“I see.” T’Aria returned, casting a brief glance at the terminal. “No matter how delirious a person might be, no one is truly omnipotent,” she pointed out, “can anything be done to stop her before she has the chance to wreak havoc on your life and, consequentially, those of the Chernov’s as well?” She paused. “I suppose the better question is: what do you believe she has in mind for you?” As a woman of logic, T’Aria was in firm belief there were alternatives to following through with whatever Harlow had in mind. The problem was..just how viable could those alternatives be?

Kane finally smiled and a small smile flashed. “Oh, she’s not delirious. Pissed off, yeah… but not delirious. As far as what she has in mind? I have no freakin’ idea. All I know is it will be bad. And, since she called me, I’d say whatever she does have planned is already in motion.” And he looked at T’Aria squarely in the eyes and said “And as far as stopping her? Well, that means one of us doesn’t walk away from this.” and he put his hand on hers and said “I don’t want you involved in this. This is way outta bounds for both my boss and… well… you.” and he looked the comm terminal and glared. “I dropped a building on her. You’d think that would have done the trick…”

“Apparently not,” seemingly sarcastic, T’Aria’s phlegmatic tone made it difficult to discern. “No.” She said, gripping his hand for a split second before the emotion faded. “Kane, I am not equipped to deal with terrorism, blackmail or any sadistic pursuit of the sort as you are. However, as a member of the medical staff and as someone I..care,” she stumbled over the word in a Vulcan equivalent to embarrassment, “about.. I do not believe it wise for you to combat Harlow’s threat on your own. Whether it is me or another member of this crew, find someone to assist you.” She paused. “You mentioned one of you will make it out alive. Whatever it takes, Solomon, it will be you.”

Kane looked at T’Aria closely for several long moments, his eyes staring straight into hers. He leaned in close to her, his face a fraction of an inch from hers. “You know it.” and he held the position for another long breath before he pulled back and looked away. “Now the question is… how do we find out what she is up to?”

“Are there any particular patterns Harlow tends to follow? Specific motives she might be pursuing, besides your ruin?” T’Aria knew little of this woman, so she has to start with the bare minimum and work her way up. Laying in wait, anticipating her strike was not an option. “She works for the Orion Syndicate, yes? Perhaps it is a worthwhile to check into recent reports of Syndicate activity. I should doubt they would make their intentions obvious to the public, but anywhere is a decent place to start.”
