The female gently gathered lengthy blonde hair from her shoulders into a bun atop her head, to be held in place by two sticks bearing small blue stones at their tips. Hazel eyes studied her own form in the mirror, ensuring that the her uniform was to standard. Hyper-pigmented skin resembling humanoid vantablack stood proud in its Vulcan form, lithe with the elegant slopes of hidden muscle beneath. A delicate hand found its way to the mirror, pressing palm to cold glass, sending a shiver down the woman’s frame. The Vulcan knew it was illogical to view ones physical form as being beauteous or uninspiring, that it was naught but the transport of the mind. Yet, the shadow laden Vulcan looked on in interest at her tall frame clad in the science station blue of her first post, the Chernov.

Interrupting the woman’s thoughts, a small bell sounds from beside her figure and she knows it is time to leave. Her shift begins soon, and it would be prudent to be at station in a timely manner. Performing a final check from her hair to her boots, the shadow leaves her quarters and makes her way to the lift. Just before the lift could be hailed, a young female human startled at the shadow’s existence whilst coming about a corner, obviously uncomfortable with the Vulcan female’s shadowy appearance. A small curve appeared at the corner of the shadow’s lips at remembering how she gained her nickname, but quickly as it had appeared it disappeared - to be replaced by a curt nod of the head in the direction of the upset ensign before moving at a brisk pace away down the hall.

With an uneventful flurry of soundless rubber boots against metal floor, the shadow made her way though the bay in search of Chief Science Officer Grey. As stated in her memorandum, he was easy enough to find. To save time on pleasantries, the woman drew within a reasonable distance of the CSO and introduced herself.

“Ensign Ashau Veh, reporting for duties Sir.”

The chair behind the desk inside the Department Heads Office within the Chernovs small Science lab spun around. In the chair sat a thin young man in a Blue officer uniform. His single silver sleeve stripe denoted him as a Lieutenant. In his hand was a PaDD that he slowly lowered to his desk. He uncrossed his legs and stood up “Ah yes, I’ve been expecting you” He smiled politely, his hand stretched out slightly but not to shake her hand but instead to offer her to sit. “Please have a seat” His accent was a soft Scottish brogue.
