back in time because of it. Or it was made in Kirk’s era with the ship on it and then made its way into the past. “Did someone toss it into the mouth of the Guardian and now it’s been spit back out?”
Nikki

“Starfleet and your damn trinkets… stuff like this is gonna get people killed. You know how often I hear of Klingon, Romulan, or Cardassians getting caught in some temporal wakes causing time to go crazy? Almost never… yet Starfleet learns how to manipulate some devices and suddenly we are creating time paradoxes and temporal black holes… it’s like giving kids unlimited credit in a candy store.” Aedan said with a sigh at the sound of it all.

Aedan Teller

“Because we are the ones stopping them,” Jessica shot her husband an annoyed look. “Who stopped the Borg because we think out of the Borg..we did so don’t make it seem like we are doing something to cause the universe to explode every other week. The universe is always trying to implode. We are the ones defusing it,” she rolled her eyes at her husband.

Jessica Teller XO

There was going to be some serious fireworks later, Nikki thought. Either in or out of the bedroom, but there was a storm brewing there. With his three wives - two of them firebrands - he wasn’t afraid of storms. Perhaps that is why they were all now ex-wives, though the third he couldn’t take the rap for. “Those others control their media better. Or, better yet, just lie.” Truly, if they didn’t have sensors and eyes on the ground they’d still not know the Rommie’s had had their star blown up.
- Nikki

“That is the problem with closed organizations,” Jessica tried not to look at Nikki or her husband even though she wanted to deck both men. It was completely irrational but so was the situation and stress level right now. “You never know what is going on because it is always a smoke and mirror show. One hand is shaking yours and the other is pulling a gun to your kidney. Sucks when you aren’t sure if you can trust friends or family at times. You could literally be sleeping with the enemy or inviting him to dinner. The flip side is they can also be the greatest ally you could never expect in a tight situation but because they talk in riddles its anyone’s guess which mask they will wear in any given circumstance.” Her comment was entirely opinionated but based on the company at the table her comment was the elephant in the room. The problem was she had several thousand people on the station that were as much her responsibility as her command staff and family. Neither Aedan nor Nikki had any more experience with what was occurring than anyone in the room, yet between the two men combined, they probably knew ten times the intelligence than Starfleet’s intelligence department.

Jessica Teller XO

“You complain too much… and none of my tech caused this… I don’t think so at least. R&D hasn’t told me of anything new they studied…” Aedan said with a shrug, he was fairly certain it wasn’t him but with so many unknown variables who knew for certain. The outpost was like a petri dish of tech from all over.

Nikki thought that what the lass was saying was the best thing since sliced bread. “That’s what makes it excitin dar .. boss,” he said. He turned his mind to the matter at hand. “We know the iron lass here with the sweet tooth is from the future because the station has not been invaded in the past. And the wee lass here looks te be another future event but did she have a piece o the pot? Has anythin come up that was from the past?” His next thought was .. “Since this is happenin here what happens in this time that affects the future? It’s one thing to have an old pot with a ship on it but what do we do here with the pieces that were found that affects the future?” Nikki could track with that. In his thinking the best way to predict the future was to make it.
- Nikki

The armoured woman shrugged. “If it is a piece, does that mean you can reassemble it to be whole again?” As she was saying this, the tricorder began to beep rapidly, detecting a surge in chronometric particles again.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“Is that we are supposed to do? Is there more parts of this in those Romulan artifacts in the hold,” Jessica asked as the device in Nikki’s hand came to life.

“Daddy is that beeping from Mommy’s device or yours,” Cera asked as the tricorders beeping became so sharp and rapid it sounded like a static signal.

“That’s… there’s… shh don’t worry scuttle bug.” he said, almost not thinking as that was always what he called Cera when he tucked her in at night.

“I am reading a huge surge in chronometric particles. I am not sure if it is high enough to form a temporal vortex or a particle-wave but then again we could really use an engineer here unless anyone one of you have a plan,” Jessica said reading the device. She looked at her husband first and then Nikki. Both men she knew were far more than a humble Starfleet officer and business owner. Not caring if it annoyed the man or not she looked at Nikki. “Are you doing this,” she asked. If this was a big screen holo movie, her tone and question would have come off comical like a sidekick instead of accusing; however, the question would be the same. She didn’t put anything past those two men.

Jessica Teller XO

“If you think I would keep experimental tech on this Outpost you would have to be insane, the security here is laughable,” Aedan answered though the truth was it wasn’t that far off as he had deployed several R&D testing facilities on the surface on the planet.

~Aedan Teller

Mathias glanced Aedan’s way, but said nothing. Just because there supposedly was a high probability that they were cousins didn’t mean he trusted Teller. Mathias figured he must have been taking full advantage of any lapses in security. Soon the captain would have to bring someone in to fill the vacant Chief of Security position, someone who was far from being a pushover.

OOC: Cousins?! What is this a family business? Nikki’s gonna wonder what the racket is going on there <G>

‘And if you think we would believe that that would be laughable,’ Nikki thought. He was, however, distracted by the spike.

“Ever heard don’t crap where you sleep? I don’t want to wake up with a second head one day from some splicing tech that went awry or find myself in a temporal bubble as I travel through time… I got better things than to be experimented on by my own technology.”

“Has this happened before?” he asked, then, “What happened then?” The two could bicker about things but he was starting to focus as things were starting to come together. He glanced at the boss. “I’m the engineer, lass,” he said. The trouble was that there simply wasn’t so much ‘time’ travel on cruise ships. Or prison. As much as time seemed to expand or compress depending on the time.

“We weren’t actively scanning anything but just inspecting the Romulan artifacts. The power went out and then we were informed of temporal disturbances,” Jessica tried to carefully choose her words. The last thing she needed to do was scare the kid or upset the woman.

Jessica Teller XO

He used the tricorder in hand to connect with the others who had the pieces and who had, hopefully, scanned them into the system. Tapping in he sought to:
a) find out how many pieces there were and,
b) what it might look like when put together and,
c) did they have all the pieces

Nikki,

Mathias turned to the knight. “I’m sure we can find a way to reassemble the whole thing. What will happen if we do?” He wasn’t sure if all the mysterious individuals would disappear if they put it together or if assembling it would be a course of action they would all regret.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

The knight shrugged. “All I know was that I had this on hand when I appeared. I know as much about it, or even less, then you do.”

Nikki was pretty certain that the lass didn’t know. He’d bet on that but wasn’t about to start taking odds and a pool for that. He ran his hand over his short beard; there was not enough there to tug on. As much as he was one to plan a hit, when the solution (to him) was there they should take the bull by the horns. “Let’s start seein what kind of a jigsaw puzzle we have and if we have the pieces.” What was the worst that could happen?
- Nikki

As if fate heard Nikki’s last thought, a scream ran out through the open area as people started to run away from a group of strange humanoid figures dressed in golden gear marched towards the brewery. They were holding strange rifles shaped more like instruments than guns, and some even had trident-like spears strapped to their backs. Helmets with smooth blank fronts prevented their faces from being seen, although light occasionally shimmered from underneath. Seeing the group sitting at the cafe, one of the alien’s shouted and pointed at the piece of the tablet that was on display. They all stopped their march and raised their weapons, preparing to fire

The woman’s helmet suddenly unfolded from her collar formed around her head. “GET DOWN!” She shouted as swept aside and held out her arm, a wide shield of light forming and protecting the group from the barrage of shots that soon followed.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

“Please don’t let this be a holy war,” Jessica growled reaching for her phaser. Weapons reminded her of instruments and with al the gold her mind raced trying to figure out who the new guys were to the party. For some reason they reminded her of alien angels like the old stores she heard about trumpets having the power of guns. It was a silly thought but everything about today was off.

“Aedan you got her,” Jessica yelled out knowing he had the altered version of Cera already protected.

Aedan gruffed, this wasn’t his daughter no matter what they claimed. Still, leaving a child to die would make him look bad regardless as he huffed as he covered the little girl. The truth was Aedan though may seem more agitated than he was by the girl, his childhood was harsh and protection of the weak often became something he was known for. Aedan just didn’t know if he believed this little girl was real, and that scared him more that they all were interacting with something that shouldn’t exist.

This certainly wasn’t the first time Nikki had been shot at, however, usually he was expecting a hit. An Iotian motto that had survived long was ‘Expect a hit’. Nikki did. He didn’t, however, think that one would be coming in the form of golden garbed gangsters. He did see they were keen on the artifact and as Nikki dove for the deck he grabbed at the artifact piece. Once down he reached for his ‘piece’ as he studied the situation. The dame had a pretty nice shield; Nikki wondered if he could get his hands on one of those. It would take a bit more than just sweets to get that he thought. More like an outright seduction. But hey, whatever worked.

“I take it they are not belongin te ye,” Nikki said, shifting to a place where there was cover.
Nikki

Reaching her hand to he com badge, Jessica let out a calm but firm command. =/\=. Security report the promenade. Shots fired. I repeat shots fired =/\=

Jessica Teller. XO

As the shots rang out, alarm klaxons went off. An unfamiliar voice replied to the XO and said =/\= Confirmed. Response team actived. ETA 45 seconds. Security officers responding now. =/\=

As if to confirm the words, a pair of two man teams came from opposites sides of the Prromenade; probably the regular patrols for this section. Phasers drawn, one team took cover and the other did the same. One officer leaned out from cover and shouted out “STATION SECURITY!! DROP YOUR WEAPONS. NOW!!**”

Tenkiller, CoS

Nikki assessed the ‘troops’ that were there in their golden armor with the glorified rent a cop that seemed to collect in stations like this. It was not a pretty picture. But he was not going to be caught with his pants down. Tapping at his wrist watch he continued to watch the situation. A small whine and sparkles brought to him two of ‘his’ collection pieces - one a heater that was shaped much like an old fashioned tommy gun, large circular magazine propping it up. While it may not necessarily help him much it would make him feel much better. This model fired energy rounds rather than bullets. He figured that the golden rods armor was such that it may reflect energy bolts. He’d let the security boys find that out.
- Brako

OOC: Precautionary bump .. Gene

Jessica loved a good firefight like the rest of the but less so because she didn’t have a phaser. Turning to face Aedan, Jessica shot him a look.

“Fine,” she pulled Cera towards her as Aedan joined the rest of the men unloading every style of weapon. “If I don’t get a gun no one gets to play,” she grumbled tapping her com badge. =/\=Tenkiller, Anesthizine =/\= she said rapidly. “Administered through environmental systems as a gas to take them out. Send medical down to revive us but keep them under.=/\= Jessica knew that the gas would take them out but there was a chance that it would also take out the insurgents. If it didn’t however, Tenkiller would not be affected. He would be running the playbook and could protect them. Either way, it was an option to solve the situation. Jessica wished she had had more time with Tenkiller on a personal level. If they had, the security chief would know she trusted him and his instincts. If he didn’t see merit in her call, he would disobey her. Tenkiller had a better vantage point of the situation so Jessica would place her trust in him. “Take a deep breath,” she warned Aedan.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

“This only helps if it takes them out. It’s a risk, Commander,” said Mathias just loud enough for his first officer to hear. He had half a mind to quickly overrule the command as his immediate assessment was that it would weaken their position. Despite several of them being unarmed, at the moment they were protected. Flooding the Promenade with anesthizine would render them and the knight unconscience. They had no guarantee that it would neutralize the gold-clad hostile force. He didn’t believe it was worth the risk and as a younger man he would have taken control and not trusted the judgment of another. But Commander Teller had a security background that he didn’t have. Long ago as a lieunenant he had learned a very painful lesson that he wasn’t always the best one to make a call in a security emergency. It went against his very nature to trust someone else more than himself, but this was one of those moments he felt compelled to.

The only response that came through was =/\= Confirm.=/\=

“You know if you wanted a weapon you could have just asked!” Aedan said as he but his hand over his face as he pulled out a phase pistol from his pocket. “When do I not carry something? I work with Ferengi for Pete’s sake… you never go unarmed with them.”

Aedan Teller

Within seconds, the ventilation systems began dispersing the gas, and people thought the section began to collapse into unconsciousness. As people started to fall, heavy steps could be heard and them a team of five Security officers wearing respirators and carrying various armaments came into view. At the lead was the new Security Chief.

Tenkiller, CoS

“How long can you hold your breh....th,” Jessica let out a small cough as she began to feel the edges of her vision cloud. Jessica leaned out to touch Aeadan’s arm before slumping over onto his shoulder. Her heart was racing not because of the anesthzine but because the last time she was knocked out she woke up tied to a chair with phaser to her head.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

Nikki muttered. “They have helmets lass,” before taking a deep breath. Note to self: carry a breather with him for just such a situation.
- Nikki

“She doesn’t believe in details…” Aedan said taking one last deep breath.

“Who wears helmets in the Federation? No one,” Jessica said emphatically. “Borg no helmets. Cardassians expose the noggin. Romulans, Klingons, Ferengi, Nausicaans, Species 99142,” she rattled them off probably not getting the last one right actually knowing she did not get the number right. This proved Aedan’s point making her madder. Why did anyone decide numbering a species was a good idea anyway. “Well except the Breen but this does not feel like Breen.”

Jessica Teller XO

“The smart ones lass,” Nikki murmured. ” Borg didn’t need them. The rest would in their general combat scenarios where needed. But that was neither here nor there. “The steel lass is from the future. He suspected that they were too. And that concerned him in regards to the vaunted security team. The Feds visited Iotia. Heaters was nothing compared to what the Feds had.

“Just don’t get shot… or hire enough people to sponge the shots… you know I am starting to think I need more of my own security here… we need to have a family meeting with Mathias for more of my guards patroling…” Aedan said, feeling sure this might have been handled seeing as half the stores here he owned or had a share in, and therefore would get his protection.

  • Nikki

Mathias managed to tap his communicator as he was collapsing. =/\= Tenkiller, the Infirmary…=/\=

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

As the rest slipped into unconsciousness, Tenkiller focused on the armored (and helmeted) individuals in gold. Taking cover behind a structural support, he activated the loudspeaker on his respirator. “ATTENTION. This Station Security. You will drop your weapons and raise your hands. This is not a request, and I will not repeat myself. Do it. Now.” His voice was calm, even… and did not suggest that he was going to go back on what he said. Through internal comms, he spoke to the Security Team. =/\= Engage on my mark. Highest Stun settings. =/\=

Tenkiller, CoS

Aedan Teller

Tenkiller’s brow furrowed on confusion, but an order was an order. He keyed his Security comms =/\= Delta squad to the Infirmary, asap. All security personnel to emergency posts. Hostiles on station. Transporter room, site to site transport. Get me to the infirmary. NOW! =/\=
He tapped the shoulder of his second to let her know she was lead on this site and the familiar whirl of lights crossed his vision and he vanished.

Tenkiller, CoS

((OOC: Any chance an alarm would sound anywhere on the Outpost? Wondering if Science knows things aren’t well on the station? Or has it not gotten that far, yet?))

OOC: Alarms went off as soon as they fired, so yes, folks should know things are happening.

Bump for GM

The unknown assailants just tilted their heads before continuing their attack, apparently they did not speak the language of diplomacy. The helmeted blonde woman grabbed the metal remains of one of the tables and chucked it at one of the enemies, causing them to crash into the individual behind them.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

The Security team opened fire, concentrating their attacks on the golden armor figures. Their phaser rifles were set at the highest stun settings.

Security

OOC: Is not the blonde woman the one defending the XO and others in the brewery while the ones in the golden armor are the antagonists?.. GM? .. Gene

OOC: Woops. Sorry. Got a bit confused. Changed post to make it correct.

James

OOC: Fixing unnecessary tag that was left after person responded. -Adam

The phasers seemed to have little effect on most of the figures, their shots bouncing off the shiny armour and hitting the surroundings. However, one of the enemies took one to his arm joint, which caused him to go tumbling to the ground.

Mr. Snuggles (GM)

Mathias regained conscienceness in time to notice the shot to the elbow take down the intruder. “Security, target their joints! They’re vulnerable at their joints,” he shouted, trying to speak over the phaser blasts. He kept low, still unarmed, and crawled to a more protected position under a table. His immediate assessment was that gassing the helmeted hostiles seemed to do as little good as he was imagining it would.

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

There was no verbal response from the Security team, but their shots began to focus on the joints at the elbows, knees, and hips.

Security

As the firefight continued, Captain McGarrett looked around at the officers and civilians present to assess their status. He was concerned about all of them, of course, but his mother was especially on his mind. How he wished she was still on Ravis IV.

Remembering the last thing he said before he passed out, he tapped his communicator and spoke loudly. =/\= McGarrett to Tenkiller. Is the artifact from the Klingon’s brain secure? I’m sure they’ll want that one if they’re after the one here. =/\=

Captain Mathias McGarrett, CO

A swirling field of lights indicated a transport in, and the Security Chief appeared and dropped to a knee next to the Captain. “Here, Skipper.” and he handed him a pulse compression rifle. He surveyed the area as he readied his own weapon. “Oh, and I got ya this. Made it from scratch.” and he chuckled and he showed him the replicated chip in his hand before dropping it in his boot.

Tenkiller, CoS

Jessica shoved the kid low and behind her and Aedan. “Evie can you move her,” Jessica yelled drawing her weapon and starting to target where the CO indicated on the invading soldiers. If the elbow joint was vulnerable then every other joint was probably the same. Gunny had always taught her to use logic when fighting especially since she was just over a buck and a quarter when wet. He also taught her to value the less popular targets in a fight such as knees, elbows, ankles, and wrists. It didn’t matter how tall they were or strong if you took away their ability to stand or hold a weapon. Taking aim at thier kneecaps, Jessica began trying to pick off the targets from below the table.

Hearing Jessica call out, Evie looked around from her spot safely tucked under a tale at a side booth. There was no way she could get to the child. That was until she remembered her own children’s childhood. Until now the game of double-decker bus where Mathias sat on shelf and his sibling sat on the other as the third pushed them around the kitchen seemed to have no point. Diving out low she grabbed the edge of the pastry cart that was brought in just before the attack started. Swiping the bottom shelf of dessert, Evie looked at Jessica’s back. Her eye also caught her son. It was only natural for her to worry about him, yet in a weird way she felt a surge of pride and happiness seeing Mathais defend those he cared for without a thought of his own safety. She should have been focused only on her first born but deep inside Evie knew all his years of training had prepared him for the. He was born and bred to be a Captain which was evidenced by the extreme loyalty he gained from anyone that had the honor of knowing him.

“Jessica,” Evie yelled out bracing herself to shove the cart towards her nephew and the XO. “Put her on here and give cover fire,” she shoved the cart hard towards Jessica.

Hearing her name and feeling the cart slam into the side of her leg, Jessica instantly knew how Evie wanted to remove the child from the firefight. “Aedan....cover me,” Jessica said turning to grab Cera two point oh as she thought of her in her mind. “Okay honey we are going to go for a ride. ” Quickly stuffing the kid onto the bottom of the cart she locked eyes with Evie on the other side of the room. “Hold on baby…’kay,” she tried to sound positive and upbeat.

“Aedan....Nikki,” she gave the men a heads up before kissing the top of Cera’s head and shoving her across the room on the cart towards Evie’s location.

Lt. Commander Jessica Teller XO

OOC: Did I completely miss something? Last I saw we got gassed and Nikki was happily snoring away while security got into the firefight … Gene

OOC: It didn’t take, no one can hold us back Gene… our power is universal. :P
