“Hmm…” Mwezi thought for a moment. “Computer, reprogram our physicalities to those of Raka, and place us in the city of Ba’slu,” he spoke, and the environment around them seemed to shimmer for a moment before the sunshine was replaced by muted green light and they appeared between massive trees, on a bridge made of woven tree branches.

Mwezi

“Hmm, fascinating.” Stovik said as he took a few moments to look around and study the jungle like area they were now in. It was so unlike his own home planet that he found the effects mesmerizing. Fortunately it was just a simulation as well so what would have been heavy, humid, jungle air did not cause him discomfort. He studied their immediate surroundings closer wondering if the bridge led to habitats in the branches.

Captain Stovik

Mwezi began to walk along the bridge, his form lithe and small like the rest of them. He was fairly used to the idea of experiencing the form of another creature with this technology, but understood that for the Federation officers it might take a little getting used to. The computer scanned their minds and took in impulses of wanting to move forward as a real body did, and one didn’t have to think about moving their legs, but it still took some mental getting used to.

He stepped up to a door and opened it. “This is the library, if you wish to see some artwork,” he suggested.

“Otherwise, we could see a different environment, or we could return to the dining hall,” he spoke.

Mwezi

“I would be very interested in seeing your artwork,” The Captain said.” I would also be very interested in learning more about your various peoples. Their individual society and political makeup.” It was not hard for Stovik to figure out how to move in this situation. Vulcan’s had natural psi ability and his was high. So for him to think in a ‘psi’ like body was not hard.

Captain Stovik

Chris was not psi so his first few steps were a bit awkward. “I to would love to see your artwork and know more about you all and everyone else. It looks like a bunch of individual tribes but come together as one force like the Great Sioux Indian tribe of the Earth’s past.” He said as he was walking into the room.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

Mwezi nodded, and the five of them proceeded into the virtual library. “The Mind Chamber is used as entertainment for individuals, but it has also been deeply integrated into our educational systems. With the Mind Chamber, we are able to fine tune and individualize learning programs for every child which is unique to their learning style. Not many schools have integrated this technology, and it is generally only used for a few afternoons a month in those which do use it, but as far as I have heard, results have been positive,” he said with a grin.

They walked through the door, and before them was a magnificent space. They were at the edge of a vast vertical cavern, all of the walls lined with books upon books, with a massive vertical column in the middle, blocking the view of the other side. There were walkways carved out of the natural wood, windows that let in the faint light from the green under-canopy, and thousands of glowing spots which must be some sort of light source, although what was causing the light wasn’t clear. Mwezi led them to the edge of the outer walkway, then glanced back. “If you want to glance through a book or two, you can, although I’m not actually sure if you will be able to read what is inside,” he chuckled.

Surprisingly, the contents of the books were actually quite legible. Whatever tech was allowing the federation officers to understand the Galdori that Kula was speaking did the same for the text.

Mwezi

“In all oddities, it is perfectly legible, Mwezi.” If She could have expressed surprise, it would have been written all over her features. Although, nothing beyond the simplicity of consideration shone behind that Vulcan facade, one she hadn’t yet the reason to stray from. “Does your people possess a type universal translator, which allows us to understand the text on these pages?” It was the only explanation she could accurately place, judging by the legibility of the words before her, allowing her to comprehend its text and, if chosen to read, perhaps decipher a possible meaning.

“I do not intend to sound rude, in any way. It is simply a curious question,” She added, sifting through the book, as to figure out what ‘secrets’ the pages do dutifully held.

CMO

Mwezi was a little flabbergasted at that, and it was Kula who responded.

“Well, I suppose it could be in how the Chamber works to input the information into our minds. Perhaps it is bypassing the barriers of language and merely imprinting the meanings of the texts onto your minds, letting your brains interpret it as words in your own language? We shall certainly have to put some work and study into this,” her face had an elated expression on it, the scientist within her overloading at the possibilities, the studies, the time spent with aliens that would be made possible by this…

“Hmm. Quite fascinating. In the same context, I do wonder what language should appear for those who speak multiple languages.” She was not certain what she was reading the words in, only certain of the fact they were legible to her. After all, scripture had become all the same, in this chamber.

Raising his brow in curiosity, Stovik too walked over to a shelf and studied the spines of the books. He was looking more for the subjects and topics of the books to see where the interests lay.

Captain Stovik

Chris to was surprised that he could read the spines of the books and took one off to examine it. It was about art and beamed a smile towards Mwezi and Kula. “I..I can read this! This is wonderful!” He looked at the paintings for a few more minutes then put the book back and just looked at the library itself. It was one of the most impressive buildings that he had ever been in.

Looking over at Mwezi. “Mwezi. Is this library that we are in just something programmed or is it an actual building somewhere on your planet?”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“It does exist. The Library of Ba’slu. Unless I specifically mention otherwise, every place I take you with the Mind Chamber is… let us say, a replica of a real location. Galdori scientists have spent decades taking in detailed scans of places of note on our planet, to preserve the legacy of this place in digital copy should we ever lose access to the real thing. All of the knowledge of the Galdori people is wrapped up in the computers aboard this station - copies exist elsewhere, but SkyBase is the biggest collection of information our race has created,” he said with a small grin.

Mwezi

bump

“That is remarkable!” Chris explained. “Are there any other buildings on this level of caliber or higher?”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“If you are referring to the size of the library, yes. The architecture is unique to Ba’slu city, but there are similarly incredible places all over the planet. Similar to the incredible constructions of Earth. The towers of Dubai, the pyramids of Egypt, the Notre Dam, the many waterfalls, the wall of China…” Mwezi listed.

“Truly!” T’Aria remarked, tugging her gaze away from where she had been carefully watching this. She was growing far more curious about these species and their natures. A part of her wanted to ask into their anatomy, beyond what she could see. However, she refrained, wondering if she could strike up such a conversation with Mwezi, at a later date.

T’Aria
Doc

Chris stopped dead in his tracks and turned very slowly towards T’Aria with his eyes even wider then when he first saw this library. “Did I just notice that you showed true emotion just now?! You sounded excited. I wonder if it was that you really were or that these virtual things are messing with us since we look like them and can read their languages? What do you think doctor?”

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“It is highly doubtful that the units interfere with one’s free will, Commander. I do not feel any such intrusion.”Stovik murmured.”More then likely the doctor just allowed her understandable curiosity to get the best of her. ”

Captain Stovik

Chris nodded. “Quite right. It was just a thought. However, you have lived longer and is more practiced then she. It might take longer for you to feel its effects as you say. But this is probably just silly talk and if her curiosity did get the best of her, I couldn’t blame her. Just look at this place?!”
He started looking around again.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“Ah.. yes; the Captain is quite correct. It was merely an expression based upon allowing emotions to overrule logic. My apologies.” T’Aria seemed to regain her stoic demeanour, embarrassment having previous crosses her mind, but she did not allow that to show through her apathy. Oh how tragic that would be for any Vulcan, specifically before a human. “You are not wrong, sir. This establishment is incredible, beyond explanation.”

Mwezi chuckled. “The Mind Chamber does not effect the psychology of those using it. That which you perceive as a physical emotional response is merely an interpolation of what the chamber senses from the mind and is attempting to translate into emotions,” he said. The tail on his physical model flicked back and forth in a feline manner as he began to lead them across the small bridge over to the inner column of the library. Once they had passed through that, they were in a much more conservative room, with a floor all the way across except for the very middle, where there was a railing before a hole that seemed to go all the way down. There was also a spiraling staircase on the wall, making its way all the way around the room as it ascended. Also decorating the walls were painted artworks. The styles varied, ranging from something similar to grecian art, to medieval-style art, to hyper realistic and abstract. Mwezi smiled as he watched his companions explore and examine the room. The diameter of this smaller chamber was probably about eight meters, while the larger chamber of the tree was about twenty meters in diameter.

OOC: thanks for helping me flesh out my planet. ;) lol

Stovik moved over to where the artwork was displayed and studied it curiously. Art usually reflected the society it was created in so might tell him something about its evolution.

Captain Stovik

Seemingly pushing away the earlier occurrence, T’Aria found herself to be observing the art with a sense of articulation. She wondered if there would be visible dates to when these pieces were forged, or if it would be a matter of estimation as to which was older than the next.

Dr. T’Aria
CMO

Most of the older art pieces were paintings of the Galdori mythology, historical events, and ancient figures. Most were labeled with artist, medium, and approximate date of creation, if known. The oldest pieces, what seemed to be photographs of cave paintings, claimed to be from a time more than ten thousand years ago, which the label named ~4000 B.U. - Before Unification. This was the equivalent of about 7000 years of earth time B.U., since the base system was different on Galdor.

Early artwork portrayed only one species at a time, but as the artwork progressed in time painted, up to The Day of Unification, about six-thousand earth years ago, multiple races being portrayed got more and more common to see. After that, it was rare to see less than two in a piece of historical or mythological art. Parallels like the Greek and Roman Pantheons could be seen in the mythological art.

Something strange was that even in art that was seemingly before the four terrestrial races had met, there was evidence of a shared mythology. Although the exact names and depictions varied, the depicted stories were rather similar…

Mwezi

bump (this vanished!)

“Mister Mwezi,” T’Aria spoke up when she noticed the oddity surrounding their religion. “I am curious; in regards to your religious practices.. It would appear each of the four races shared similar beliefs in mythology, prior to the Unification. Similar to the various monotheistic religions of Earth, which follow a single ‘God’ although have a multitude of versions of an akin being, and the stories surrounding their precense.” She paused, “Do you happen to know why there are such similarities between the religions of your people even prior to the acceptance of each other?”

Dr. T’Aria
CMO

Mwezi nodded slightly, and there was a slight twitch of his digitally feline tail. “Yes, although you may find it difficult to believe. Our gods… Are real beings,” he fell silent, allowing his three guests to process his words and their meaning. He had received many different responses to such a claim in the past, and doubted their replies would be much different than usual.
