“I am your disposal, Captain.” Stovik said evenly from where he had stood to the side, still with his hands held behind his back in a relaxed pose.

At this moment the readout’s began to fill the screen from the sensor logs, the logs showed that the sensor’s had been modified on the bridge con terminal to mask the echo in the sensor’s. A closer look at the logs showed that “shadow” had been in and out for a period of 14 hours. Further checks of the sensor’s showed that Ensign Jackson had been at all the terminal’s that had been tampered with.

The sensor logs when unlocked also showed that a low frequency transmission had occurred approximately 20 seconds prior to the Romulan’s beaming Ensign Jackson out. There also appeared to have been an upload of a audio file just prior to the beam out to the computer, it did not appear to have any malicious software in it.

His eyes snapped over to the console he’d had running diagnostics on the far left monitor. His eyes furrowed more deeply by the second as he read. He scrolled the readings back and ran back over them again, more slowly. He growled softly “What the buggery?!” before spinning in his stool to face the other two

Catching the scrolling text out of the corner of his eye Stovik asked,”What do you have, Chief?”

There was a sense of near outrage in his voice as he relayed the results “Your Ensign Jackson has been tampering with sensor logs. He’s intercepted the data as it reaches bridge terminals and adjusted the readings. Look here…” he tapped the monitor in several spots “…this is a reading from the spectral array, energy scatter that would otherwise probably be read by the system as background noise or natural phenomena, but it drops in and out of range and is far too regular. That’s an artificially generated signal. Based on what I know of Klingon devices we’ve seen and the Suliban specs I studied in school, I’d say that your Romulan interloper has a breach in his dampening field that’s letting a low level read break through the cloak.” He entered several commands to compare the imprint the shadow made to the brief contract the sensors had with the Romulan vessel “I’ll run an analysis and get you a firmer answer, but I can almost guarantee you we’ve just found a way to at least get some early warning on that Romulan. This though…” here he tapped the screen at several more points “…is less than good news. Low emissions communication coming from a bridge terminal right before Jackson was beamed away. I’m no security type, but I’d say that puts the nail in his coffin as a spy.” He tried to access the audio record, provided it hadn’t been deleted

“That son of a.....” Chris caught himself. “Good work Chief. Work on finding out what was sent to the Romulans and fine tune that sensing the cloaked ship thing. We need all advantages. Kane was correct about that Jackson person. ” Chris stopped and thought about it for a moment then tapped the com on the wall.

[O] All Department Heads are to bring ALL personnel that have boarded this ship since the last three docks and take them to shuttle bay 2. Security will help you escort them. Take no one’s word and don’t leave anyone alone. Security deploy to all levels and post guards at all stations and inside and out of shuttle bay 2. Arm yourselves. [O]

Chris then looked at the Chief. “Chief. Take whomever you need to get these projects done. I don’t care what department they are in or their rank. You’re in charge. “

Turning to Stovik. “Commander. We need to arm ourselves and head to the Shuttle bay once everyone is assembled. We need to go through their records to see if there are anymore spies amongst us. “

Stovik frowned as he listened to the Captain’s orders.”How are we to tell who in our crew is a spy? I would postulate that Jackson is more then likely the only one. It is not logical that the Romulans insert more then one.” As he spoke he too moved over to one of the locker’s along the outer wall and using his Executive access code, unlocked it and took out a phaser for himself and the Captain. He returned and offered Taggart one.

“Commander it is quite easy. See if anyone remembers them boarding, check their records and files and see if the DH knows them. I know some departments are big but worth a shot. If need be I have other ways to ferret out the prey like a mongoose. ” He took the phaser and nodded then strapped it on. “Thanks. I don’t think there is just one. I wouldn’t have just one infiltrator. Kane was right. Maybe he can help ferret out.”

“Aye, Captain”. He turned back in his seat with nary a glance, tapping his access code into the locker next to his station and removing a phaser and holster, strapping it around his waist. He once again cursed inwardly about the lack of high-resolution internal sensors and made some heavily underlined mental notes to send a message to Starfleet Engineering to intensify their development with regards to ship operations. He called over Crewman Thompson again, giving orders to have the three engineering officers who had come aboard with him and take them to the shuttlebay.

“Chief. You stay here and work. Security will be here any moment to get your people. I want you to focus on keeping us one step ahead of our Romulan friends. “..... He paused for a moment then continued. “Chief. Do you know if the Orion’s have cloaking abilities? I’m afraid my knowledge of Orion’s is limited. “

He thought for a moment, before shrugging “Not officially. I ran across an Orion using a stolen Klingon cloak once, but last I’d heard the High Council had made their feelings clear at the end of a Bird of Prey’s disruptors. I can tell you a fair amount about their ships and technology, but militarily I’m a little weak. What I know socially is from stories my dad told me about the Enterprise and Captain Archer as a kid. Henry Archer was a hero of his, so he made a hobby of the entire Archer family. As I understand it, the official Orion ‘military’ is essentially a criminal syndicate. I’d say it’s unlikely they have cloaking technology on the ship they’ve sent, but i’ve also never seen much standardization among Orion ships. They seem fond of customizing their ships as though they were personal property. Get me close enough for some high resolution active scans and I’ll be able to give you a better idea of what they’ve got aboard.”

“Sweet! I’m sure that I will get you more than close enough for some awesome and sweet scans of their ship or ships. You helped out a lot already with your information. I’ll study up on more....” He spun around and snapped his fingers....”We just got an Orion on board this ship if I recall! I will ask him for information as well but unfortunately keep a guard with him away all times until this blows over. “

At this point Admiral Beymer opened a comm to the Captain -o- Captain I believe we need to be getting ready here, we are close from what I understand -c-

Chris pressed the comm switch on the wall to the bridge where the Admiral was. [O] Understood Admiral. One thing at a time right now. Commander Grey. Full stop and raise shields. [O]

Stovik pulled a data padd out of his pocket and typed in a request for the crew records.”I have the crew manifest list, Captain. We can compare them against the crew in the shuttle bay. Having just under 500 crew, it will take some time.”The Vulcan murmured as he scrolled the manifest.
