Chris was in a slight daze when the turbolift doors opened to the bridge. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly and stepped onto the bridge. He looked for the Comm officer and went to them. “I have orders to inform you to go to radio silence until further notice. No messages will transmit without the Admiral, the Captain’s or my command and authority. If a transmission comes in then evaluate it and if deemed important then contact myself only. If anything comes in for the Admiral do the same. You understand?”

Ne Romans looked up from communications console and raised an eyebrow at the Commander. “Understood Sir”

Chris then went to the helm officer. “Set a course for where the planet Vulcan used to be. Not the new one. The old one. Punch it once you’re ready. Go warp 5. Don’t tell anyone only your relief. “

He looked around the bridge. “Actually. No one is allowed to leave the bridge. Use my and the Captains offices to sleep until we get to where we’re are going. No transmission are leave the room, not even to your loved ones. I’ll hopefully know more later when I return. Once I leave I will lock the lift from getting up here but medical will have the code incase something happens. See you all in a little while. ”

With that he turned to leave unless there where questions.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

A ensign said questioning “the new vulcan sir?”

GM

Chris stopped in his tracks and turned slowly around to face the Ensign. “No. The old one. That’s where we’re going. That’s all I can say. Not because it’s top secret but because that’s all I know. I’m going to find out more. ” He looked at everyone else to see if they had any more questions.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

“Do you wish to be informed once we arrive to our destination if you’ve yet to return?” Adira asked from the security station.

Lt. (J.G.) Givens, sec/intell

“Yes. Givens I do. Inform me one day out, then at 12 hours, then six hours and once you get to five, every hour from then until I say stop. I don’t know how far we are away. And one other thing. Everyone listen up. Until we get a new CoS, Lt Givens will be the acting CoS. Route everything through her. I’ll see you all later. I got a sh#t storm…er a meeting to attend. ” with that he turned and left.

Commander Chris Taggart XO

William raised both eyebrows in surprise and with a hint of amusement. Commander Taggart was not what he expected from an Executive Officer that was for certain “Congratulation, Lieutenant Givens.” He said from his Science Console with a polite smile.

CSO

Adira raised an eyebrow at the Commander as he left the bridge. Some people’s way of doing things she would never understand. She let her hands flow over the buttons on the console that was in front of her. She pulled up the current ETA on her screen as the CSO spoke.

“Thank you!” She said as she waited for the information to pop up on her screen!

Lt. (J.G.) Givens, Acting COS

William merely nodded as he continued his duties. He wondered why they would be going back to the old Vulcan system. With the major loss of that system it was considered more of a memorial these days. What was so secretive that no transmissions were being allow out. Such was the life on a battlecuriser he mused.

CSO

Kane didn’t look up from the tactical console, but said “‘Grats, Givens. Hope you don’t screw it up.” Coming from ninety-nine-point-nine percent of the galaxy, that would definitely be an insult. Coming from the tattooed man with hair falling across his face? Who knew. It either still was an insult or it could be the most sincere wish for success. With Kane one never really knew which.

Kane, Tac / Med

“Only if your involved will I screw it up” she said giggling a bit then turning her attention to her console waiting for the results to come In.

Givens Acos/intell

William raised an eyebrow, banter, and camaraderie. He’d been warned of it by his teachers in Uni but He hadn’t expected it in the manner he was seeing. Starfleet was a lot rougher than the young scientist was expecting. Now that the first ‘real’ mission was underway he wondered what to expect.

CSO

Kane replied to Givens “Yeah, I have that effect on women.” he said flatly. “I’m around and they start making bad decisions, ignoring their responsibilities, forgetting their proper upbringing… it’s a curse, really. But if it saves one poor schmuck from the clutches of a debutante or cougar, I guess I’ll have to live with it.”

Kane, Tac / Med

She pushed a few buttons on her console to bring up their ETA to Vulcan “it has to be all the tattoos you got that makes it hard for the women to concentrate on their job.” She glanced back to the CSO “you okay? “

“I am a &^%$ing work of art, it’s true.” he responded smugly.

Givens, intell/ ACOS

The computer brought up their ETA ‘Current time to Vulcan at present speed, 1 day, 6 Hours, 19 Minuets & 39 Seconds’. A large warning appeared also ‘WARNING.... RESTRICTED AREA.... UNSAFE DEBRIS IN AREA… ALL VESSELS AVOID AREA… BY ORDER OF STAR FLEET COMMAND’

GM

William looked up from his console at the Acting Security Chief “Yes, of Course, Lieutenant” He gave a polite but slightly awkward smile. “I do believe hat Starfleet doesn’t want us to go there. I wonder what possessed Command to send us” He mused, changing the subject.

CSO

“If I had to guess the motivations for anything that Command tasks ships with, it would probably be summed up in three words: ‘They’re nuts.’ And before you say anything, yes I know that’s two words.” And he jerked his head in Givens direction. “But there are children present, man.”

Kane, Tac / Med

“No children her Kane! I can out cuss you, out drink you and have you on your knees in the time it take you to say those three words again”

Admiral Beymers aide-de-camp Commander Morgan Drew had quitly and without being noticed came to the back of the bridge, he had simply been standing there listening to the junior officers. Commander Drew spoke loudly, not as though yelling but with a commanding boom in his voice “Perhaps Junior Officers should not question the motivations of Command since they have no idea what the big picture is.”

GM

William had opened his mouth to answer the Tactical officer when the Commander spoke, he turned around and gave the aide-de-camp an expression of befuddlement before tensing up slightly, his expression turning more thoughtful “Normally I would agree with you, sir.” He said without missing a beat, his tone respectful but with an edge to it “But consider our previous assignment I don’t think it overreaching for some junior officers to question motivations between themselves” He smiled politely, almost sardonically “And respectfully, sir, wondering why one has been given orders and questioning those orders are two entirely different things” The young scientist said, wording his thoughts carefully “I do believe our conversation falls under he former not the latter”

CSO

Kane looked up and grinned slightly at the CSO. He then turned slightly and looked at the aide-de-camp and said “You also can’t expect a group of us simple Junior Officers to not question the sanity of Command after they put said Junior Officers and their shipmates through hell for kicks, either.” Unlike the CSO, Kane’s tone held no respect in it at all. In fact, it held barely concealed contempt. It was obvious the tattooed man was still harboring some animosity over their previous mission. “And the name’s ‘Kane’… that’s with a ‘K’… for the write up. Save you the time of looking it up, Commander.” and he turned back to his console without bothering to wait for a reaction.

Kane, Tac / Med

The Commander frowned, it was unusual for officers to be so dismissive of a Senior Officer and so willing to accept a formal reprimand was unusual. “Well Kane, from what I understand you are a oddity in Star Fleet, A medical officer and a Tactical officer. Tell me how did that come to be?”

GM

Without looking up Kane said “Oddity. That’s fresh.” sarcastically and shook his head slightly, the mane of wild hair again falling across his face, save for the right side of his head which was shaved close to the skin. He paused a moment, maybe trying to decide if the Commander was worth any explanation. Making the choice, he still faced the console. “Couple of years with the New Detroit Fire Department Search and Rescue.” he said as if the Commander should be familiar with that particular cesspool of a colony. Most weren’t, but that didn’t seem to matter to the man speaking. “Turns out I have a knack for medicine… and for really big guns.” As he spoke, his tattooed hands flew across the tactical control console. In the time it took him to say those words, he had run a diagnostic on all forward shield emitters and the phaser bank arrays.

Kane, Tac / Med

Will rolled his eyes practically audibly. The bravado of the Tactical officer, although exceptionally entertaining, wasn’t worth the trouble to annoy the personal aide to a flag officer but didn’t say anything. He gave the acting security chief a wry smile at the interaction of the Tac/Med officer and continued his work.

CSO

“Maybe you can let us in on why command has sent the Chernov to a restricted area of space” she asked.

From Mwezi’s standing position behind the Captain’s chair, he had silently and stoically watched this exchange go on. There were a lot of tactical or security officers on the Bridge right now. He asked the question that probably none of them had asked out loud, but a few of them might be thinking. “… what about food?”

Mwezi, Security

William turned to the hulking alien “Is that some sort of existentional question?” He asked with a beffudled look on his face “Indeed what about food” He seemed to look down at his screen and ponder the question.

CSO

Kane grinned the unsettling grin he seemed to have mastered as his trademark… or maybe it was just the way he smiled. “Well, I don’t think we are gonna get a curry or pizza delivered out here.” and then he did look at the Commander. “Unless you got some pull with a Risian take-out joint?” and then he looked back at his console and chuckled, amused by his own humor whether anyone else was or not.

Kane, Tac / Med

“I mean, there are several of us up here, presumably for over a day before we are allowed out or anyone is allowed to enter. We will need sustenance to continue to function. In addition, one of us should take a rest now so they are alert when the rest of us begin to need rest…”

Mwezi, security

Chris was almost to his meeting and was hungry then he remembered that he forgot about food and he also did not say who had the Conn. He found a transmitter on the wall. [O]Chris to bridge. I will send food and drinks ready for you from the Galley and Lt. Givens has the Conn. Please send one representative to the galley and instruct them not to talk to anyone, period. Chris out. [O]

OOC: metagamming here!

Commander Chris Taggart XO

Kane immediately responded by yelling “OneTwoThree NOT IT!” across the bridge. And then he had a thought. “Of course when it comes to not talking to people, I am the best.”

Kane, Tac / Med

Adira just shook her head at Kane and stepped out from behind the console and made her way toward Mwezi. She had downloaded the ETA to the padd along with an encrypted message for the first officer. “I only trust you” she told the security officer as she handed him the padd. “Once you have stopped by the galley deliver this straight to the hands of the XO no one else.” She paused a moment and waited for the security officer to acknowledge her before taking her place back at her console.
