After a rather interesting day of rewriting some code, going over sensor results and compiling research data William his half-finished bottle of Single Malt Whiskey and made his way to the Galley. Grabbed a steak with some baked potatoes, luck that they still had some fairly fresh meat and potatoes as the nutrition cubes were not something that the young scientist really enjoyed. Taking a seat in a far corner William enjoyed his meal in relative peace and quiet. He finished in a rather short amount of time, pushing the plate away and pouring himself another glass of Scotch quite happily. Only a shame that this was his only bottle, he’d have to get some more whenever he was Earthside next.

CSO

The galley cook had finished up his tidying and with a towel over one shoulder and cup of coffee in hand, made his way over to the CSO’s table. “May I join you, Lieutenant and take some weight off these barking dogs?” The portly cook said as he reached the table.

Galley Cook

William smiled at the man “Of course, please have a seat” He sat up straighter as he waited for his company “Would ye care for a glass? Nothing like a little taste of home”

Will Grey

“I could use a splash in my coffee as a pick me up.” Charlie the cook said with a nod as he took a seat across from Grey. “So you seemed a bit introspective, Lieutenant. Everything all right?”

Charlie Galley Cook

William obliged, pouring a healthy serving into the man’s coffee before topping up his already half-filled glass “I wouldn’t say they’re wrong exactly, just different than I thought. I went ta university at fifteen, after graduating I went straight to the Academy, most of the Lads and lassies I went up with serve as junior officers on Science vessels or something more exploratory. I stayed on Earth a year to tutor, I like teaching” William stopped to have a sip “And here I am, Head Scientist on a Starfleet Battlecruiser.” He shrugged slightly “I dunno, I just saw things going differently. More exploratory Science, less explosive excitement.” He chuckled dryly “It’s a great career opportunity, a good start to a long and fruitful Starfleet Career for certain.” He looked at the Chef and smiled slightly “I apologize Chef, I tend to think a lot outloud.”

Will Grey

“Not at all, Lieutenant. Life is strange. I never saw myself as shipping out as a galley cook on an exploratory vessel but I did my time in service so doing this for retirement just keeps me hands in.” The older cook took a sip of his laced coffee and smacked his lips.”Aah that does hit the spot!”

Charlie Galley Cook

Will raised a glass in a half salute “Indeed it does” He turned to look out the viewport “What were yer plans for the future then?” He asked curiously without looking back at him.

CSO

“Ahh, a plot of land somewhere on one of the colony worlds. I actually do have a good bit set aside for it but I just couldn’t see meself retiring like that yet though. The siren call of her out there keeps me coming back.” Charlie said as he tilted his coffee mug toward the viewport.

Charlie Galley Cook

“Oh really? You know I’ve never set a foot on another world outside Sol. I went to Mars once on Vacation and I have an Uncle on Luna but before I was assigned here I’d never left the Home system, most of mah Family has stayed earthside since before the Federation. My Great Grandfather was the last Grey to Serve in Starfleet and My Father’s Brother was the frst in almost a hundred years tah leave the system.”

Will Grey

“Ahh, you have a fine family tradition. I am the one and only in Starfleet myself. My parents passed away before I was 18 and I joined the service to have something to do after graduation.” Charlie took a large swig of his coffee as he looked back at Will.

Charlie

Tyler walked in with her family heirloom flask full of alcohol. She sat at an empty spot at the bar.

Scott, CE

William saw the Engineer from the corner of his eye, he cocked his head slightly. He’d not had much of a chance to meet the woman. He gave her a friendly wave, beckoning her over.

CSO

Tyler had pulled out her PaDD from her bag that she had brought with her. She didn’t realize anyone wanted her attention.

Scott, CE

William shrugged as the Engineer read her panel, turning back to the Chef “How long have you been working ships then?” He asked curiously.

CSO

A few moments later, the tall form of an alien security officer stepped into the lounge. With the bulk he carried eith his seven-foot height, it was difficult to be unnoticed, but he did his best not to draw attention as he sat down at the bar.

Mwezi, Sec

“Ahh, one moment. I need to go see what our illustrious Security officer would like.” Charlie said as he heaved his bulky shape out of his chair and walked behind the bar and approached Mwezi.”What can I get you, Ensign?” He asked as he neared him, using the towel over his shoulder to wipe the bar.

Charlie Galley Cook

“Go sit back down Charlie I’ll take care of Mwezi” she said as she came from somewhere in the back. When she had entered no one had even noticed her. stealth had become one of her greatest assets.

Lt. (j.g.) Givens,

Charlie raised his brow but said,”Ah Lieutenant but if the Ensign requires a bite to eat I’ll stick by to make it. No offense but I prefer to be the only cook in my kitchen.”

Charlie Galley Cook

Tyler noticed the commotion the small group was making as she remained nose-deep in engineering report.

Scott, CE

Will stifled a smile as the intelligence officer appeared as if from thin air. He grabbed his drink and looked back outside.

CSO

Adira chuckled and turned her attention to Charlie “I’ve been coming to see every night for how long, and you still don’t trust me in your kitchen, and here I thought we were teaching each other something all those night we’ve been spending together.”

Adira

Charlie grinned a bit sheepishly and shrugged,”Ah lass, its a cook’s pride and joy.” He said without remorse before he looked back at Mwezi.”Did you want something to eat, Ensign?”

Charlie Galley Cook

Tyler had finally finished her Engineering report. With what had happened with Loring, she needed something to take her mind off it. She looked at the group and made her way towards them. “Mind if I join you?”

Scott, CE
