Chris turned around in the chair and looked at the CSO, wincing a bit from the pain. “Mr. Grey. I just told comms the new hail message for distress. With these bodies and a quarter of our ship floating around us, There will be no bluffing. You might not have heard me since you were busy with your tasks. That’s alright. But no to the probe. Firing one out to them might provoke them. They might think we were firing on them. No. Mr. Grey. They have us by the balls on this one. We can only hope they are friendly. Nothing else we can do. I have ordered the arming of every available person. That might help in case of boarding. What other ways can you manipulate a probe? Turn one into a bomb to destroy this ship or theirs?”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“Yes, sir, sorry sir. I was… distracted” The young scientist shook his head and looked back at the Commander “They would be able to detect Photon torpedoes attached to a probe and dismantle it fairly easily if we assume they have any type of sensors. I don’t think we have the launch capabilities to shoot or control one beyond pushing it out and have it send a recurring message.” He seemed more focused on the task at hand now that he had a singular task to focus on “I’m no weapons expert but our Mark III Torpedoes could fit inside a gutted Shuttlecraft, With proper shielding or some form of radiation leakage I might be able to hide the torpedoes from them.” He gave the commander an odd look “But without a launcher, they’d need to be activated manually, I don’t know if it’s possible to jury-rig it another way, by that I mean It’s not my field of expertise.”

CSO

“That’s ok. I just don’t want our ship and tech to be stolen and used, especially if they have just gotten into space. Our stuff would be very advanced to them. Or it could be the reverse. I just want a bomb incase the board us and there would be no other alternative other than blow this dang thing apart so they don’t get their hands on it. Loring might do something similar.”

He waited a bit before continuing. “You said they could detect photon torpedos and dismantle it…that is if they could. Like I said, they may be inferior to us and not possess that kind of tech. So we will not luanch it. But do see to it that we push one out with the hail that I’m sending so That maybe they might pick that up. Get on it Mr. Grey! Time is of the essence!”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

William looked at the Commander With a confused look “So to reitirate, I’m to make a probe that sends a distress call, Yes?” He didn’t quite understand the OCmmanders interesting manner of speaking.

CSO

“Yes Mr. Grey. ” was all he said.

An NE looked up from his station, “Sir, you don’t really think they mean us harm do you?” He looked a bit shaken considering the prospect that an unknown would just come in swinging instead of helping them out.

Chris looked at him and smiled. “My dear fellow. I understand and can appreciate your apprehension and I’m not going to blow smoke up your butt. I don’t know their intentions. But better to be safe than sorry. They might be friendly. They might be friendly at first as a ruse to get us to drop our guard or they may be downright hostile. Who knows. But the facts are this my boy. A quarter of our ship is broken off and floating next to us along with the bodies of many of our comrades. You can see for yourself out the view screen. We have very little power and no means to defend ourselves unless they board. That is why I’m arming everyone. So if you believe in any type of higher being or god or gods, then please say something for us that they will be friendly. If not. Then make peace with yourself. For in about two hours time we might either be blown up, boarded and killed, boarded and captured, or just tortured and then killed. Or we can be shaking hands with new friends. Sorry to be the bearer of bad and unwanting news, but please return to your task unless you have anymore questions.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

After a bit of working the console nearby beeped a warning. The incoming unknown ship was now 30 minutes away. Close enough with the damaged sensors to get a hazy picture.

The long body of the ship slowly faded into view through the static. Its copper hue and giving a more clear profile of the wide nose section. It’s general profile was almost like that of a serpent.
A voice cut through as the image distorted to a person. Their armor black and sharp, complimenting the hard neck ridges. Raised ridges around the eyes giving the man a menacing look before meeting at a prtion above the eyes that flattened into a divet. Giving the man the vague impression of a spoon stuck to his forhead.

The man on the screen barked something in his native language. He scowled and repeated himself before looking over off screen and barking something at someone else.

Mwezi returned to the bridge, carrying enough phasers for everyone there. He began to hand them out quietly, glancing once or twice at the screen.

Mwezi

As Nack saw the phasers, he took one but holstered it. He whispered to the Security officer, “Not completely necessary. We can win this. I have full confidence in this ship.”
