Chris nodded and held his arm out pointing to the ready room. “We can use Capt…Commander Stovik old office. Do you want me to send for the three others?” He didn’t want to say who since that was still secrecy.

“I can we can refer to it as the Captain’s office, Captain. Or yours…as you are now Captain.” Stovik said with equanimity.

Commander Stovik

He looked at Kane. “Kane. How long till we reach where we are going at our present speed?”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

OOC: I’ll wait so the GM can give an accurate arrival time.

James

William watched the exchange with equal part curiosity and utter surprise. Out of all the things to happen he did not expect this. Starfleet Command was behaving more and more in an utterly inexplicable manner. First the fake mission, then Vulcan and now a promotion and a demotion. Sure handing Command over to Taggart probably made sense if it was his time or whatever but Demoting the Captain was an unnecessary triviality. He considered if there was some other reason behind all of this. Shaking his head he turned his attention back to his work station.

CSO

Mwezi returned to the bridge with the food. He noticed Taggart and stepped over, handing him the small data Padd he had been asked to give to Taggart, then distributed the meal - sandwiches wrapped in foil - to anyone who was hungry.

Mwezi, sec

“No beer or dancing girls, Big Furry? I am very disappointed in you.” and he shook his head in mock displeasure. Or maybe it was real displeasure. With Kane, it was always a toss up. Taking a sandwich he opened it and said “At least you got the bacon. All is forgiven… well, most is forgiven.”

Chris took the PaDD. “Thank you Ensign Mwezi. Do you know what’s on it or if it’s important enough to look at right now? I’m getting ready to have another mission debrief.”

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Kane, Tac / Med

“You will have to ask Adira Givens, she is the one who gave it to me,” Mwezi said softly. “She said it was for your eyes only.”

Mwezi, Sec

Chris nodded. “Thank you. ” He tapped the PaDD on and put in his password and read what was on it.

OOC “Ok Miss Mercer. What is on the PaDD?

Captain Chris Taggart CO

The helmsman spoke up “XO… or uh Captain, sorry sir, we will arrive in 6 hours at the location sir, we did have a ‘echo’ on the navigation sensors that I have not seen before but since the science ensign looked at it we are not seeing it anymore sir.”

GM

Stovik strode over to the science station to look at the reading himself,”Let me see the reading.” He asked softly thinking of cloaked vessels.”Did the echo appear to be shadowing us?” He asked of the Helmsman.

Commander Stovik

“That’s fine. I have a problem remembering myself.” He smiled. “But since we are so close to our destination and there are two enemy vessels there already, one possessing the ability to cloak. Could you or science please tell me what is it that you mean is an Echo?”

“There appears to be a sensor echo for some unknown reasons. We checked the sensor array and both me and Mr. Kane did our own readings with no luck. It appears isolated to the Helm sensors” William stated from his station in the General respectful Bridge Officer tone “However, we were unaware of factual knowledge of any cloaked vessels.” he seemed to tense slightly “We’ll have to run some more detailed scans and tests”

“Well Lieutenant. Neither did I when I first gave the orders. But it is what it is. I know you’ll dip a great job as always. ” He patted the man on the shoulder.

William nodded. There was a slight pleasing tingling at the CO’s pat, a pavlovian response of joy produced due to positive reinforcement. William made a mental note to see of such reactions could be modified.

After Chris heard the response he looked at both the Admiral and Stovik. “Sense we are close and my crew needs time to prepare, my ready room is this way. ” He said in a commanding tone and started walking to the ready room without waiting for an answer.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

CSO

OOC: Pasting in Amanda’s post.

IC: Adira looked over to Taggart as he started toward his ready room “Sir what exactly are we preparing for?”

Givens, ACOS

Captain Chris Taggart CO

Pausing his stride he turned around and fixed Lt Givens with his raptor gaze and in a flat commanding voice. “War Lieutenant.” He then turned around and resumed his walk to his new office.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

As the science officers checked the sensor’s they did not initially see any signs of the shadow, Ensign Jackson who had ‘worked’ on the console was extremly helpfull and wanted to be the one doing all the checks.

GM

Kane looked over at Jackson and a thought occurred to him. Looking at the CO, he said “Might want to run a diagnostic on that console, Skipper.” and then he flashed Jackson one of his not-so-nice smiles. “Just to be sure, right?”

Kane, Tac / Med

Stovik frowned a bit to himself as he followed Taggart off the bridge, he was finding he was a bit concerned about Taggart’s actions going into this mission. He seemed quite prepared to use force at the first instance of enemy presence. He just hoped the Captain would be amiable to reason and caution from him.

Commander Stovik

Without turning back he waved his arm. “Make it so Lieutenant. ” He got to his office and opened the door waiting for the rest of then to get in.

OOC: making a new thread for the ready room.

Captain Chris Taggart CO

As the sensor’s were beginning to be checked there was a brief moment that they did not register anything, when they came back online the electromagnetic sensors were spiking on the port side, before anyone could react to raise shields a Romulan Warbird was sitting not 200 Meters off the Port Bow, The science ensign that had assisted with the navagation sensor’s began to glow and then disappeared. The Warbird began turning away from the Chernov.

GM

“WHat the devil!” William exclaimed as his junior officer disappeared from thin air, turning around “Kidnapping!” He called to the center of the bridge “Jacksons gone” His shrill cry came even as a surprise to himself. He truly hadn’t been expecting it.

CSO

“Kidnapping my a%&.” said Kane. “He was way too ‘helpful’.”

A comm cane from the captain’s ready room. [O] Bridge! Shields up![O]

Captain Chris Taggart CO

[O] Aye aye! [O] replied Kane as the he raised the shields and set Red Alert.

The Shields were raised, the Romulan Ship continued away from Chernov on a heading of 132.65

GM

Seeing the ship leave and soooooooo close Chris toggled the com again. [O] Bridge. What happened? What’s their course? [O] After the answer Chris continued.

[O] Romulan decloaked and Ens. Jackson looked to be teleported off the bridge. My gut says he was working with them, Skipper. Too damn helpful, too damn ineffective on his ‘tests’. [O]

[O] Follow them at long sensor range, it could be a trap. [O]

Captain Chris Taggart CO

The ready room doors whooshed open and Stovik stepped out, his piercing eyes flicking over the bridge quickly.”Report.” He ordered. The Romulans had to have had a reason for choosing to decloak and then vanishing. They had gotten whatever they had come for..most likely.

Commander Stovik

Kane looked at Stovik. “Ran a diagnostic on the sensor console. Just as it completed, we pinged a Romulan Warbird 200 meters off the bow. They decloaked, grabbed Jackson, and took off. Jackson was running sensors. He was the one who kept things slow while being all up in it. As I said, I think they grabbed their guy and left. Either that, or the suggestion of running a full diagnostic on the panel Jackson was on and then him being grabbed by a ship we should have picked up earlier is coincidence. And you know how often those happen, right?”

Kane, Tac / Med

On the main view screen the ship appeared to shimmer and then disappear into nothing, sensor’s dropped the ship and could not detect anything further. The ship was simply gone. Sensor sweeps did not show any warp train or Ion trail. The last known course of the ship was in the direction away from the Chernov’s location.

Admiral Beymer walked on to the bridge, “Captain did they respond to our hail’s?”
