Miv nodded quietly to the man. “Controller Miv. We have conferred, and decided that Ka’de Mwezi is, indeed, worthy of ascension to Kra’le. We will be updating his records. Please direct Ka’de Mwezi to join this communication.”

Chris smiled. “Excellent” He said waving his hand to get Mwezi attention. He knew Mwezi heard it. His hearing was beyond what Chris could think. “Here he is Controller Miv.” Chris scooted out of the chair and motioned for Mwezi to sit in it. “I’ll be here in the background listening so you can talk directly to him. “

Mwezi quietly stepped over to the offered chair and sat down, closing his eyes briefly before meeting eyes with Controller Miv. “May your hearts beat strongly,” he said, dipping his head.
“And your love grow wide. It is pleasant to speak with you, Ka’de Mwezi,” Miv spoke, her eyes blinking slowly. “You have shown great courage in the face of adversity, and remarkable adaption to your place aboard the Chernov. I cannot give you your rank signs, but be certain that as soon as you return to Galdor for any reason, you will be receiving them from whichever Controller is in charge of the Forces. Congratulations, Kra’le Mwezi.” She spoke. “I am certain you will have a ceremony of sorts in this Federation vessel, but even if you do not, you may come to Starbase at any time for your official promotion.”
Mwezi nodded, lightly fingering the two silvery earrings near the base of his left ear. “Thank you, Controller Miv. I will wear this Starfleet rank with pride until I am able to return home…” Mwezi stood up. “You may return to the comm, Captain.” He spoke, going back to his seat.

Chris smiled at him. “Congrats to you Kra’le Mwezi and also Lieutenant Junior Grade Mwezi.” He sat back down. “Thank you Controller Miv. He will get a promotion ceremony here. Do you want us to include something in our ceremony that you will like for us to do?”

Miv closed her eyes briefly in a slow blink. “No, Captain. The necessary ceremonies for Galdori rank promotions cannot be preformed by aliens. No offense to your own culture, but these things must be done by those who are trained in the ceremonies.”
Mwezi was quiet as he listened.

“I fully understand Controller Miv. My apologies. If there is anything else I can do please let me know. Now I have to get back to the ship and Kra’le Mwezi is free to converse with you. I’ll make sure he gets back to you soon. “

Miv closed the channel, leaving Mwezi and Taggart to wherever their conversation would take them.
Mwezi nodded quietly. “Should I return to my duty post, sir?” he asked.

“No. First you need to change clothes. You need a shirt that has Lt J.G. rings on it! Then after that we are going to go to the Captain’s Mess and get something to eat and have a few drinks. Then tomorrow you can go back to work. Savvy?” He smiled.

Mwezi stood still for a moment before nodding. “Understood, Captain,” he said, and stood up. “I’ll go get my new shirts. You know, it would be so much more convenient if we had some kind of marking for ranks that could be attached to a shirt, instead of having to get a whole new set of clothing upon a promotion,” he commented with a small chuckle, then left the room to go to the supply bay for a new uniform shirt.

“Maybe in a hundred years or so. Maybe. ” Chris chuckled.

Mwezi chuckled. “I will see you soon,” he spoke.
